Alright Watt, welcome to the family! Let's be even better than your brother in Houston.

Meh, not my choice. Not explosive, reminds me of aClark Haggans type.

But he's a Steeler now. So, here's hoping.

  3. That would be awesome.

My sense of T.J. is that he is relentless and productive, but on tape he never looks explosive. Despite some decent combine performance, he just looks stiff and lacks pop on tape. He's got the bloodlines, but he really feels like a 2nd round pick.

Of course, we've had some good 2nd round picks, so maybe it'll work out.

Honestly I don't know why you guys aren't happy about this pick. I've said for a long time now he does everything we would ask him to do very well. He's a late riser, jumping into the first round over the last week, just like his brother who wasn't considered a top-15 pick until a month or so before the draft. Certainly much less of a head-scratcher than Artie Burns.

This kinda reminds me of when we picked Ryan Shazier and I was the only one psyched about it. *SCRATCH*

    T J Watt

I'm ok with it, not thrilled, but ok

  7. My thoughts exactly and combined with his injury history I had him as a second rounder. But he's a Steeler now so let's get behind him.

Really excited about tomorrow. I'm off to bed.

We have to remember to be patient. It always takes guys a year or so to adjust to our OLB position. And he's got to put some weight on. So I will tell myself to not judge this pick until we are into the 2018 season.

I hope this turns out to be like the Shazier pick.

But I will read up more on him, and I'm sure that by this time tomorrow I'll have psyched myself up about it. And I will absolutely pull for him-- he is a Steeler now!

Yep, 3 picks tomorrow. We need DB, RB, DL, and TE help.

In case anyone is concerned, this doesn't necessary mean we're good on outside linebackers. We could spend a day 3 pick on a developmental prospect who could play on special teams immediately. One such player comes from the Washington Huskies.

1'6" you mean? You don't think having two brothers already in the NFL.... hmmm, how to word it? Did they buy him the best combine prep coaches in the business? Can coaching change your long jump? Would an agent get a potential 4th rounder the same kind of coaching a projected 2nd or 1st rounder would get? I don't know? Do you? What's wrong with being damn solid?

  19. To be honest now the dust has settled im good with the pick. I guess we all have guys we would prefer the steelers to draft but it very rarely happens. Like you say watt ticks every box the steelers are looking for and he has a lot of upside. My main area of corncern is those knee injuries in the past and the main reason I wasn't ecstatic about the pick last night, we seem to have more than our fair share of guys banged up but having said that if everything checks out medically which it obviously has I'm good with the pick.

Cap & Beach, why argue about combine numbers between those two guys? Most everything about the league is different now, including combine prep. On tape Watt shows impressive things. He lacks experience, but he shows more on tape than Jarvis Jones did (and many people here liked the Jones pick at the time, excluding me).

This is a classic Steeler 1st round pick, a Junior with good measurables and lots of upside. For a guy with one year of experience I think he's been impressive.
