You got to know when to hold'em
    know when to fold them
    know when to walk away
    know when to run.

We have 5 picks this year maybe all 5 need to be DBs

I like McClendon but think he's better as or would be better subbing all 3 DL positions.

I mentioned the QB thing because it seams like Ben has been getting injured more often this year. Don't know how much more his body can take before he says that's it.
He had a bad day today but he is still a very good QB I just hope the Steelers don't wait to find a future franchise QB till he gone like they did at Center and SS.

Maybe if his name was Hackenberger.

The Steelers made their most dramatic rise in the draft order this weekend in months. That's what happens when you embarrass yourself.

  10. Pitt needs 2 dip back into Mich St and select Conklin and then go after a DB/S

we have 5 picks? I thought we had 6? I thought we got back a pick for trading our punter?

We need to definately get a couple of corners and safety. need O-line depth along with D-line depth.

Will we have 4 though? I don't think Jones gets retained. He still gets beat up at the line too much. Just look at what Dupree is doing compared to Jarvis.

If a pass rusher is the best player available when we pick I will have no problems with taking him.

Jones is playing good football. You guys need to watch him and not the stat sheet.

Could be we have 6 I was going off of something I had read in a previous post.

Not basing it all on stats but they are a factor or else why bother to keep them? He has 1 and a half sacks and only 11 tackles. He's just not making the kind of impact that you should see from a guy drafted that high. I see him getting stood up at the line a lot. He also struggles to shed blocks. James Harrison sees more snaps because he is a clearly better option even at 37 years of age.

I know it's hindsight but Ogletree and Collins are clearly better players that we could have drafted. Some picks just don't pan out.

I know I might be getting torn up for this comment, but It seems like Timmons has lost a step or 2 this year or needs to lose some weight, but his coverage abilities have fallen off dramatically. I always see him trailing big time when he's in coverage. Maybe move him to the mack and shazier into his role, maybe Shazier will stay on the field more. He's counting 15M against the Cap next year, with that kind of money we can't afford to have that dramatic of a fall off in production from him.

What is the likelihood of us drafting an ILB this year?

Where he is drafted is irrelevant and he doesn't struggle to shed blocks. He fights through them very well. The perception of Jones reminds me of the perception of Gay and Spaeth for years. Like Jones, they struggled (somewhat) early and forever Gay became the guy that "can't cover" and Spaeth became the guy that "can't block" when in reality they shed those labels years ago.

p.s. Not that it matters but he has 2 sacks and 23 tackles. Harrison has 2 sacks and 25 tackles and has played 70 more snaps than Jarvis.

I was counting by hand on rotoworld and missed the half sack but he has 11 solo tackles on the season. Sorry for the confusion. You mentioned the number of snaps and that has a lot to do with James playing on almost all the pass rushing situations.

Jarvis sets his edge and does what he is asked but he does get locked on and struggles to disengage at times. He looks weak a lot of the time as well.

I do think that where these guys are picked matters. A first round pick is a guy that you are really high on expect him to make a big difference for your team. It's the reason why they are selected as early as they are. Jones has not lived up to that and appears to still have a long way to go.

Do you believe the Steelers will pick up his option?

Cam Heyward didn't start until a 1/3 of the way through his third season. Not until his 4th season did anyone realize he had the potential to be as good as he is now.

Yes, barring injury they will pick up his option. He is getting better and better every week.

BTW, they rotate series at OLB. They don't bring Harrison in on passing downs. Wouldn't say much for James if they did.

    Cam was a bust too!

    So was Timmons.

    Shazier is now a bust.

Jarvis has been a bust since the middle of his rookie season.

Patience is not a virtue this fanbase is blessed with...
