I saw that play. It was a forward pass. Are you blaming the Refs for making the wrong call of a Lateral Pass......even after re-view they ruled it to be a Lateral Pass. You look at the 25 yard line as the Straight Line...the ball does curl in the Air....Lateral...I understand how painful that was for Buffalo to lose that game. But Matty is talking about Loser Blame the Refs.
Yes, they made a bad initial call, and there was not sufficient proof to overturn the call. That’s how the review works. If they had initially call it (correctly) a forward pass then the Titans would never have prevailed in overturning that call. There’s a (horseshit) notion that failing to overturn a ref’s call validates the initial call as correct. That is not always the case, and that is what happened that day in Nashville.
Losers blame the refs. Sometimes that blame is justifiable. But it is only the losers that raise a cackle. The winners move on and hope that we’ll soon forget it, or change the subject, if they (secretly) know that the ref fu€£ed up. This started when you replied with (something, in effect): “I guess you’d call them losers. lol” Of course he’d call the Seahawks “losers” after SB XL because they lost.
That was a forward pass. It has been proven scientifically. The people that review plays do not have access to the scientific resources required to understand that as absolute truth. Therefore, their recourse was to rule the original call as the one to prevail. That does not change the facts.
It appears his arm extends forward past the line enough at the time of release for the ball to go backwards a couple of inches when it's caught. It is most definitely inconclusive and not obvious but because the QB's foot is at the solid line you can infer that his arm extended away probably makes up the difference. I don't use the tiny pit of back curve as evidence it went backwards. That can happen with spin and wind. Heck it actually helps the case that it may have had some initial forward trajectory and then got blown back, which still makes it a forward pass. But I am leaning that it was actually forward and that the correct call was made not to overturn that. If it was called forward I would not have overturned it either.
It sounds like I'm back and forth on this so it may have been bad wording before but I think the following: 1. It probably had some forward trajectory on release. Therefore ignoring all else it is forward but... 2. The release point is likely further ahead than the catch point. 3. There appears to be backwards movement of the ball right before the catch. 2 and 3 are irrelevant but I can never blame a ref in the moment to call that backwards and there is no way that can be overturned unless you had a few more angles, including pretty much right above the QB. So ya I do believe it actually was a forward pass but as far as officiating goes it was done correctly. Sadly though if done today the NFL has taken a wider definition of inconclusive and close so it could have been 100% obvious gong forward a few inches the whole way and the league still wouldn't reverse it.
Well, no. No. We do not hear that “all the time”. Rarely are bad calls so egregious (game circumstances/obvious impact) AND where there is sufficient data to scientifically test/challenge a call. A lateral-or-forward pass is almost unique for its capability to be scientifically verified. And rarely (as once in history) has such a play occurred on the final play of a playoff game. People cared enough, therefore, to apply rigorous science. Otherwise, I have never heard anyone to claim scientific reason in their butthurt claims. Yes, the Bills are butthurt. They also lost that day, and were the only team to be sufficiently motivated to challenge the call. They fact that they are correct does not override their butthurt loserness.
I know lots of people in Vancouver that are Fans of Seahawks and they still talk about the call.........you would call them Losers......lol That is the post you speak of........I called the FANS Loser.....because they still Whine about the Call. This started when you replied with (something, in effect): “I guess you’d call them losers. lol” Of course he’d call the Seahawks “losers” after SB XL because they lost. The FANS.........of course the Seahawks lost the game and they are the Loser.....(No Brainer) The Seahawk Fans still Blame the Refs for the missed call in the Super Bowl.........they (the Fan) are the Loser ...too bad so sad move on. I'm sorry and very surprised that this has confused you. But Matty is talking about Loser Blame the Refs and I agree with him.
Yes, the Bills are butthurt. They also lost that day, and were the only team to be sufficiently motivated to challenge the call. They fact that they are correct does not override their butthurt loserness. Maybe it helped with healing that the Titans went on to Lose the Super Bowl to St. Louis Rams by ONE yard.
Well, Larry, you did not make your point in a particularly coherent manner. In fact, I still have a hard time trying to understand your point. But, that said, I believe we may have overrun our permitted comments on this.
Yeah, but that stop one short of the goalline was due to the Ram’s stellar defensive effort. It had nothing to do with the refs. Besides, I don’t want to feel better about the Music City Fiasco.
Well to make it clear, I do believe it was forward, don't blame the refs and would not overturn it myself with all views given. Shit just happens and there was a chance it actually never went forwards.
Dan.........it was a good debate. I do hope all is well in Portugal and your avoiding Winter......It is real bad over here and all over North America. And what is wrong with your Sabres......Jezz I have Ullmark in net and he is costing me points.
It’s in the mid-60’s here. That’s around 17 or 18 for you Canadians. The Sabres look like they’re playing like they would the first day of training camp against a team in mid-season form. They look like that because essentially that’s what’s happening. Fuck the NHL and NFL refs too!
Yeah, but that stop one short of the goalline was due to the Ram’s stellar defensive effort. It had nothing to do with the refs. Mike Jones Dan........that was a Super Bowl saving tackle.......and that Game was a great game. RIP Steve McNair and Eddie George had a good game.....BUT as a Fan of the Titans/Oilers it was very hard to lose that game.
Canucks Suck as well Dan........it is a 56 game season and you can't afford a slump. And the F-ing Leafs Dan.........they are in 1st place overall.......Blow Leaf's Blow.
