Yeah kinda like the MAC vs the SEC at the top of the draft, right?

Cowboys fans are assembling with pitch forks, torches, and a pot of boiling oil in downtown Dallas. Like I said, not even on my board, that's how little I thought of him. If I had him, he would have been in the three digit range. Why not grab Barret Jones, it's a reach but it's not like you went up 3 rounds......

  4. Should be another great day. Some teams really reached on o-lineman.

If we could somehow get 18, 28 or 38 I would be made up

    1. LIke Ponder last year, MVP of the Senior Bowl means a lot to teams.
    2. Manuel is a bigger kid, and he was Mayock's second QB.
    3. Lesson learned, Geno, Matt, you blow off the Senior Bowl and it costs you money. Barkley was injured but still could have showed his face in Mobile.
    4. I think Jacksonville liked Manuel all along, the Bills wanted to lock him up for 5 years.

I feel for Geno Smith, because he was fed a pile of bullcrap. Between the talking jackwads like Kiper, his agent, etc.., he bought into the first round grade and all the mocks. LIke I said, he is 32 on the board I put together for us. My guess was he went very early second and not one player I listed above him I didn't like better.

    I'm thinking 18, 28, or 31

I think 18 is BPA, but he will be gone, and actually I doubt they go OLB back to back. Now ILB, I can buy, like # 33.

Like I said, the first run went, OL is basically wiped out, this could push Watson and Armstead down. Teams are going to start grabbing CB and WR in the next 15 picks, just a hunch.

Don't forget I am the one pusing 28, he is higher on the board I assembled. Most teams have 29,38 higher. I worry about the drops with 29 and the health/speed of 38.

There are reports now that Geno Smith isn't going to show up at RCMH tonight for the show...if this is true, it might not sit well with teams thinking of drafting him. He was already being questioned for his heart, now he's going to sit at home and pout over not being a first round pick? He could be in for a LONG slide if he doesn't stick his chin out and walk through those doors tonight with his head high.

I hear ya, but I have to say in my opinion, Geno Smith = Akili Smith. Ask yourself this, can you ever see Geno Smith (or any QB from this draft class for that matter) ever hearing the terms "Franchise QB" or "Elite QB" used in the same sentence? Not in my opinion, so for anyone to take a QB in the first round of this draft was stupid. EJ Manuel would have been there in the second round. I think it's more likely that Nassib, Glennon and especially the kid out of Arkansas (drawing a blank on the name right now) will be far better pros that Manuel or Smith.

I'll say this - You can always count on the Jets and Cowboys for drama, and the Bills keep proving that you can't fix stupid. Jets and Cowboys are the Kardashians of the NFL.

  13. It would be a Bold move goin back to back olb with number 18 but he would play inside for the steelers. IMO he will be the best inside LB in the draft and adding him and jones to woodley/Worilds and Timmons will be unreal.

Yeah number 31 would also be good roc. We need to address safety soon. Really excited about tonight this is my favourite day of the draft and there is some talent knocking around. I don't know why just got a feeling the steelers may take number 51 in the second. They had him in for a visit and love him, plus RB is a need.

I think 28 is too good a player to fall to our pick but we shall see.

I like the draft so far, can't wait for tonight......I think the Steelers have a number of options in which they could go in this round, I see them going one of 4 positions, ILB, Safety, CB, or WR.

  15. I'm pretty much with you apart from I don't see us taking a cb . I think ilb, safety, WR or RB. The exciting thing is we pretty much know the positions that will get drafted today it's the combinations that's intriguing.

2013 NFL Draft Winners and Losers - Day 1:

    Winners

Pittsburgh Steelers: Jarvis Jones, OLB, Georgia

WalterFootball.com has noted for months that dumb groupthink would lead to Jones landing in Pittsburgh. It came true as the Steelers landed a perfect replacement for James Harrison.

Jones led the SEC in sacks the past two seasons and led the nation in sacks, tackles for a loss and forced fumbles in 2012. Jones' fall in the 2013 NFL Draft is reminiscent of how the Ravens landed Terrell Suggs. The Steelers and Jones have seemed destined for each other. Pittsburgh stood pat in the 2012 NFL Draft, too, yet grabbed David DeCastro, a highly projected player, who fell to them and filled their biggest need. This happened again this year and that is why the Steelers remain a perennial playoff contender.

By the way, hi. Regrettably I missed most of the first round last night because of work. I may not get any decent draft viewing in until Saturday.

Anyway, I love the pick. Time to change my avatar.

  18. I guess time will tell if Fisher was the better pick over Joeckel....I would always take the better conference play if their neck n neck.

Dallas Cowboys: Travis Frederick, C, Wisconsin
The Cowboys had the biggest reach of the first round with Frederick. He was a third-round prospect and had no business being a first-round pick. The interior of the Dallas offensive line is awful, but taking Frederick is terrible value.

Dallas could've drafted Florida State right tackle Menelik Watson and moved him inside to guard. Kentucky guard Larry Warford is a consensus higher-rated prospect than Frederick as well. Warford would have been understandable at pick No. 31. Either one of those players would have been better picks than Frederick.

Walter was kind with a C grade, I failed them miserably with an F.
