    Lead the way Mano
I'm sure you'll get enough of us to participate, maybe not at NY & bb level, they are special, but adequate.

That is a huge endeavor! How about a Steeler target list rather than an entire war board? NYbites is a savant with this stuff, who else would step up to do that? I'm sure demo could do it, but does he want to?

I could put together a spreadsheet that can this be easily sorted by rank, position, etc. I used to do it for Bites. We could start with NFLDraftscout's Top 300 and then edit as we see fit.

One nice thing about this year is we can safely include both DTs and 3-4 DEs. It's clear they want linemen who can penetrate now.

Still can't include all the DEs unfortunately because the coaches still want pass rushers who can drop.

    Haha...I wasn't really volunteering!!

However, in its infancy, I am the one the who put the actual board together for the first couple of years, merging the various positional groups.

It is a ridiculous amount of work and I am not convinced I have the time for it anymore, but if enough people sign on to scout positional groups, I would be happy to give it a go. It will likely be a much less accurate board without the dedication of those two guys, but it would still be fun to have something to go from on draft day.

Anyone who wants to put together a list of players from a position group, let me know. If we get all the positions covered, I'll do my best to sort through them.

That would be very helpful and a great place to start! I was never great with spreadsheets...I did the first couple by hand! It was nightmare to move players up or down the list!

If you could make the spreadsheet from the Top 300, then separate it into positional groups, then whoever takes that group has a list to go by when he scouts the position. All that person would then need to do is re-order the group however he sees fit given the Steelers bias. Then it should just be plug and play on your spreadsheet, right?

With the exception of CB I'll what position you want to assign me.
CB is very hard, Curtis Brown and Kyle Wilson still haunt me.

Kind of. We would still have to determine where they rank vs the other positions.

True enough. However, when you sort it positionally, would it not still show their overall ranking? If it did, that would at least give us a guideline to follow while putting the initial board back together.

For example, they have CB Cre'von LeBlanc listed as the 185th best prospect and CB Mike Hilton as the 192nd. They are 24th and 25th respectively at their position. If we decide to move Hilton ahead of LeBlanc, it would make sense that Hilton would then be slotted around 185th on the overall list, don't you think?

At least when we put together the initial board, I think that's how to do it. Then its just moving guys up and down based on preference for position and how we think the team might see them.

  10. beachbum M.V.P. Manager Steelers

Yes it would but any change would first be done on the overall prospect list and then when sorted they would automatically go up or down on the positional list. So if we gave Rarebreed CBs and there were ranked...

    3 Jalen Ramsey
    11 Mackensie Alexander
    14 Vernon Hargreaves
    31 Eli Apple

... and he wanted to make Apple his #2 ranked CB he would have to say...

Move Apple to #10 on big board behind #9 Ashawn Robinson DT and drop Alexander down to #13 below Ezekiel Elliott RB.

LOL and I read that wrong. Breed said any position EXCEPT cornerback. Oops.

Hell, I wouldn't even trust me with the waterboys section of the War Board. :D

Here's the Special Team guys we should have on our board:

    NONE

lol Even if I did want to, I don't know if I could. Ask me 8 years ago and I would've said absolutely, but I'm an adult now and have my time occupied with work and acting.

I'm down with positional analysis, though. Give me the safeties. If no one else wants the corners, I can take those too, but don't stick them on me right away.

I disagree! We desperately need a legitimate kick and punt returner! I don't care what positional group he comes out of...WR, CB, RB, whatever...but this team really needs to have a kick returner that is not a starter at another position. I cringe every time AB catches a punt and starts running.

  17. StlCrtn Franchise Player Steelers

I think they have a good option to return kicks in Jordan Todman (a career 25.85 YPR) and a punt returner in possibly Sammie Coates. I'm not really sure if he's done much of that at Auburn; but with a full offseason to work on that technique, he could be a n answer.

Todman is a free agent. As he seems to be 4th on the depth chart its doubtful he is back next season.

I hold my breath every time Brown returns a punt! He's far to valuable to risk getting him destroyed on a punt return!

Coats and Bryant are two guys that would have been first round picks if they weren't know to drop passes throughout their college careers. Guys who are know to drop passes aren't punt or kick return material in the NFL.

I sure as hell don't want to see Wheaton returning punts! I'm sure it's a position the Steelers will be addressing through FA or the draft.

They signed Levi Norwood to a futures contract. He was a pretty good return man in college.
