Just read a great article in BTSC on the potential for WR ex PSU Chris Godwin. 28 years old with 7 seasons with the Bucs whose career stats are very consistently competitive.529 rec 6690 yds 12.6 avg with 34 TDs. There are 4 other receivers on this Bucs team that may exclude the 28 yr old vet. If we can play The Price is Right how many of you guys like him as an option for a legit #2?

The Steelers should target Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin

If the Bucs were willing to eat come of his salary sure. Otherwise seems pretty difficult. He's on a 1 year, 18.5M contract.

Yeah I guess that's right. I was thinking in terms of a comparison to Metcalf caliber player who'd cost us an arm arm and leg anyway. it' too much money no matter who, eh?

The article did sound like they may want to turn him loose but enough to eat say 1/2 his salary? Probably not.

    Latest Simulator Run.
    14. Luther Burden WR no brainer here, highest rated player available and a need.
    46. Jalen Milroe QB likely gone, Drew Allar was off the board, keep taking QB talent until you solve the issue. Unlikely he is available here, but never say never.
    79. Xavier Watts S instictive safety, great ball skills, I traded back one spot to pick up pick 162,
    142. Bryon Nesbit TE could not pass up the 3rd rated TE at this point, size and speed, and Freirmuth has concussion issues.
    146. Rylie Mills, DT 6-5 298 the exact measurments of Aaron Smith. These guys are hard to find.
    162. Domani Jackson CB 6-1 190 runs like a deer, covers like a blanket
    184. Jordan Burch DT this is more youth movement on the DL, not to mention the dude is 6-6 305 the same measurements as Stephon Tuitt and is on Bruce Fieldman's freak list.
    196. Dane Key WR height, weight, speed SEC WR, worth a shot this late in the draft.
    206. John Pius OLB again, I will keep drafting this dude until he robs a pet store and beats up kittens and tests positive for methamphetamines.

That's 2 WR, a QB, and a TE on offense. 2 DL, S, OLB, and a CB on Defense. I liked Burch more than the scrap heap of OT left on the board, but I was looking for an OT just based upon value.
I really like Anthony Belton (taken 73rd) . He is an OT from NC State, but I think he would be an animal inside. A truth phone booth OL who likes beating people up.

I am still running simulators 4-5 days a week. Retiring soon, I will have even more time to devote to the draft. The latest run I missed on on John Pius he went 177 to Cleveland. Then I took him at 196 and they gave me a D+, what the fuck is that? I did manage to steal Houston QB Donovan Smith at 146. Allar and the rest went fairly quick, I stuck with Luther Burden at 14.

Any thoughts on the rumors that Najee requested the Steelers decline the 5th year option or Cam Heyward possibly playing for Cleveland next season?

Najee isn’t going to get better than the fifth year option unless he has a monster season, I don’t see that with Warren definitely getting a bigger share of the carries.
Heyward is a Steeler, he wants to retire that way.

I believe it was Cam that brought up the idea of playing elsewhere to finish his career.
The money might not be the issue…

Cam is trying to get another contract extension. His problem is he wants big money.

Najee bed trait is his low fumble rate, he averages under 4 a carry. Good luck Najee.

The Steelers offer very fair contracts to their players. The ones who leave and turn down offers from the Steelers usually don’t get more on the market. The only players that get better contracts than what the Steelers offer are ones that they know they can’t afford and just let walk. Like Javaughn Hargrave. He’s the player that I wish the Steelers would have resigned. We chose to keep the DE from Notre Dame ( forget his name right now) instead of cutting him and resigning Hargrave, in hindsight that was a terrible decision. If we had Hargrave right now we wouldn’t have to even resign Cam.

Cam won’t play for the Browns. Only chance of that would be if they were the only team bidding, and even then there would be a chance he retires rather than play in Cleveland. I suppose anything could happen, but he publicly said no chance of playing for the Browns.

Najee- Steelers made a mistake not picking up that option IMO. Doubt he will accept anything less than what Stevenson got from the Patriots, and if I’m being honest he shouldn’t. Listening to Steelers Depot, they believe the option could’ve been declined in order to not break the precedent of not giving a player with more than 1 year remaining on the current contract an extension. Not sure I believe that, but I also think Najee would not have been happy playing for that option amount, so who knows? Tomlin and Khan keep giving the “business decision” answer for why they didn’t pick up the option. Seems like a poor decision to decline the ~6 million option and then pay him ~9 million. Even if the plan is to move on from him, as many holes as they have on the roster plus having to pay a QB more money next season it made a lot more sense to pick up that option

Slid back 1 spot and picked up John Pius @ 209. Sadly this will be Cam’s last year so I drafted 2 dudes to inject youth in the DL
