Steelers Draft and Mel Kiper sucks thread!!

  1. Yeah I would definitely take Peterson before Jones, really don't want him to land to the Ravens. I would actually throw a guy like Malcolm brown into the mix also. If more cb's and pass rushers go than expected he could be BPA.

I would pay good money to see the steelers board right know. Would love to know how many if any of Peterson, Ray and Gregory are on the steelers board?

I think they will always look talent and ...i have gordon pretty high, i have heard a lot about how BAL really like him so im just saying that i wouldnt be surpised if we went that way. My preference would be Ray>peters>greg i think if it falls like that, then gordon.

    2K,

Is Bernard Pierce still a Raven? I liked him at U of Temple and thought he was doing ok for the Ravens early on... You guys need WR help too?

    enjoy,

  4. StlCrtn Franchise Player Steelers

Nope. I am pretty sure he was released early this offseason after another run-in with the law.

  5. Ravens2k Franchise Player Ravens

Stl is right, he had a DUI or something and was released, so right now i believe we have justin and lorenzo right now, another RB wouldnt be bad at all, its just not a huge deal and i like both Gordon and Todd sooooo i wouldnt be mad at the pick

    1. Leonard Williams, DT, USC, 6-5, 302. nobody can aruge he is not BPA.

    4. Amari Cooper, WR, Alabama. 6-1 200. Plug and play, more polished than White.
    5. Kevin White, WR, West Va. 6-3, 210. Bigger and faster than Cooper, I like Cooper's numbers.
    6. Trae Waynes, CB, Mich. St, 5-11, 188. Best at his positon in draft, plays off and press.
    7. Danny Shelton, DT, Washington. 6-2, 0.175 Tons, Better than Raji, I'm coming around on him.
    8. Shane Ray, DE, Missouri, 6-2, 245. Like him better after doing more research. I reserve the right to change my mind.
    9. Brandon Scherff, OL, Iowa, 6-5 319, Probably one of the safest picks in the draft, day 1 starter
    10. Bud Dupree, OLB, Kentucky, 6-4 269. Huge upside, a great piece of clay to mold
    11. Malcolm Brown, DT, Texas, 6-2, 320. Big, Powerful, hard to move.
    12. Kevin Johnson, CB, Wake Forest, 6-0 190, added bulk for combine
    13. DeVonte Parker, WR, Louisville, 6-2 210. Solid player, third best WR in the draft by many.
    14. Eddie Goldman, DT, Florida St. 6-4 336, Huge Dude, postion flexible, eats up blockers/space.
    15. Marcus Peters, CB, Washington, 5-11 190, outstanding corner with questionable character.
16 . Eric Rowe, CB/S, Utah, 6-1 205, Ran well at the combine, Steelers have a man crush on him.

    17. Bryon Jones, CB, Uconn, 6-0 190, height weight speed, numbers off the chart
    18. Jalen Collins, CB, LSU, 6-1. 190, huge upside, limited starts
    19. La'el Collins, OT, LSU. Versitale vs. run or pass, does everything well.
    20. Erick Flowers, OT, Miami, 6-6 329 Road grater, not the slickest of foot, but very powerful.
    21. Preston Smith, OLB/DE, Mississippi State, 6-5 270. relentless, sheds blocks, does everything well.
    22. Quentin Rollins, CB, Miami (OH), another freak athlete that has a high ceiling.
    23. Eli Harold, OLB, Virginnia, 6-3 247. Active Pass Rusher with upside.
24 Breshaud Perriman, WR, Central FLA. 6-3 210, forget he played in the AAC, he is talented.
    25. Cameron Erving, OG, Florida State, 6-5 313. Value pick, plays all 5 OL positons, durable.
26.. Laken Tomlinson, OG, Duke,6-3 323. Massive compact Guard, great in a phone booth. Handled Danny Shelton, plug and play starter from day 1.
    27. Arik Armstead, DT Oregon, 6-7 290, A Calais Campbell Clone with upside. Jalen Strong, WR, Ariona 6-2, 217, locates the ball, highpoints it, strong hands.
28 Melvin Gordon, RB, Wisconsin, 6-1 215. Footwork in traffic, durable.. odometer is up there.
    29. Nelson Agholar, WR, USC, 6-0 190 ; quite possibly the best route runner at the combine
    30. Andrus Peat, OT, Stanford. No Character concerns, huge wingspan, needs to be meaner.
    31. Randy Gregory, OLB, Nebraska 6-5., 235. Freak pass rusher, issues with Marijuana issues, credibility issues, cannot maintain weight. You would think so with having the munchies all the time he could gain some lbs.

    32. Damorious Randall, S, Arizona State 5-11 193, best cover safety in draft
    33. Landon Collins, SS, Alabamba, 6-0, 220, in the box safety with some range.
    34. Todd Gurley, RB, Georgia, 6-1 220. Best RB in draft comes with a bum knee
35.Jalen Strong, WR, Arizona State, 6-2 210., Steelers are interested, may slide due to wrist injury. Not elusive, but highpoints the ball in traffic.

    36. Danielle Hunter, OLB, LSU, 6-5 252, A bigger but less talented version of Randy Gregory
    37. Nate Orchard, OLB, Utah, 6-3 250, one year wonder but he gets to the QB.
    38. Jordan Phillips, DT, Oklahoma, 6-5 329. Very raw, very scary dude with high ceiling.plays hot and cold
    39. TJ Clemmings, OT, Pittsburgh, 6-5 309. Similar to Humphries, but even more raw.
    40. Markus Golden, OLB, Mizzzouri, 6-3 260, strong side OLB perfect fit for Scheme
    41. Ronald Darby, CB, Florida State, 5-11 188. quick feet and back pedal, very fast.
    42. DJ Humphries, OT, Florida, 6-5 307, athletic, great feet, not sure if he upgrades beachum.
    43. Owamagbe Odighizuwa DE, UCLA, 6-3 267, athletic, dsiruptive, injury concerns
    44. AJ Cann, OG, South Carolina, 6-3. 313, rocks solid, I like Tomlinson better
    45. Xavier Cooper, DT, Washington State, 6-4, 298, great depth at the 5, can line up anywhere.
    46. Maxx Willims, TE, Minnesota. 6-4 250. Best TE in a very weak class
    47. TJ Yeldon, RB, Alabama, 6-1 218. Perfect Compliment to Bell and if he is there in round 3, I run up to the Podium with the card.

    48. Bernardrick McKinney, ILB, Mississippi St. Thumper, some range, NFL starter
    49. Doran Grant CB Ohio State 5-11 193 moving up boards after solid pro day

    50. Jay Ajayi, RB, Boise State, 6-0 220, NFL sized Battering Ram, But like Johnson better. Has an injury which may drop him.
    51. Trey FLowers, OLB, Arkansas, 6-2 266. Steelers have an interest, he has a huge wingspan
    52. Phillip Dorsette, WR, Miami, 5-10 185. You cannot coach 4.2. Production at Miami is more reflective of irratic QB play than his abililty
    53. Stephon Anthony,LB,Clemson, 6-2 245, all over the field, sure tackler
    54. Jake Fisher, LT, Oregon, 6-5 300 great feet late riser
    55. Tevin Coleman, RB Indiana, 6-1 210 electric with the ball
    56. Javorious Allen, RB, USC 6-1 215 3 down back with power
    57. James Sample, S, Louisville, Overshadowed by Holliman, better prospect
    58. Jeremy Langford, RB, Muchigan State, 6-0 206. Smaller & fadter version of Bell
    59. Tre' Jackson OG FSU 6-4 339 he's a people mover
    60. Cody Prewitt, S, Mississippi, 6-2 220. Huge safety, this might be a bit low for him.
    61. Tyler Lockette WR Kansas State 5-11 185 upgrades Archer
    62. Clive Walford, TE Miami 6-4 259. Second best TE in class, has upside and numbers from Miami were indicitive of crappy QB play.
    63. David Cobb RB Minnesota 5-11 220 Another solid back from The Big Ten
    64. David Johnson, RB, Northern Iowa, 6-1, 220. Does everything well including returning kicks.
    65. Alex Carter, CB/S, Stanford, 6-0 190, Some boards have him higher up, I like him late second to mid third.
    66. Derron Smith, FS, Fesno State, 5-11 200. Like him much better than Holliman, he tackles
    67. Devin Smith, WR, Ohio State, 6-0 195. He extends the field plays faster than his stopwatch speed.
    68. PJ Williams, CB, Florida State, 6-0 195. Solid CB Prospect, has DUI history

    69. Ibraheim Campbell, S, Northwestern, 5-11 205. A good safety in a weak class may push him into round 2
    70. Jaquiski Tartt, S, Samford 6-1 218. A guided missle who will thump guys, his coverage skills are marginal
    71. Matt Jones, RB, Florida, 6-2, 230, 3 down back, Steelers are interested.
    72. Larenzo Mauldin, OLB, Louisville, 6-4 250. Good candidate to play on the strong side, has a frame to add even more weight.
    73. Grady Jarrett. DT Clemson, 6-1 304. Sure he is a 3 technique. He is also unblockable and can be used in sub packages as a 1 gap. The knock on him is his ceiling is reached already, and his stamina. But as a situational guy in a DL rotation, I think you need some disruptive pieces to throw at an Offense.
    74. Anthony Chickillo, DE, Miami (FL), 6-3 270. Faster and more athletic than you think, he actually played the 5 for the 'Canes.
    75. Davis Tull, OLB, Tenn-Chatt. 6-3 240. Very interesting small school player with a lot of production, tested well. Currently Injured, this will drop him slightly.
    76. Anthony Harris, S, Virginnia, 6-1 190. Good player, albeit a little light for the Steelers perhaps
    77. Ali Marpet, OG, Hobart, 6-4 305, Division III player who has a shot at the NFL
78, Steve "mighty mouse" Nelson, CB, Oregon State, 5-10 192. great cover guy but he's a mickin fridget
    79. Ifo Ekpre-Olumi, CB, Oregon, if not injured he would be hired, but he is not a Steeler typical CB either.
    80. Tyler Kroft, TE, Rutgers, 6-4, 245, Complete package , good in-line blocker
80.a Cameron Artis-Payne, RB, Auburn, 5-11 210. Does everything well, good value on Day 3.
    81. Rashad Greene, WR, Florida State. 6-0 180. One of Winston's favorite targets, I dropped him a bit due to his thin frame. He will be a Number 3 WR in the NFL.
    82. Hau'oli Kikaha OLB, Washington, 6-3 250. Saw some great tape and then he looked stiff at the Senor Bowl and Combine.
    83. Cedric Ogbuehi, OT, Texas A&M, 6-5 300. Less talented that Matthews and Joeckal, and they were over-rated by most.
    84. Lynden Trail, DE, Norfolk State, 6-6, 260. Athletic project that needs to be coached up, big upside.
    85. Kenny "my man" Bell, WR, Nebraska, 6-1 197. Saw 2 of his games, was impressed. He also tested well at the combine. Blocks the snot out of people.
    86. Gerod Holliman, S, Louisville, 6-0 202, Led the nation in picks, not sure if he can be coached up to hit like Ryan Clark

    87. Za?Darius Smith, DE/OLB, Kentucky, 6-4 270. East West standout, high motor guy
    88. Jarvis Harrison, OG, Texas A&M, 6-5 310, good footwork, rated highly on many boards, solid level of competition in the SEC.
89..Cameron Artis-Payne, RB, Auburn, 5-11 210, downhill runner from the SEC.
    90. Jeff Heuermann, TE, Ohio State, 6-5. 260. Was not healthy so it's hard to look at his 2014 numbers, tough kid. The issue is his route running and blocking is avg.
    91. Durrell Eskridge, S, Syracuse, 6-3 207, long and rangy Safety. Steelers have a history with Syracuse.
    92. D'Joun Smth, CB, Florida Atlantic, 5-11 190. Good turn and run skills, he is under the radar but a solid prospect.

    93. Justin Cox, S, Mississippi State, 6-2, 190. Long safety needs to put on weight.
    94. Daryl Williams, OT, Oklahoma, 6-5 321. Powerful Big 12 lineman, middle rounds he's value.
    95. Justin Hardy, East Carolina 6-0 190, another small school sleeper that I like
    96. Kurtis Drummond, Michigan State, 6-1 200 Both Tomlin and Colbert were at his pro day, not just for Waynes.
    97. Sean Hickey, OT/OG, Syracuse, 6-5 307. Steelers were at his pro day and worked him out.

    98. Henry Anderson, DT, Stanford, 6-5 298. Prototypical 5 technique who is well coached and productive
    99. Zach Waggenmann, OLB, Montana Grizz, 6-4 250. HIgh effort guy who has some pass rushing skills
    100. Dezmin Lewis, WR, C. Arkansas, 6-4 210, Size and speed, good clay to work with.
    101. Charles Gaines, CB, Louisville, 5-10, 180. Has a lot of traits of William Gay, also coming out of Louisville.
    102. Tre' McBride, WR, William & Mary, 6-0 210. Tomlin's alma mater. A real good mid round steal JMFO.
    103. Travis Racitti, DT, San Jose State, 6-5 290. Versitala DL player who would be a fit in Pittsburgh

    104. Jesse James, TE, Penn State. Steelers? fans have a man crush on him, I have him as a day 3 target

    105. Arie Kuandjio, OG, Alabama, 6-5, 318. The less talented brother of Cyrus, he's just a big guard not much else.

    106. John Miller, (not the Golfer), OG, Louisville. 6-2 321. I like his ability to get to the next level, you watch Louisville and you constantly see him downfield hitting people.
    107. Ladarius Gunter, CB, Miami (FL), 6-2 195. big cover guy, terrible 40 at the combine, pro day is 4/1
    108. Jacoby Glenn, CB, Central Florida, 6-0 180. lean corner from a smaller school, cannot eliminate any CB in this draft
    109. Jeff Luc, ILB/FB, Cincinatti, 6-1 251. A thumper that also worked out at FB at his pro day.
    110. John Crockett, RB, North Dakota State, 6-0 202. Very productive, better numbers than David Johnson actually, could be a day 3 pick by Colbert.
    111. Corey Crawford DE Clemson, 6-5 270, looks the part, his tape disputes it.

    112. Terry Williams, NT, East Carolina, 6-1 353. Kid is a HOUSE.
    113. Marcus Rush, OLB, Michigan State, 6-2 243. Just added to this board, may move him up, he tested very well and Tomlin and Colbert were in attendance.
    114. Blake "Belldozer" Bell, TE, Oklahoma 6-6 259. TE is new to him, and I think he is targetted like Jesse James as a day 3 option, nothing more.
    115. Nick Boyle, TE, Deleware, 6-5 260, Better blocker than most in this class
    116. Jeremiah Poutasi, OG Utah, 6-4, 310. Great mid round OL player for depth and could push to start one day. Struggles at OT, better off moving him inside.
    117. Ben Koyack, TE, Notre Dame, 6-4 260, solid prospect nothing flashy. ND has put out a lof of very good TE's.

    118. Max Vailles, LB, Virginia, 6-5 251. Athletic Monster, mediocre football player.
    119. Cam Thomas, CB, Western Kentucky, 6-1 190. His pro day was 3/18 I don't see much info on that. He has length but was torched in the bowl game,

    120. Craig Mager, CB, Texas State, 5-11 205, Gritty kid with a lot of starts. Needs coaching but will be a core Special Teamer to start off with.
    121. Titus Davis, WR, Central Michigan, 6-1, 197, Broke all of Antonio Brown?s records. Does not have the quickness however may struggle to get separation .

    122. Quashawyne Buckely, DT, Idaho, 6-1 305. Good burst off the ball, his level of competition is what will be in question.
    123. Ellis McCarthy, DT, UCLA, 6-3 330. Mountain of a man, probably a pure NT.

    124. Zach Vigil, LB, Utah, 6-2 245. When you put on tape this kid shows up, not hard to find him. Plays stiff however, needs to be dropped lower.
    . ------------------------------

I think that is NY's big board... a Steelers big board not an overall...

    enjoy,

Had to Edit... La'el Collins doesn't appear to be draftable without clearing his name. Changes were... Cincy Malcolm Brown-La'el Collins... Det Shane Ray- Malcolm Brown... Bal Trae Waynes- Shane Ray

  9. Steelroc74 Franchise Player Steelers

It sucks about La'el because he was a player that definately was going before us at 22 to push someone down in our favor. now someone slides up and who knows who that'll be.

Collins, Gregory and Ray having their 'issues' will possibly have all 3 top CBs going off the board before 22.

On the other hand, Miami was largely projected to go DB early, but now that they have lost Dion Jordan for the year they might go DE instead. One thing for sure, picks 3-18 are anybody's guess. It could go so many different directions this may be the most entertaining draft we've seen in a few years.

  17. demolisher43 Franchise Player Steelers

Peters would be quite a get at 22 now, and Rowe would be a reach regardless of how much people like him. Is there a reason why publications won't talk about what's most likely?

As per Golden, I do buy that. I don't have him getting picked at all in the first three rounds. There's speculation that his success came while teams focused on Ray, and even though Golden has one of the best motors in this class, his apparent lack of athleticism and small array of pass rush moves has teams skeptical of his ability at the NFL level.

Sorry, I'm just not a fan of Trey Flowers whatsoever. I don't see how he'd be able to fix our pass rush problems and he isn't the run stopper Diggy Zoo Wah is.

EDIT: Nice big board, but it should be updated for Shane Ray and La'el Collins.

  18. demolisher43 Franchise Player Steelers

Picking Jones with Peters on the board won't happen, and I guarantee we won't go safety at 22.
