Teams that have Noah high on their board likely didn't feel the need to see him go through workouts again.

I completely agree with Demo about needing players in the secondary that can tackle. The coverage scheme allows short receptions and demands excellent tackling.

The market for proven players in the secondary looks like it's going to be very expensive. Steelers from the top down have said it has to improve. Free agency and the draft were mentioned. It's going to be very interesting to see if they sign anybody notable in free agency. Sounds like they are working on Gay. Already signed Cockrell and Golden.

Gay, Golden & Golson, that could mess up some announcers.

Reporters covering it said it was unusual for no GMs or HCs to be there Ill take thier word for it.

If Golson is any good? He has to make the team 1st and most mocks have the Steelers picking a DB in the 1st round. They did fine without him last season. No matter how many of you want the Steelers to pick a DL, most mocks have them picking a DB! :D

Prisco or CBS has Alexander out of the 1st round now. Prisco has been changing his mind a lot, duh? Now he's gone from jackson to Fuller this week......

Either would be a horrible pick @25.

The 3rd CB is kind of up in the air for me, i would agree that the DB area is not where the strength of BPA would be at that pick but it would be interesting to see how teams are rating these cb's- jackson certainly flashes a lot.

Heads up, ill be drafting for PIT in the second collaborative draft next week, ill be happy to listen to all input you guys have- feel free to let me know what you think are PIT's pressing needs.

I have tendancy to occasionally look passed red flags but ill do my best to draft more inline with the steeler ethos.

If the Steelers pick a CB I think I'd lean towards Apple. The talent is there he does get his head around and can locate the ball.
It's been said Jalen getting his head around is questionable ;)

If one of the big NT aren't there I'm hoping they go DB.

Not that I expect this, but Zierlein has a 3.0 mock out now and has us drafting QB Paxton with the 25th pick. I personally wouldn't be upset with this pick, knowing the crap that is on the bench behind Roethlisberger. I know it would be completely out of character for the Steelers to draft a QB in the first round when we have franchise QB still playing, but Ben is getting long in the tooth and I wouldn't mind seeing something proactive done instead of waiting for a losing record to address it. Spearchucker Jones is terrible and not the answer IMHO.

Like I said... I don't expect it nor am I wishing for it, but if Paxton is possibly the next franchise QB for the Steelers I will welcome the pick.

Everyone on this sight will disagree with drafting a QB.
Personally I think it's a good idea if it's the right one.
Ben is still one of the best but he is beat up and I wonder how long it will be before he can't do it anymore.
Getting caught off guard trying to fill a spot like this is very very hard.
Look at how many teams struggle to find a franchise QB.
I hope the Steelers don't make the same mistake they did when Hartings left or was retiring

Tashawn gipson gone. Weddle leaning towards raiders (not worth it at 7mil a year for 31 year old S anyway) Are there any other guys worth taking a chance on that's an upgrade over golden starting in FA? It's disappointing that they could have really addressed it with gipson by restructuring a few guys and getting a real good player but instead hoping on scraps once again and maybe Doran Grant converting to S. Waiting to see what real steps they'll take to improve upon one of the worst passing D's in the league. Yeah our O will score 30+ every game but if our D gives up 35+ then kind of kills the point.

They will do what they always do...plug holes with mid/lower level free agents and build through the draft.

If you really thought they were going to go after a top end free agent, you haven't been a fan of this team for very long.

They are plugging holes in the roster to open themselves up in the draft to be able to take the best player available to them. Likely the best defensive player available, but not necessarily the best DB available.

I would expect they take CB, S, DL in the first 3 rounds and hopefully in that order, but they will let the board decide that.

Personally, I never had any interest in Eric Weddle, and Gipson, while younger, is not the answer for this team. He's a small FS that got over $7M/year! No way the Steelers were going to pay that for a guy they don't need. They have a FS, they need a SS. A guy that can cover and hit and not get injured in the process. That's not Gipson. They'll find that guy in the draft hopefully, and if not we'll roll with Robert Golden.

I may be used to seeing this but was hoping something different. There is an urgency here as Ben is reaching the end of his career. You would think 4-5 years tops for the guy. With all the guys that will be looking for bank soon the time to get that SB win or a few is now. They are so close. With the Bronco's selling everything and the Patriots most likely facing suspension enforcement with golden boy who else is really the favorite to get there? Getting a proven safety would put them over the top as 2 good safeties could mask CB weakness or youth.

Obviously, we have Will Allen out there

I've heard the name Isa Abdul-Quddus thrown around, but not real familiar with him.

I really liked Taylor Mays coming out, but wouldn't touch him now.

At the moment, we have Golden and Shark to battle it out. 90% chance we also draft a safety.

Dont they always try to have a least one former Steeler on the roster?

Looks like the Steelers got a 6th round Comp pick (#220 overall)...pretty much bottom of the barrel

There's more than enough reason to believe the Steelers are set on looking to the draft for a new safety. The safeties will start to go in the second round, but there's an 80% chance someone will fall who fits what the Steelers need. Miles Killebrew is my favorite and his range is huge - anywhere from second to fourth. To me, there's no way he should fall out of the second round, though. The Steelers will be lucky if he falls to them.

    Better than I expected.

I'd be happy with Kilebrew as well demo. Him and Cash are the two I hope they are looking very closely at. Both would have the opportunity to fight for a starting spot.
