What happened? This used to be the busiest time on the message board.

I want the Steeler to go defense again this draft but I at some point they need a backup RB and maybe a TE

Maybe some have taken "their ball" and gone home? Seems like egos have clashed and certain people's talents are not being expressed.

I personally think the Steeler's have a great opportunity in this draft to solidify this team for years to come. No lack of talent in this draft. JMHO

    Well, balls.

Me thinks Tony Pauline is right......Watt is considered an early 2nd rounder unless a late 1st round team grabs him for need.......

I'm not sold on Watt. Injuries and non-ideal NFL size are my concerns.

  8. demolisher43 Franchise Player Steelers

The size is something that can be filled out. It's possible teams are hung up on the fact that he isn't an explosive rusher.

I'm not too torn up. Recently I've been reading up on the merits of Takk McKinley and why he wouldn't be a bad choice at 30th overall:

STRENGTHS Relentless worker bee on the field. Refuses to give offensive tackles a snap to catch their breath. Not a content player and is always charging towards the ball. Plus closing burst to sideline enables contain. Makes as many effort plays as anyone in the Pac 12. Unusually adept at bouncing off of blocks and maintaining play focus. Good stop/start change of direction talent. Long strides eat up ground in space. Scouts expect a strong forty time at combine. Combines speed with long arms for increased tackle radius. Became a playmaker. Saw 36 percent of his tackles come within two yards or less of line of scrimmage while sack total spiked considerably. Spins out of wash down blocks to work back towards the play. Consistently stuffs cut attempts. Raw, but pass rush flashes some speed to power. Pass rush counters fueled by lateral agility and effort.

WEAKNESSES Hand skill and overall usage is completely uncultivated and impedes pass rush potential. Lacks slaps, swipes and a serviceable rip move to grease the edge as a rusher. Punch has very little force. Needs to get hands and feet need in unison. Long arms are irrelevant at times due to slow punch. Lacks bend around the edge. Upright pass rush allows tackles to flatten him up and over the rush arc with just an average punch. Movements are a little bit stiff. Redirected too easily. Needs to continue to add play strength. Success predicated on effort over rush talent and functional power. Needs to combine all three elements to his game.

SOURCES TELL US "He was my sleeper headed into the season, but that went out the window with the season he had this year. I think he's a second rounder who needs time but he'll probably get overdrafted. He's going to be a productive pro." - AFC area scout

    NFL COMPARISON Tamba Hali

BOTTOM LINE Ascending edge prospect who racked up impressive TFL and sack numbers this year despite a relatively raw approach and skill set. He's a little stiff in his lower body, but flashes good athleticism once the ball is snapped. McKinley's motor is a translatable characteristic, but improved hand usage and pass rush mechanics are what could elevate his game to another level as a starting, 3-4 outside linebacker.

Another thing that can be blamed on Trump. lol Thanks a lot Donald.

Not sure McKinley makes it past 15-17. As a Ravens fan, I hope to find Derek Barnett on our team by the end of the first night. Pure beast, and GREAT locker room guy.

  11. demolisher43 Franchise Player Steelers

All the buzz is around corners and receivers up in the teens. I think it's very possible McKinley falls. If not, it just means someone else falls. About Barnett, he was a personal favorite of mine all season long and has done what he should have done this draft season to solidify his status as a top-10 pick. I haven't talked about him much lately because there's no chance the Steelers draft him, and little chance the Ravens will even have a shot. I don't see how he makes it past the Bungles at 9.

  12. Is it just me or are these pass rushers really hard to figure out this year? Normally there's a few guys who really jump out at you but in this class appart from the obvious I'm really struggling. They all have great attributes but all seem to have big flaws in there game too. I'm in agreement about derek Barnett, his tape looks great, his numbers at the combine are of concern but he looks much faster on tape.

I'm starting to think it might be better to get a cb in the first and then see who is left at the edge position in the second.

Also would be interested to know people's thoughts on tyus bowser? Is he a guy the steelers could be interested in? He's super athletic and could be a nice addition to this defence.

I'm going to go against conventional wisdom and say the Steelers with the 30th pick in the 2017 NFL draft will take Adam Shaheen TE., Ashland University.

I didn't want to edit so I will just respond to my post. Better yet, the Steelers trade out of the 30th pick for a team who wants a QB and the 5 year contract to an early position in the second round and grab Shaheen.

Why him instead of the guy from MIAMI?

Draftek has us picking your guy in the 2nd at our draft spot though.

Njoku won't be there come 30 and Shaheen won't be there for us in the 2nd IMO.

I saw a mock with the Steelers taking Njoku also.....He'd be a great pick also....I think theres a strong possibility he could be there when the Steelers pick......

I think that is why you keep seeing the Patriots trying to trade Garapolo and Butler so they can swoop in and snag their next Gronk
