Steelers Draft and Mel Kiper sucks thread!!

  1. That RT earned AA 3rd team from Assoc Press in 2014 and AA honors in 2015

    lol

Neither one of those are really answers, but I get it, he's your dude and you can envision him making that leap. Developing that kind of understanding of the game may happen, but he hasn't displayed it yet.

He doesn't have Troy's instincts. He's a great prospect, but few have that ability.

  3. I will say this...people felt the same way w Jalen Ramsey playing in that def and look at him now

  4. steelersking M.V.P. Steelers

Did he earn anything the past two years? Even if he did, it was still a poor play from the RT. Didn't mean to make it seem like he was a poor player, just had a bad play.

  5. Im sure when he saw Derwin lined up over him he was worried bout the speed rush....the guy still weighs 300 lbs and he tossed him pretty easy....Derwin wants to be great and will work at it 100% full go....I hope he ends up at TB where Winston can take a fellow Nole under his wing and show him the ropes

I'd love to see a Troy - like move up in the 1st round if Roquan makes it out of the Top 15.

Depth is good , talent that’s another topic. Burns, Hilton, Haden with Sutton pushing them and Allen developing. Very deep CB class, any round is possible. I don’t buy into Evans or Vander Esch being Locks but it’s hard to argue they don’t immediately upgrade ILB. Colbert has a feel for Shazier returning in 2019 that may mean Bostic is the stop gab until #50 returns.

Nice to see you around NY and that sucks about BB.

I have no idea what to think about this draft. Is there anything linking us with anyone in the first round?

  9. nybites M.V.P. Steelers UCONN

A lot of fodder out there but I think Guice at 28 is possible. Roquan Smith won’t get past Miami, Hoodie May nab Evans at 23 and go
OL @31. Vander Esch has a lot of buzz around him he may go late teens. Reid is a second round talent and I actually like him over Harrison, who Reminds me of that bust from USC, Taylor Mays.

Walter football has a good page for who the Steelers have met with or invited to Pittsburgh.

9 Days away and it’s sad how little interest or contributors this thread has retained. I’m guilty as charged but I’m not the only person who found a more rewarding hobby or interest. Re: BB , I know he was turning 60 this year and hinted at retirement, hoping things worked out well for him.

Not trying to be Debbie Downer here NY, but I think Colbert was just trying to keep Shazier's spirits up. I think Colbert knows the likelihood of Shazier ever playing again is slim and that's being optimistic, let alone playing in 2019.

It's really important at this stage everyone around him keeps him optimistic. Deep depression is a very real possibility for him now and in the future.

I happen to agree with you, football is his life . My money is on Evans if he’s there. Too bad a 6-1 270 LB from Clemson isn’t available. Man NOBODY ran up the middle with Kirkland on the field .

I’m just hoping Hoodies strategy fails and the turnstile LT in New Englang gets Brady beaten Like a war drum.

I think anyone with reasoning and logic can see the positions they will be drafting. My guess is this based on frequency of positional prospects who visited or they’ve personally met with. Breaking this down the score is :

    ILB -9
    WR-6
    FS/SS -5
    RB-3
    DL-3
    CB-2
    OLB-2
    QB-1
    OL-1
This tells me they are double dipping at ILB. Most definitely drafting a WR and a Safety. That leaves 3 more picks between DL, CB, RB, OLB . Probably picking up an O lineman as UDFA and maybe a QB. This also tells me they like the trio of McDonald, James, And Grimble because TE is absent in visits and dinners/ one on ones.

I have a feeling that they jump on Rudolph if he is available. I saw a stupid mock on NFL.com that had Rudolph selected in rd 3 no way they pass him up at their number 2 pick.

NFL Network's Mike Mayock reports teams have injury concerns with Boise State LB Leighton Vander Esch.

Vander Esch's neck injury has removed him from some draft boards. He also had a pinched C-spine nerve and LCL sprain at Boise State. This has been out there, but it confirms teams have flagged Vander Esch's medicals. Vander Esch was given a passing grade for his neck issue at the Combine.

I have a feeling the Steelers are targeting a player in the first round this year. Obviously I could be wrong, but in normal years the Steelers seem to have a group of 5 or 6 players they would be happy with.
It just seems different this year. It feels like they are going to move up to take "their guy" or move back if he isn't there.

Does anyone else have this feeling?
If so who do you think they are targeting?

  19. I could see it being Guice if they know Bell is gone

In Lyman's RHSC mock, I represented the Steelers and selected Rashaad Penny (RB3) late in the 2nd Round for this reason. Barkley and Guice were gone.
