Eifert makes sense for the short term, but I just can't look at it that way. Miller will be back sooner rather than later, and he's not going anywhere anytime soon. He's only 30 years old and its not unusual for TEs to be effective well into their 30s. If he plays another 5 or 6 years, what do you do with Eifert?

Its a wasted pick to me, sorry.

I don't want to get too deep into the Mendy thing, because I'm disappointed in how it turned out, but the kid was easily the best player available in that draft. TheTruth may, indeed, have called it a bad pick, but TheTruth has called every pick that wasn't an OL a bad pick since 1982!! ;)

I got to be honest here, I think one of them will be there and I like:

    28, 31,33, 51

  3. 28 or 33 my top choices

  4. What about 40? If they go RB I'd rather it be him. Then in the 3rd look at 66, 74, 75 or 86

    My top picks for the 2nd would be 28, 29, 31, 33, 40, 45 and 51

Tomorrow is the day for CB and RB, so chances are some of the LB prospects will become value picks. But I say NO to 45. I just don't buy the hype, if he played for NC State he wouldn't have gotten so much attention.

Im going to bed, I think the next run is on WR and then CB if not S will come in very soon, just a hunch.

    33. Jacksonville: Geno Smith is my guess. However they can sit back and listen to all the trades they want and take their time. 33 is a very good spot to have.

peace out I got some praying to do.

I hope you're right, but I can't see 28 or 33 being there for the next pick. I have to agree that 33 comes above 51 if available. There are still 20 guys I would be satisfied with in round 2, but some I really like - in a very manly way.

If Eifert couldnt beat out a 30+ year old with a bum leg then he really will be a bust.
It's not what do you do with Eifert it's what do you do with Miller ? Down grade to #2 like a lot of older Vets playing for league minimum.

  9. I'm more with Breed on Eifert because he could've added another dimension to the offense, especially since he can line up at wideout. They could run an offense where both of them play a majority of the plays. My problem is I just didn't see him as a guy that should be picked in the 1st, I thought ordinarily he'd be a candidate in the 2nd that was pushed up by a weak class.

    Eifert is the safer pick

  11. Safer, but imo not better. I could understand why some would've preferred him but it is just personal preference for me.

  12. Good article on Steelersdepot about Worilds next year, this pick could be good for the Steelers because Worilds could be auditioning for free agency now and could have that extra motivation. Unless they try him inside it is hard to see him getting re-upped unless he blows onto the scene like Harrison did, which I don't see happening. If he doesn't he could always just come back as a cheaper backup and special teamer.

    Safer, but imo not better

I'm cool with that, everyone is entitled to there opinion.

You honestly believe that Tyler Eifert is better than a healthy Heath Miller? And don't tell me that Heath has a "bum leg". How many guys come back from ACLs with no issues? Tyler Eifert is a good TE, and maybe he becomes a great one, but the Steelers already have a great TE. Its a wasted pick. In 3 or 4 years, they can start looking for Heath's replacement, not at 30 yeras old. That's like saying they should have taken Geno Smith at 17 because if he can't beat out a 30 year old QB with Ben's injury history then he really will be a bust.

  15. Agree. We can all debate them and disagree but still can have them. No opinion is inherently better than the other (wow I have been reading too much John Stuart Mill, I think that means I should call it a night).

Mano,No it's not. stop making things up.

Anyways, it was a good night. Mostly civil...sorry to breed if I got a bit out of line, I'm tired and cranky!

Time to call it a night I think, so I'll see you all tomorrow night. I won't be around for the first hour or two of the draft tomorrow night, but I'll catch up with you when I get home.

    Good night everyone.

What the heck are the cowboys thinking? Travis Fredericks in the first.. They could have had him in the 2nd or maybe the third - Kid has no feet and is slow... One of the worst picks so far in this draft....

    Off to work...

    enjoy,

    bb
