I don't care about flack. It was intended as a joke because the kid is Steeler tough - look, he tackles trees! But in typical Steeler fan fashion, humor is mostly wasted.

Or maybe it just wasn't funny. *REF*

You forgot the important stats. How many sacks and tackles for a loss did he get on these trees?

So what Ive seen Kids that can knock a dead tree down its not that tough is the point I'm trying to make. Sheesh you probably wet your pants when Reagan Maui'a ran through a piece of drywall

Who is Devin Gardner? Any body know if he is any good? He is a former QB/WR, any potential?

He was not very good as a QB at Michigan. He was easily rattled his 2 years as a starter. They might have plans to try him out at WR, but he looks to be a camp body and that's all.

I would compare him to Ziggy Hood more than Timmons, wasn't Timmons starting position cemented by year 3? JJ hasn't even done that yet.

Ziggy is a 3 technique, even Colbert admitted as much after the fact. I'm optimistic Shade Tree continues to blossom and he's a big piece to have on your chess board.

Coates is wearing Lima Beans old #. Hopefully he breaks the curse

JJ was a starter up until his broken forearm. He made strides from his rookie year and I can forsee further strides being made again this year. It looks like it will be JJ on the weak side and a combination of Harrison/Moats/Dupree on the strong side this year.

Not sure how you get that. He's a 16 game starter and probably a pretty productive one without the fluke injury last year.

article in either Post or Trib, maybe Depot... had this kid as a potential "Slash" candidate... very quick with good flat line speed... good hands and not all that bad a passer. He was very willing to drop QB position for WR, excelled and wore the #98 jersey for best team mate at Michigan. Apparently a very good "head" with above average skills... we'll see...

EDIT: yeah, just found it... BTSC article (of course, it was the only one I didn't list !)

I wonder why the Steelers are bringing in all these WR's ?

Of all the positions I thought that one was the strongest as far as both starters and depth.

Camp bodies or in the case of Gardner the ability to add a wrinkle to the playbook perhaps.

They have doubts about AB. That's the only possible explanation! *ROFL*

I think they view it as a position with potential immediate impact even with so-called cast-offs placed in the right situation...or camp bodies n such! They don't eat as much as the big uglies....

Steelers Depot sugest that the Steelers will keep 8 WRs between the active roster and the practice squad.

Bookmark that one. I'd be very surprised to see that actually happen.

Wouldn't be that odd 5 on the active and 3 on the 10 man practice. If they go 6 on the active that leaves 2 to the practice squad.

Why would you hog up 30% of the PS spots for WRs alone?
Like in 12 Angry Men: it's possible but not very probable.
And besides the Detroit Lions, what other NFL team keeps 8 WRs? Ok, and Oakland.

  20. no idea how devin would do at WR, but he sucks at QB. he's quick and a good instinctive runner with the ball.
