Then you didn't read what Cam Heyward had to say about Cam Heyward the summer before his 3rd year. He said he had to learn how to be a professional and the importance of building up his stamina. He dropped 20lbs between 2012 and 2013 and got himself in shape so he could become a full-time player.

There is a different look at some of the 1st round players like Heyward
Who had very good starters in front of him and that gave extra time to develope.

All this isn't saying I think a player should be a all pro his first year.
So far I like Dupree's development in his first season.
He's contributing and is probably where anyone could actually expect him to be.

Not really, he was on the field exclusively to end the game against the Ravens and every game except for the Cards and the Raiders it was James as well (not including his injury). It might have been different against the Colts as I missed the game.
Not really considering that the Steelers have missed picks in recent years and everyone's opinion is valid until proven otherwise regardless of what you or I may think.

And I disagree based on what I see. I still see a player that is not "converting speed to power" or progressing quickly in the run game. He's a weak version of Courtney Upshaw so if the standard is a role player or situational player with limited upside then he will probably reach the standard. I expect more from a first round pick whether it is realistic or not.

You said Jones is playing good football. You guys need to watch him and not the stat sheet.

Up until that point no one was even talking about stats.

I said Not basing it all on stats but they are a factor or else why bother to keep them?

So I didn't introduce stats as a basis for my opinion but they are part of the equation. My opinion is based on a lot of things.

I can't see how you can call me hypocritical for introducing something to the discussion that you introduced first. :)

It is projecting but he is physically WAY more impressive than Jones and gets after it on every play.

It's not unrealistic to view Dupree's upside as higher than Jones by a country mile.

    1) No, not everyone's opinion is valid. This isn't elementary school where everyone has to hold everyone's hand for coming up with some baseless idea that's entirely conjured by knee-jerk reactions and impossible standards.

    2) Every team has missed picks in recent years. As hard as it may be to believe, not a single NFL team has been or ever will be 100% on the money in a draft or a series of drafts. What point were you trying to make?

You must think Casey Hampton was a terrible player.

You're telling me your eyes are glued to Jarvis Jones on every defensive play, and you know he's a bad player because reasons? Oh wait, I meant "he doesn't convert speed to power," which is so far a baseless, proof-less claim. Your reaction to my challenging you will be, "I see what I see, and if you don't, that's on you."

Please, don't try serving up bullshit and calling it a delicacy. You know damn well stats play a big role in your opinion of Jarvis Jones, and the only reason you say it doesn't is because James Harrison, the hero had until the Colts game the same amount of sacks as Jones on the season with more snaps under his belt.

P.S., Jones doesn't just rush the passer, as he showed beautifully in his INT Sunday night when he dropped into zone coverage and fooled a 40-year-old QB.

With all of this haranguing and ballyhoo (bullshit), I've lost the question to this discussion. Is it 'who has been a more impactful player... Jarvis Jones or James Harrison'? Stats and the "eye test" are typically the ONLY methods of proof, but then you have the X factor... perception. Upside or potential is not a true or realistic variable. One of you guys could "potentially" sprout wings and start flying around. Based on the eye test, I'd say Harrison is a better pass rusher. Jarvis Jones is better in coverage, for obvious reasons.

That people are free to criticize if they like because the Steelers front office is not perfect in what they do.

But that's ok. I think you're a doo-doo head so your opinion is worthless.

See how that works? You can't just blast somebody because you disagree with them espescially when you make yourself look like a tool (like you just did) when you do it.

Beacbum and I are disagreeing but unless I missed something it is a discussion and not an argument so either join in/butt out or fuck off. Whatever makes you happy sunshine.

You'd probably do better thinking before you post.

    Yawn...

Unless your eyes are glued on Jarvis every play you are discrediting yourself in the same breath.

Don't tell me what I think, why I think it or how I come to my conclusions. Based on your post you have trouble enough coming to your own.

    You know damn well

Not a big draft guy but what is the consensus on Jayron Kearse with the 32nd pick of course...

  9. demolisher43 Franchise Player Steelers

Disagreeing strongly with honesty is not "blasting," but in this PC-obsessed world I can see why you would take it as such. Since that mentality colors the rest of your post, I won't bother responding to it. Your arguments (discussing different opinions is an argument, no matter how heated; I never intended to bicker or quarrel) are tired, parroted campaign lines that misinformed fans use all the time in attempt to explain why the Steelers supposedly draft poorly. No team is perfect, so take your own advice and don't put words in my mouth.

  10. gregg Guest

Your arrogance only shows your fraudulence. Who the fuck are you to claim any fan is misinformed because they disagree with you. When you get a front office job let me know. You accuse me of putting words in your mouth AFTER you try and tell me how I think. If you don't want it to be argumentative don't be a petty dickhead.

Your attempt to discredit my opinion by touting some weak line about "parroting" other fans is a joke. Just because you can't handle when someone disagrees with you doesn't give you the excuse to use the "nuh uh" line of reasoning.

He's definitely an interesting prospect. A huge kid for the position, has the skills to redefine the prototype but he will need to refine his game at the next level.

Don't do it breed, I smell a trap! I am 98% sure the Browns get pick 32 in 2016.

  19. Lyman "Franchise Asshole" Browns Buckeyes

Yep. There are only 31 first round picks in 2016. The Patriots forfeited their 1st round pick due to deflategate.
