Those tackles meant everything when we discussing Timmons and going even further back Larry Foote.
Some of you change your argument with who it is.

TACKLES DON'T MEAN JACK TO ME!!!

well in your new National Flag League you may be right... but in the NFL - it is "tackle" football... or it used to be.... O:)

(aren't you glad I showed back up?)

Re Howard... I'd have no problem with us drafting Howard at #30..... A premier TE just can cause so much carnage... See Wittman in Dallas - Gronk in NE.. etc.. and how about John MAckey TE Baltimore Colts... :) for days of yesteryear (when Lyman was only 72)

For me the L.Green "experiment " is over... I'll stop there...

    enjoy,

thanks for the welcome - appreciate it

My brother-in-law have been caught many a time at Steeler games and Pitt games chanting...

    Run the Ball
    Run the Ball

See 1st and goal from the foot line a few days ago vs NE....

    enjoy,

Tackles never meant everything. Some of you take a small part of an argument and try to make it the whole argument.

Tackles, like most stats, always have to be taken in context. When a player's coaches are saying he's struggling against the run, does it make sense to point at his tackle stats and say, "Yeah, but look at all his tackles!"?

It would be like saying a CB who gives up alot of TDs and a high catch percentage is a great CB because he has alot of INTs.

Where was this mindset during all those years of Reed vs Polamalu???

    :D :D :D

If a LB has triple digit tackles how bad against the run can get be?

You are only projecting part of that writers comments.
He said some of the players were in shock when they traded him because his ability.
We probably will never know the truth but I don't trust anything said by Belichick

I don't recall tackles being a major part of that discussion...other than to say that Reed was a pussy and avoided tackling people! *ROFL* *ROFL*

LIES!! *REF* *REF* That was your main focus......primarily because there was nothing else statistically you could really use

That just doesn't make any sense...I think your memory is off. Statistically, the tackle stats aren't dramatically different between the two players and any difference can be pretty easily explained due to their playing different positions. Troy did more in run support during our debates because he was a SS and Reed played more deep coverage as a FS. I can't imagine I argued statistics in this regard.

Did I say Polamalu was a better tackler? I'm sure I did.

Did I say Polamalu was the better all around football player? I'm sure I did.

Did I say I thought Troy was more dynamic and played everywhere for the Steelers while Reed just sat in a deep zone coverage waiting for balls to be deflected to him? Yup, probably said that too! :p

Ofcourse nit because that doesn't do your current discussion any good. ;)

Sigh. If only SeeBS didn't delete their entire forum history. Yes, you said those things (don't know how a guy is an all around better football player because he's better in run support meanwhile the other guy was also a return threat in addition to being better in coverage) but you also focused on tackles because, well, it's the only statistic that helped. In fact, you argued that his run support stops trumped PDs, INTs, FF, FR, and TDs since all those leaned towards Reed at the time..

Ahh well. At least as of now, we can all agree Reed was the better SS of the two, and the better FS *SHADES*

I can't agree to any such thing! No matter how logical or statistically sound it is!

    couple of kids from Today's North Practice (my comments);

Cooper Kupp WR Eastern Wash - Kid runs great routes, catches real well, and looks like hs has enough speed to taker deep once in a while.. Watch him Saturday

Obi Melifonwu S UConn - Man I wish NY was on.. This is a 6'4" safety - but has great range and gets to the ball...

Haason Reddick ILB Temple - looked fantastic in one on one drills today - but He got a little lost during 11 v 11 action - need to see more of him

Tarell Basham DE Ohio - small school kid real high motor he may a kid you can switch from a DE to a OLB in a 3-4.. Really liked him today - explosive

couple of Olinemen I liked today and need to see more on:

    Tyler Orlosky OC WVU

    Jordan Morgan OG Kutztown

    Julien Davenport OT Bucknell

    Dion Dawkins OG Temple

    enjoy,
