Besides I never said he was bad.
He's out of place and over persues often bit if he keeps playing and fixes those things he'll be an all pro.

At strong safety ;) just kidding

So, you think that a coach would risk losing a playoff game and a shot at the Super Bowl to play a first round pick over a 6th round pick?

You think a coach that is currently playing a 38 year old undrafted free agent over a first round pick, has decided that this particular first round pick is untouchable?

I just don't understand the logic. This team is filled with players that were late round picks and undrafted free agents that are starters and stars, but Vince Williams is being held back because Shazier is a first round pick?

    I don't buy it. Sorry.

And I don't disagree that he misses some plays and is out of place sometimes, but I think you strongly over value what Williams brings to the table based on a couple of decent games. I have seen GIFs of that first Miami game with Williams out of place and missing tackles on several of Ajayi's big runs, but you don't remember that.

I think the right guy is on the field right now, warts and all. Of course, I trust the coaches a bit more than some, so...

Williams was in and out of that game with cramps.
    Timmons was throwing up.
    And you're calling him out?

I'll rewatch tonights game and count all the times Shazier got pushed down the line and lost the receiver he was covering

Watching yesterday's game, the Steelers could really use another CB.
Cockrell is ok but upgrade needed.
    OLB of course.
TE not needed but if no CB or Pass rusher is there OJ Howard would be a welcome addition

  6. Cockrell is ok but Shazier cant play? Im sorry but Brady will abuse Cockrell every possession...I think by the end of the night people will feel sorry 4 him...hes really that bad...btw that must show how bad Gilbert is cause he cant sniff the field on Def

  7. rarebreedsj Franchise Player Steelers

    Never said Shazier can't play

  8. Timmons is thunder and Shazier is lightning...they complement each other well...get rid of Cockrell...hes a weak link

    I kinda agree about Cockrell.
I think the Steelers can upgrade that position but he's better than some.

We'll need somebody at OLB. If Harrison retires and hopefully get rid of Jarvis Jones, a 1st rounder would be a good pick there. All the linebackers would be 1st rounders. Plus Gay is getting up there so DB wouldn't be bad either.....

Edit: Steelers will be picking very late again, as usual.....

IMO, they should pick up a good FA for OLB.

How much cap space do they have? They have to pay Bell & Brown are the 2 top priorities.......

  13. rarebreedsj Franchise Player Steelers

Not sure of the exact number but last I herd they were in good shape

  14. After signing bell and brown to extensions and tuitt in the near future there won't be much left over.

It's a pretty good class for pass rushers and the last few years the steelers have took advantage of the drafts deepest positions. Last year there was some obvious db talent early in the draft and that's where the steelers went. The year before it was a good class for pass rushers at the top and they took Dupree, I see this years class of pass rushers being similar to 2015 and I expect the steelers to take one at the end of the first.

Year Total Liabilities Salary Cap (Projected)
    2017 $129,350,657 $171,326,156
    2018 $102,637,234 $178,000,000
    2019 $71,735,877 $190,000,000
    2020 $21,450,000 $200,000,000

They havery plenty to get everyone and then some.

They only have 39 players under contract for 2017 at this point with Bell, Harrison and Timmons being the primary guys not under contract. Landry Jones is also a UFA that will likely get an offer. They also have guys like Shamarko Thomas, Greg Warren, Ricardo Matthews, Cody Wallace and DeAngelo Williams that could get smaller deals to come back.

I agree they have plenty of room to sign both Bell and Brown and still go shopping in free agency, but the Steelers are more likely to spend their big money on their own guys.

Remember, too, that it isn't just about the cap space for the Steelers. Actual cash spent in one offseason is important aswell. Signing bonuses are paid up front and both Bell and Brown are likely to get BIG up front payments. How much cash will that leave for the Steelers to realistically lure any big name free agent?

While I like the idea of them trying to find an OLB in free agency, I would look for them to sign a younger, unproven guy they think they can develop over a top name that would be looking for top money.

Who will start at OLB if Harrison calls it?
Developing a draft pick would be ideal but recent limited success would dictate bringing in someone who can start.
Moats was a good pick for a back up but that's what you'll get unless you send afew bucks and/or trade.
Ferrior was a great FA pick up as was Green.
The Steelers are in the same situation if Harrison retires.

  18. manosteel9423 Franchise Player Steelers

I agree with you, but history says they won't go crazy and sign a top end guy to huge money. Farrior was a mid-range free agent when they signed him, so was Green. When is the last time they broke the bank for another team's player?

Besides, who is really out there on the free agent market that is worth huge money? The biggest names are all old except Chandler Jones. Could I see them making a run at Jones? I suppose its possible but he's going to command huge money and that just isn't the Steelers way.

  19. rarebreedsj Franchise Player Steelers

It's just an opinion on what they should do compared with what they've done in the past.
    Jerome Bettis is another example.

  20. rarebreedsj Franchise Player Steelers

    Nick Perry
Jamie Collins who can play any LB spot.
    He'd be my pick.
    Melvin Ingram

Not that these players deserve huge money but the Steelers would benefit.

    Here's another name for you.
    John Simon Texans 6-1 250+.
He's an up & coming not sure if he's still available.
