If it makes you feel better walter football and Draft season started with Kevin Johnson too.

The perfect slot for RB is Round 5 and the back is Matt Jones, Florida. ---

Jones looks pretty good, and if he is there in the 5th should be well worth it. Too much talent available at other positions to expect a RB in rounds 1-4.

Let's stop discoutning players due to size, but not speed. Her are 3 DT's considered to be 3 techniqes that I think could be part of a DL rotation in sub packages.
    1. Grady Jarret- he is a Geno Atkins II, unblockable, disruptive, interior pressure.
    2. Michael Bennet- A highty talented Buckeye that does most everything well.
    3. Darius Philon, just watched some Arkansas hghlights, this kid has a Gabe Rivera fist step.
    ---

I don't have the same hang-ups regarding CB that I used to. Give me somebody who can collapse the pocket and scare the QB into a bad throw. If a CB falls to the Steelers, great. But don't reach and sacrifice pressure up the middle.

James Sample will be the better pro than Gerod Holliman, this was confirmed in thoughts on Path to the Draft, and I had mentioned him pre-combine. ---

The question is, if both Matt Jones and James Sample are available in round 5, which one do you take?

Kudo's to Mel Kiper for picking Kevin Johnson at 22, pre-combine. LOL before he wieghed in no less. The latest news is the ESPN draft coverage will also be available on Comedy Central. I do not think PIttsburgh takes a CB with that slight a build at 22, Marcus Peters looks more the part.
and Jalen Collins is too risky in my book.
    ---

This draft is full of guys who will be taken a round too early for my taste. I sure hope there isn't a run on CBs in round 2 because I'd like to see the Steelers take one in rounds 3 and 6.

How far will Randy Gregory fall, he will NOT get past Cincy at 21 for two reasons. Marvin Lewis is a mentor to kids like this and he really does not want Andy Dalton facing him twice a year. ---

Gregory is another one of those guys with so much potential that I'm afraid of the Steelers getting a chance to select him. He could bust just as well as he could make the Pro Bowl in a year or two. There are two ways to draft, and one is to play it safe with guys you can trust based on film and interviews. The other is to take a chance on somebody being great. I'd take Gregory before Shane Ray for sure, and when he puts on another 35 pounds of muscle he will be a very dangerous person. However, that is a pretty big risk.

I think I had the steal of round 2 in the first Collaborative, Preston Smith is one of the safest picks in round 2, not named Laken Tomlinson. If he falls to 56 I like him way ahead of Eili Harold who is just another Jarvis Jones, restricted to the right side OLB. and really isn't Randy Gregory the same type of build. Steelers need a big body LB who you can line up anywhere. Here are some of those types of guys.
    Bud Dupree
    Preston Smith
    Trey Flowers
    ---

I like Preston Smith in round 2. Better than Shane Ray.

Round 3 I am really liking Markus Golden, heck I took him twice! But round 4 taking David Cobb twice might not be in the cards. Let's think of round 5 and up for RB as I mentioned. ---

Agree. I like Golden better than Ray too.

Rounds 4,5,6 I think I would wait on TE, this class sucks. Any other year Jesse James and Jeff Heurman are day 3 picks. ---

I think the Steelers draft a TE in the 6th or 7th just to make sure they get one. There are two others who may come UDFA so there will be competition in camp.

    Good stuff ny.

If that was a man treating the lady that way he would have been fired on the spot, and rightfully so. No way I want somebody like that on camera representing my company.

When you're Company employs a Junior College dork who played tennis to be the face of your draft coverage, your bar is already set low enough to step on. Name 3 people on ESPN you actually respect. I got Cris Carter, Mark Schlerith, Bill Polian.

Welcome to all feed backa nd some thoughts on whats being discussed-
From the recent collab mock draft:
Round 1: S: Landon Collins, Alabama
Round 2: Phillip Dorsett WR Miami (FLA)
Round 3: RB: David Johnson, Northern Iowa (beast)
Round 4: DT: Rakeem Nunez-Roches, Southern Miss. ( sleeper imo)
Round 4: TE: Ben Koyack, Notre Dame- Reliable, plug and play, good hands, blocking might need work. consistent
Round 5:CB: Lorenzo Doss, Toledo - I like his ball skills
Round 5: CB: Jacoby Glenn, Central Florida- High up side
Round 6: TE: Wes Saxton, South Alabama- Steal.

Anywho, on the topic of RB, I really like one in the third round, particular the guy i got - Johnson or Tevin, both of who i think could be great for differing reason- yards aftr contact and then insane agility and dual threat capabilities on the other hand.

Gregory dropping to PIT or seems difficult, for some reason i think you guys have a better shot at Bud, NO FUCKING IDEA why he keeps sliding in every mock i see or take part in, but i think if he gets to around 17ish, both BAL and PIT, and who knows else, considers moving up. I think i agree with NY, Greg doesnt get passed CIN, but who knows- whackier shit has happened.

I really like Max Wexton in the the third day, 5th/6th round.

RE CB's- in agreement, Collins is a risk and recvent news might make him slide to the end of the first or early 2nd, the smallest things make a big difference. Waynes>Peters> everyone else, and that might be inverted if we remove red flag issues and consider pure upside and talent. I have no issue with kevin Johnson but i jut think he is a cut below the others and there WILL be better talent at other positions.

DGB might sneak in to the first- thats my somewhat bold prediction, i think someone just takes a flier on him towards the end, or trades back and targets him.

A few musings. should be a fun one.

I'm in the minority, but Dupree never impressed me as a top pick. He's definitely an elite athlete, but I just don't see that dominance on tape. For me he's a 2nd round football player. Gregory has more upside IMO, and he has yet to fill out his frame. Red flags aside, he might be one of the 5 best players to come out of this draft by the end of his rookie contract.

So you are afraid of drafting the next Mike Mamula or Vernon Gholston????

Those two actually never crossed my mind. Rarely does a guy who "comes out of nowhere" at the combine actually live up to the hype that they create.

Not so much afraid, but I am conservative and look for the safe pick, especially in the first two rounds. NFL execs don't necessarily have the luxury of playing it safe, because it is a "what have you won lately" league...

I'll gladly take a 10-year starter in round 1, and if he happens to become an All-Pro that's a bonus. In no way do I expect a first round pick to start from day 1 like many others do. Not everybody can step in like Maurkice Pouncey or Casey Hampton in their first season. More often you'll have Troy Polamalu, Ike Taylor, and Lawrence Timmons and I have no problem with their rates of development.

My big board is getting there. I dropped a few guys way down, Landon Collins for one. Limited range and there are 1-2 safeties I like better.

    Collaborative draft so far:

    22. Kevin Johnson. CB Wake Forest, (Peters, waynes,
All rhe top edge rushers were gone.)

I like the pick...a lot! He was my pick for the Panthers if he dropped to 25. Round 1 is going a lot differently in the official MD then it did in the 2nd one.

anyone watch path to the draft???? amazing how the next week DJ and CC come up with this exact same thought. LOL I want my commission NOW.

I hope the Steelers lay off Randy Gregory, he is way too light to play OLB in the 3-4, supposedly according to reports he's under 230.

This guy can't keep the weight on for some reason.

CBSSports is redoing their mock. They have some trades going on in the 1st round and therefore, some players dropping. They are predicting Marcus Peters going to Miami and Trae Waynes falling to the Steelers as of yesterday......A guy named Peters and somebody else I never heard of are doing the mocks on CBS......
