Doesn’t matter, he’s a runner, not a defenseless receiver. Jenkins was making a play, he didn’t intentionally hurt him. The only call in the game that was even remotely questionable in my mind was Clements TD catch, and I believe they got it right.

You can't blame the refs when they called as close to a perfect game as anyone has seen in years. Nice try to throw that out there matty

They really let them play. The Clement TD was wrong but I'd think Elliott gets the FG. Everything else is pretty much nitpicking. Hogan did get hit away from the action on the final play to keep away from a tip and there was clear PI on the last failed Eagles 2pt conversion. But I don't think either affected the result.

as a Philly native and former resident and now live 20 min away from Broad Street here is my take on the game. I know I will get bashed for saying what I am going to say bc the Eagles won and many people think I shouldn't care at all but I do...

1-the NBC broadcast was an absolute joke. Cris Collingsworth was clearly pulling for the Patriots. He and Al Michaels thought the Ertz TD was not even a catch, let alone TD and they both agreed the Clement TD was not a catch either. Collingsworth said "if that is ruled a catch, I don't know what is!" Really? So you 2 know more than the NFL rules committee? The Ertz TD was not the same as Jesse James' play. Why? Ertz took 3 steps and lunged like a RB for the goalline. It's a TD. The Clement catch was a catch. They argued possession. He had it at an odd or weird angle in his arms. Not a normal way to catch a ball but he still had it in his arms. His foot hits the line after his second foot was already stepping in the end-zone. They argued it was bobbled and by the time he really had possession he was out of bounds. Well he was pushed out of bounds and he had possession before that.

So the game ends - very little excitement out of Al Michaels. Collinsworth didn't even say "Eagles are Super Bowl Champions." I watch the end of the game last night on the NFL Network. Collinsworth says nothing. Michaels barely raises a decibel level as the clock hit 00:00. Can Fox broadcast the game next year?

2-NBC in Philly cut the coverage of the trophy presentation right after Foles got it to air THIS IS US. Are you kidding me? A fucking tv show about a guy who died 2 years ago over the Super Bowl Trophy presentation ? Thanks NBC for blowing that too.

3-Does Dan Patrick have a pulse? He didn't seem all that caring the Eagles won either whereas last year Terry Bradshaw seemed very excited about the Pats winning and Brady winning SB #5 last year.

4-Commercial lengths? Holy crap was it long. I know companies pay millions for these commercials but how many were needed in between each PLAY? 5-10 min of commercial after every play it seemed. Just really long. Longer than I recall for a past SB.

5-Hit on B.Cooks. Read from a NE Blogger link it came from behind? Really? It looked from the side.

6-3rd and 10 for the Pats and Brady hits Hogan or Amendola for a 20 yard pass. he was so open, he had a cigarette and cocktail bf he took off running. This was time and time again. His 505 yrds were on 6 or 7 big passing plays. No idea who was playing defense. Maybe it was Casper the Friendly not playing Defense Ghost.

6A-Speaking of Casper - the Eagles defensive line. No sacks or real pressure for 3 quarters and 14 min of the damn game. Thank God the 1 min of pressure came with a sack and fumble recovery. Eagles line was suppose to manhandle NE that night. Never happened until the last minute and that is what sealed the win for the Eagles.

7-no pass interference call on the 2 pt conversion against NE? Clement was pushed bf the ball got to him and the NE player. No call.

8-I am not a football playbook wiz. NE Fans said the Eagles TD pass to Foles is illegal due to how they were lined up? No idea there. Someone was illegal in the neutral zone or line of scrimmage. No idea there. I think Foles or Jeffery was illegal in the wrong spot. Beats me. Never saw the play or formation before.

9-on the Hail Mary-Pats fans from the same NE Blog wanted a pass interference call on the bump/hit on Chris Hogan downfield. Wow. Ok. Call it. You get the ball on the 35 with 2 seconds left and you still need a TD and 2 pt conversion. BEFORE you throw that flag - throw a flag at Gronk at the 2 yard line for giving a WWE forearm shiver to the Eagles defender to get space to make the jump to the ball. They were side by side till Gronk shoved him away.

10-Hail Mary - Gronk jumped too early. By the time the ball was there, his body was on it's way downward. No way he was getting it with 3 Eagles around him who now were higher in the air than he was. Then he flayed his 1 arm like Lebron James looking for a call. Haha. The 1 Eagle player actually tipped the ball back upwards in hopes his teammates would catch it as Gronk and Hogan were already near the ground. Thank God it fell to the ground and not in Gronk's, Amendola's or Hogan's hands.

11-people making a huge deal on Tom Brady not shaking Nick Foles' hand. Some blogs say he didn't even look for him and walked off the field. Some are saying Brady is a sore loser. Easy Eagles nuts. Sore loser he is NOT. Brady is the greatest of all-time. 50 yrs from now if the league is still standing, they will still be talking about Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. He probably was pissed how it ended and Foles was being whisked away by the NFL bc he was MVP and needed to get on stage. Things happen. No big deal. I will say, I was shocked there wasn't a co-MVP. I mean Brady threw for 505 yards-a new record and did everything he could to win. 1 guy from the Cowboys won the MVP on a losing team and he was a defender. Brady could've won co-MVP honors.

12-that midget Kevin Hart trying to get on the SB stage with the Trophy. Sorry Hart, but you're not that funny, more annoying, and even though you went to George Washington HS in my old neck of the woods - you have no business on that stage. Hell Chris Rock is a lot funnier than you and I wouldn't want him up there.

13-Halftime-I was so happy halftime wasn't an hour like they said. It was 25 min for the set up, singing and breakdown of the stage and resuming of the game. No music artist will appease every football fan. The older bands have a disconnect to the younger crowd. The older crowd probably have no idea who Justin Timberlake is. Can't satisfy everyone.

that's all I got. I'm headed to the Parade on Thursday. My old apt was just 5 blocks from Broad Street and the parade route. It was awesome in 2008 for the Phillies parade. Now I gotta drive down. Some people are saying leave at 4 am. Are you nuts? I'll be there by 10am. haha.

Joe-my beef with NBC and Cris Collinsworth was my biggest gripe Sunday night - win or lose. Even watching some of the game last night on replay and after the Ertz TD - it was awful to hear him what calls overturned etc. Supposed to be fair and biased. It's like he works for the Patriots Network.

Oh I completely agreed with that. The Clement call was wrong though IMO. He bobbled it OOB afterwards and at no time did he catch it and establish himself before then while surviving contact with tackles/ground.

However that doesn't forgive the announcers. They never saw that second bobble. It was never shown. The NFL and refs missed it. The first "bobble" was 50-50 but it was clear the call likely stands as called with whatever the original call on the field was.

see I think he pinned it against his left upper arm at a weird angle. not the most conventional way to catch a football but he caught it. that's possession as it wasn't in the air. he pinned it against his upper left arm.

and on the 2 pt conversion missed PI call. if they throw a flag, isn't the play replayed? if the Eagles score 2 there vs 0 - it's a huge difference at the end bc the lead wouldn't be 8 and the Hail Mary and 2 pt conversion would've have mattered.

Both CC and Michaels on the Ertz TD were like "it's definitely getting overturned and that's not a catch." Screw Jesse James. Not the same play. Someone tried to splice the screen and show the Ertz and Dez Bryant plays side by side. Dez was going to the ground bc his momentum carried him downward. Ertz was running towards the goalline after the reception. Again call it 50-50. CC and AM said "it should be overturned!" wow.

Firstly on Ertz. These announcers thinking that wasn't a catch goes to show how much the media over-exaggerates the errors in the catch rule. There should have been no question when watching the replay. If that was originally called incomplete they would have overturned it. That's why the call was confirmed and not just "call stands".

As for Clement the pinned part is fine. That is why it wasn't overturned. He actually dragged his foot in bounds on that 3rd step. I am talking about the NEXT bobble that was clearly out of his hands and there is no way I would call him a runner before that point.
This is what you and the NFL saw that counts as pinned and feet in even if he did bobble it on the 1st step.

But this is what was missed and I don't think the catch process is close to completed yet before it.

Now this image proves nothing. The ball is actually still pinned. Even the replay from the front that shows it could be loose for a moment has no conclusive evidence that the ball wasn't pinned by the arm still. The front view can't conclusively say it wasn't pinned either.

However there is a picture going around from the front view that shows the ball out and not pinned. I think it was from yet another camera that wasn't used. I don't know if it was an NFL camera or not.

However, from what we say on TV, the refs and review made the right call, even if I thought it was wrong at the time. It was the one picture I'm talking about that to me shows it was incomplete but I can't for the life of me find it. But like I said, using what they had, the refs made the right call. The refs were pretty solid all game.

^^^ Joe - first off great pix there. to me pix #2 is the key pix. he has it there doesn't he?? he has it pinned to him arm. to me pix 2 is it. he has it and feet are in bounds And then he loses it out of bounds. gronk's 1 catch in the last minute was caught in bounds and when he was tackled it came flying out out of bounds. clement has it in bounds before he goes out of bounds, so that's a catch, right ?

  13. LAOJoe Assistant Coach Manager Patreon Silver Maple Leafs Eagles

Pic 1 and 2 are almost at the same time. In pic 1 the ball isn't in his hand. It just looks like it. But between the 2 picks it seems to show that it was pinned with the foot being down in pick 1. Pick 2 alone is hard to tell if the foot is in the air. I think you can see the field slightly change color from an aerial view where the foot skims the ground. Hard to tell if it does. I think the league can to the same conclusion and had to give the benefit that he did.

I don't think Clement had it long enough before falling honestly if he did lose it OOB. Gronk's seemed okay.

pix 2 to me shows his left hand under the point of the ball. by pix 3 it's not.

Peter King said it was too close to call and definitely not enough to overturn it. that's funny bc Collinsworth and Michaels said it should be overturned.

I was not cheering for the Pats and said that both could be ruled a non catch based on what we have seen this year thinking those were not catches doesnt make you against the eagles it just means you know how bad the NFL has been on what is a catch this year.

Now I think both were catches but I was basing my they will overturn them on what we have seen this season. Go back and watch the Jesse James non catch and compare it to the Ertz catch and you can see why both Al and Chris thought it would be overturned.

  16. LAOJoe Assistant Coach Manager Patreon Silver Maple Leafs Eagles

Big difference was Ertz took steps upright to become a runner and then leaped. Al and Chris forgot that most important part until one of them brought it up about 3/4 of the way into the review.

  17. Jeanquev Legend Steelers

Still would it have shocked you if they had overturned it?

By rule and how obvious I thought it was. Yes it would have. By it being the NFL and the catch rule, no not at all.

    Things I liked:
Going for it on 4th both times I thought it was the right descion
The trick play at the goal line. What made this even better is after the Brady miss catch I was explaining to my Aunt usually teams will run a play like that close to the goal line in the hopes the defense overlooks the QB and you score a TD.
The fact the NFL got it right and ruled both catches actually catches
    M&Ms comercial

    Things I didnt:
Going for 2 after the missed extra point. Way to early int he game to force that move IMHO. It could have come into play later in the game against them luckily it didnt.
Scoring the Touchdown when Ertz did. I would have told my players get the first do not get the TD. Why? Because your defense hasnt stopped Brady all day and 2 minutes and change is way to much time to give him.
Butler not playing a single defensive snap.
    halftime show
    the season is over

Yeah I get a lot of people are going to scream the eagles won so it doens't matter that they scored when they did but had they lost people would be pointing out how they should have milked the clock better.
