He might not even be the #1 TE on their board.

So a player that goes 51 receptions without a drop is average. Then Antonio Brown must be below average because he can't go 51 receptions without a drop. Glad we got this straight now. Bryant must be a piece of shit because he has drops every game.

    Anybody watch Billings run ?
    Wow!!!! He's a little short 6ft but ran a 5.06 40 at 311.
    Casey jr.
    Hey Tomlin u watching ?

  4. rarebreedsj Franchise Player Steelers

Kenny Clark in the 2nd would be a steel.

Just went and looked @ the Hunter Henry highlites, anyone that thinks the Steelers pass on him is crazy. This guy has Gronk Jr written all over him. He catches well in space and in traffic, has good speed for a TE and is a first Rd product.

I don't think anyone is doubting he's a good prospect but, if I'm reading this right, we think there's more value in drafting on the defensive side of the ball early in the draft.
If Henry is just a big WR with a T.E title he adds little value to a team well stocked with receivers.

For those who think Hunter is just a pass catching novelty that cant help the Steelers this is what a few different draft previews have said about his blocking.

    Hey all.

I would like to open the floor to adjusting the warboard that Beach posted on the other thread. As i understand we should leave all discussions here so that the other thread can just be updated by beach and only contain the warboard so its easy to find.

I would also preface this by stating that i know its always been the steeler warboard but i will attempt to also speak from the ravens perspective and will obviously omit players if you guys want.

EDIT: i started moving players around below but ithink it might be best to do it in sections ast his will take forever- sorry beach

Players in Blue are guys I REALLY like

1 Laremy Tunsil OT Mississippi _ best player in the draft imo
2 Jalen Ramsey CB Florida St- Stud at safety or CB
3 Myles Jack OLB UCLA - personally very high on his pass rushing prowess and i think he is healthy given his latest presser
4 Jared Goff QB California- Omit.
5 Joey Bosa DL Ohio St - Solid player but im not wow'd by him, i would take him at 6 though
6 Ronnie Stanley OT Notre Dame - just a notch below Tunsil for me, great player and a colossal frame
7 DeForest Buckner DL Oregon - LOVE THIS KID - prototypical 3-4 end for both our teams, could be a great pick
8 Ashawn Robinson DL Alabama - I find him to be absurdly stoud at the PoA
9 Laquon Treadwell WR Mississippi- fantastic body control and hands- i DONT CARE THAT HE ISNT 4.4 fast
10 Carson Wentz QB N. Dakota St - Omit
11 Vernon Hargreaves CB Florida i think there is a drop off after vernon and jalen, i just like the guys above him a bit more, he has ball playing skills which is rare for me
12 Andrew Billings DL Baylor S similar to robinson, they might even be interchangeable to some, he will rise on boards- he has HUGE upside and a fantastic frame
13 Ezekiel Elliott RB Ohio St - this might be too high but i wasnt sure where to put him, has a tonne of talent
14 Shaq Lawson DL Clemson - Probably plays olb in a 3-4, seems stout against the run
15 Reggie Ragland LB Alabama - Best ILB in the draft and i think he is going to make someone very very happy, love his instincts- i really think PIT would be in for a steal if they grab a sliding ILB in the draft. i cant stress how much i think he is perfect for either of us.
16 Robert Nkemdiche DL Mississippi - red flags too much? upside could be huge?
17 Eli Apple CB Ohio St - defo riser by draft time, good frame but lacks a bit of technical prowess, feet are "meh" and strength might be an issue for the AFC NORTH
18 Darron Lee LB Ohio St- solid i prefer the bama lb though- might be an ommit, i think he is too small for either of us.
19 Noah Spence OLB E. Kentucky - loads of talent and i think there is something about him to me that screams " people are severely overlooking his talent"
20 Jaylon Smith LB Notre Dame- needs about 15lbs or more even, i think he has a great burst but im not sure if he fits either of our scheme
21 Jarran Reed DL Alabama- another 1 tech for me, strong at the PoA but i dont think he has the feet nor the hands to disengage double teams.
22 Taylor Decker OT Ohio St- great frame but lord his feet scare the shit out of me, he seems far too static, im scared for him in pass pro especially at LT
23 Corey Coleman WR Baylor- i just dont like him, honestly he wouldnt be on the board for me, after treadwell id wait until the later rounds.
24 Leonard Floyd OLB Georgia - not sure about this kid, i was high on him around Dec but he has fallen off, id prefer Jack or Floyd by quite a margin
25 Sheldon Ranklins DL Louisville- it hink i want him higher than Reed at 21, but then i guess we should move reed down a bit then switch these two.
26 Cody Whitehair OG Kansas St - Beast and a safe pick- really want him- infact i want to move him up. top 20 talent this year imo.
27 Jonathan Bullard DL Florida - dev player but good ceiling, needs about 20lbs at least
28 Kevin Dodd DL Clemson quite the gap between him and buckner for me but he could do a job at DE for either of us- not much tape to go off , risky
29 Kenny Clark DL UCLA- Dev but high ceiling, he has great body control from his wresting background, he could be one to watch
    30 Paxton Lynch QB Memphis-Omit
31 Emmanuel Ogbah DL Oklahoma St frame is fine, motor sucks, im fine with a potential omit here
32 Mackensie Alexander CB Clemson EHHHHHH dont like him but dont think its worth omitting him

Might be a good idea to do these in batches of round's if you will?

Aim for about 150-200 at the most players on the board?

Personally Id move Spence down. Too much risk IMHO. Sure he may have cleaned himself up but can you ever really call a drug user clean? Maybe once he gets big money he is even worse than he was in college. Add to that his interviews have been shaky and his 40 time is slow and I don't think I touch him in the first round even if I'm desperate.

16 Robert Nkemdiche DL Mississippi - red flags too much? upside could be huge?

Ya Think!! Anyone listen to his press conference yesterday? He was asked questions about the hotel room incedent and he was doing alright until a member of the press asked this Question "Was there any other teammates with you that night in Atlanta?"

His Response......."ummmmm yeah, Laremy was there" as in the #1 prospect in the draft.

What a time to drop that bomb.

  11. beachbum M.V.P. Manager Steelers

I agree on Spence. I think the Steelers would pass in the first round. Nkemdiche can just come off the board completely. No way would the Steelers take him. Aside from the off-the-field issues he has admitted to taking plays off. They wouldn't take him in the 7th round.

  12. beachbum M.V.P. Manager Steelers

2k you've always been a part of the war board. Your input is needed.

  13. igloofn68 Guest

I think Spence's stock will rise as it gets closer to the draft.

BTW, was watching Mike & Mike this morning and Golic, a DL himself for 9 years, doesn't think the 40 makes any sense for most players because they actually never run that far. He thinks they should drop it as in Von Miller running 10 yards with a burst of speed to make sacks. So Golic says Dl and OL never get near a 40 yard play. So why are they using it to rate some players? He says they just use 10 & 20 yard dash to rate most of these guys? And he has a point, imo.....

Maybe a better test for D & O linemen would be to time how long it takes them to push a 400 pound sled 10 yards downfield? That would be more of a measure how they will perform when blocking or trying to beat a blocker.

  15. igloofn68 Guest

Agreed! It would be more like what they actually do in a game. They DON'T run 40's in a game!

  16. LoveTheSteelers Franchise Player Steelers

How many players can we agree are the "special players" that Colbert likes to identify each year? That is as good a place as any to start and doesn't require much position research. These are mine in the order they appear on the war board:

1 Joey Bosa DL Ohio St
    2 Laremy Tunsil OT Mississippi
    5 Myles Jack OLB UCLA
    8 DeForest Buckner DL Oregon
12 Ezekiel Elliott RB Ohio St
20 Jaylon Smith LB Notre Dame
    27 Leonard Floyd OLB Georgia
    34 Hunter Henry TE Arkansas

Not all would fit in Pittsburgh and it is likely all these guys will be off the board by pick 25 but which of these guys are not "special" enough to warrant a pick if they fall that far?

  17. Ravens2k Franchise Player Ravens

I dont think 12 20 27 and 34 are special talents. I feel as though special means that there is a low chance of bust and they pass the tape test easily.

Personally, i think other than the ones you mentioned, i would say that my 12 ( billings) my 15 Ragland and on pure talent alone...i might get slated for this but i think spence might be special.

Oh and dont sleep on Stanley, he isnt that far behind Tunsil at all.

    2k

Edit- i Take back the comment on 34, he could be, i just dont know how easily one can assert a TE to be special but i think you are on to something. Floyd, i like a lot but he seems to be sliding and im not sure if it is one of those draft stock slides because the hype fades OR if there is genuine reason to be down on the kid. Floyd at one point was a top 20 lock for me and then he faded but im not sure if he actually did anything wrong- it COULD be a case of others being hyped up... he might be a toughy to rank

I made a few errors in there which ill go back and fix.

    I CANT MULTIQUOTE.

Jean- i see your point but I cant quite convey how little i give a poop about ones 40 time. He plays fast on the field and he has a knack for just getting the ball. I am on board with being careful about how we rank him but lets say in 3 years we all look back and just go ...HOW DID WE MISS HIM?

I feel as though both our teams, more so your team these days, have strong locker rooms that can handle this sort of kid very well. AND he would represent high talent value.

Roc- Eh...i see your point. his talent is somewhat undeniable but i suppose he is just way too immature to be considered on the board. Out of the two risky picks that i somewhat like, i would potentially bang the table for Spence to stay on the board

Several teams failed him on his medical at the combine. Nerve issues with his injured knee. Kid's career could be over before started. Wisely, he took out an insurance policy that pays him 700k if he's not drafted in the first round and 100k for every spot he falls after round 1 with a cap of 5M.
