Martavis Bryant’s catch early in the game on long throw to sidelines in tight man coverage was a thing of beauty And the throw by our oft-criticized super star QB was perfect.
One criticism They ran all over us too easily Was flabbergasted after running down the field how at 3rd and 4th and goal from point blank they passed with a third string qb two consecutive plays. These play callers are “mentally irregular” these days (Rocky reference).
Liked for Rocky. This season, our run defense has suffered without Shazier. Vince Williams is a fantastic blitzer but surprisingly he's always struggled at run defense. Maybe that's because he "tackles" by going for the big hit which lets the ball carrier go for more yards more often than not. There are ways to contain outside runs without a sideline-to-sideline linebacker but most of the runs tonight looked like they occurred between tackle and guard. This defense has been susceptible to big runs, though, since circa 2013 and it's irritating. When other teams contain Le'Veon Bell effectively by swarming and gang-tackling, it's stupid watching our defense open like the Red Sea and only have one lackluster attempt at a tackle occur five yards later. There was absolutely no threat of a passing offense from Houston and the Steelers' run defense still shat the bed. If I'm Mike Tomlin, I'm seriously livid, and I won't let these guys rest until it's fixed.
Hopkins catch was nice but should have been called back because he had a serious hold on Hadens jersey before and during the catch.
