Can't lie, I'm surprised Pittsburgh went WR before the 3rd. Y'all don't have too many holes though. And unlike my team, you give your QB as many weapons as possible.

JuJu. Not a "Wow," but a solid pick nonetheless. He should contribute. Potential to play the complementary role Wheaton never really developed into.

Okay, so, if this doesn't speak as a vote of no-confidence in Sammie Coates, I don't know what does.

Not what I expected, but this team hasn't thrilled me with its second-round picks lately anyway. Smith-Schuster can produce, especially in this offense, but does he even see the field at first? I don't hate it, but . . . damn, this kinda took the air out of the tires.

Well they screwed that one up.

I don't see this as a statement on Sammie Coates, per se. Coates is the fill-in for Martavis Bryant. Smith-Schuster is the replacement for Wheaton, and more of a statement of low confidence in Eli Rogers.

Don't hate it but thought there was better talent in other positions on the board.

Hopefully they pick up some DB help in the 3rd.

Smith-Schuster gets comparisons to players like Brandon Marshall and Anquan Boldin. He's not fast, but he's big, tough, and physical.

Combined with Watt in the first round, it looks like the Steelers are building a theme.

Just wanna mention this because I haven't talked about him much all offseason.

Ahkello Witherspoon is a joke of a cornerback. It's the first truly bad pick made by the 49ers in this draft.

Not sure what I think about the Ju Ju Schuster pick ... his metrics don't wow

Antonio Brown, Martavis Bryant, Sammie Coats, Eli Rogers, Cobi Hamilton, Darrius Hayward Bey, and Justin Hunter. Did they really need another receiver?

I think they did, and I expected a receiver in the first 3 rounds. Without Bryant last year, the passing game was far less dynamic. AB was under constant pressure because the tandem of Wheaton and Rogers was incapable of consistently taking the pressure off AB. Hamilton had some good plays late in the season, but is he really a long-term answer at a starting position? And frankly, how much do we trust Bryant? Despite the offensive production, the WR corps was fragile last year-- without Bryant, it was AB and a cast of merely passable parts.

That being said, I would rather have had a good TE to help open things up.

Besides, it may have just been a matter of following their board, and they may not have liked anyone else at 62 at a position of greater need.

Any thoughts on 3rd rounders for Pittsburgh. Frankly, a lot of guys I like are on the offensive side. The power RB from Oklahoma and the injured TE from Michigan are intriguing, but I believe the team will go one defensive and one offensive guy with their two 3rd round picks.

On D, we could use DE depth and some competition for ILB, as well as at least one guy to compete to start in the secondary.

There's still a CB I really, REALLY love, but I won't even mention his region of the country this time, so you'll have to take a wild guess.

Otherwise, like I said earlier, any two of RB/TE/ILB/CB (x2) will do, provided they are both good players with good value.

Damn Patriots took the guy I was hoping to grab in the 3rd. There is a guy that many mocked to the Steelers at 30 on the board still...

Steelers first 3rd round pick is in--

    Cameron Sutton, CB from Tennessee

I thought they would take Douglas from WVU

  18. steelersking M.V.P. Steelers

Ok since it's highly unlikely he's there in the forth when the Steelers pick again, what is wrong with Lawson? Were his medical questions that serious?

Anyways, what I saw about Sutton was pretty good.

  19. demolisher43 Franchise Player Steelers

Cameron Sutton - yes. Great fit, probably the last corner on the board who would have been a great fit. The Steelers agree with me in that we need a guy who can play inside and stick to slot receivers. My mood is elevated a little after JuJu.

The mocks you've seen overvalued him tremendously. I liked Rivers all right, but he was never a first-round pick. He went where he should have.

Thank God they didn't. Douglas is slow and cumbersome. He'd go undrafted if he wasn't 6'2" (maybe he will).
