    OLB AT 260 is perfered.
I think Woodley was around 260 when he was drafted.
Bud Dupree is 6-4 270 so..

Don't ever believe what you read in a Steelers Guide, magazine, online, etc. Or any sport for that matter......I have a hard time believing Dupree is 270 lbs. and that fast. I also wonder about Shaziers listed weight. He seems more like his body was made for OLB imo......

Duprees height, weight and speed is what made him a 1st round pick.
Shazier is 6-1 235 but looks like he plays alot lighter than that.
Those thinner guys are terrible for a 3-4 OLB. They cant get by the OT or the TE.
I think that's what held Timmons from being a OLB.
He just didn't have the size.

How big is Harrison? Is he that much bigger than Shazier? Don't believe everythng you read on what the Steelers put out on weight and height. You could probably take at least an inch off height, if not 2.......Shazier seems to be coming into his own lately, so I'd leave him where he's at. Even though he almost looks like a safety.......

  5. Put it this way, Harrison could eat shazier for breakfast..... and still be hungry

In all seriousness tho he's probably 15- 20 pounds heavyier but looks way more due to his stocky short build. Shazier is very lean and Light for a lb which was the main concern coming out but those issues don't seem to show up in games anymore, he's definitely got stronger.

Dupree was listed at 270 when we drafted him but he looks a little lighter now, I'd say 260ish would be his playing weight.

I saw Shazier and Harrison next to each other live at the game, Harrison is WAY bigger.
    Shazier looks like the DB's

That analogy is too simple, and it's not supported at all. He's 6'2" and listed at 272 pounds. I could simply brush this statement aside by saying Walker doesn't have the length necessary to consistently put his hand in the dirt at the next level, but the fact is that he's scheme versatile. Maybe he's not a full-time 3-4 OLB either, which is why a versatile defense like the one the Steelers deploy would be best for him.

Keith Butler has been much better during the second half of the season. If given a player like Walker, I'm pretty sure he'd find use for him.

Also, I guarantee the Ravens would be slobbering for Walker as soon as the first draft day comes to a close.

  8. I watched every game during his 4 yr career(HUGE FSU fan)...hes not a player u can put in space or try and cover guys in the flat...think Bjoern Werner trying to play in a 3-4 and u will have the same results

I doubt there's anything to it.
Although some things look organized most guys are just doing there thing
Shazier was warming up in a Christmas sweat shirt when I was there

Shazier is acting as a LB in a spy capacity...wait til he takes off the mask man!

  11. rarebreedsj Franchise Player Steelers

Or maybe he was trying to make himself look bigger? ;)

  12. LoveTheSteelers Franchise Player Steelers

LOL he warmed up topless last week. He in no way resembles a DB.

    Have you seen Sean Davis?
He could do an abs of steel Comercial

Well that's not a fair comparison! Harrison is a monster but he's spent the past 15+ years building that physique. Shazier looks like a modern ILB, not a DB...no matter how badly you want him to be a Safety! :p

  15. manosteel9423 Franchise Player Steelers

And Sean Davis is the same height as Shazier and 30 lbs lighter. That is what a modern Strong Safety looks like.

  16. rarebreedsj Franchise Player Steelers

    Oh I do!
He could be close to a Polamalu 2.
I have postures of him but he's got on a Christmas sweater

    Harrison Smith is 6-2 220
    Kam Chancello is 6-3 225
    Just to name a couple
    :/

I should mention one of the up & coming FS. Landon Collins is 6-0 225.

I bet Shazier's playing weight isn't much more if that.

He already is, he's just doing it from a different position. They are using Shazier the best way they can, honestly. He's too big to be a Safety and he doesn't have the hips to cover receivers downfield. Troy was incredible, but even he was 20+ lbs lighter than Shazier and he had those DB hips and could cover down the field.

Shazier as a Safety would be a disaster, it really would. He'd be a true liability in deep coverage.

As an ILB, he's very good, and getting better, in coverage against TEs and in the flats in zone, but he's close enough to the LoS to flash into the backfield the way Troy did against the run. He's still a bit out of control sometimes, and that's an issue, but that disruption can be invaluable, as we all remember from Troy's days. Troy didn't always make the play in the backfield either, but his presence flying around back there disrupted the offense enough to let somebody else make the play. That's what Shazier brings and its why he's so valuable to this defense in my opinion.

And I bet you'd be wrong. Shazier weighed in at 237 at the combine and there were reports in 2015 that he had gained 8 pounds of muscle prior to that season. Reports last offseason were that he was working to maximize his weight/speed ratios and wanted to play between 240-245 lbs.

I'd be surprised if he was below 240 lbs right now.
