Unless Buddah faces East, a Leprechaun appears inside uour bowl if Lucky F'n charms, OLB will not be BPA unless they reach. Randy Gregory, nah, too risky IMHFO . If thry local media is right & they pass on Peters, i hope Kevin Johnson is available..
Any guesses to what Byron Jines tuns tomoroww? If he runs Put me down for 4.42 *THUMBSUP*

Wasn't Timmons an OLB and moved inside? If my memory serves me correctly, he was drafted to play OLB and the Steelers needed more help inside at the time and moved him inside. Am I wrong?

    Wazoo,

Timmons was listed as an OLB on the draft sites.. was he drafted to play there? or did the Steeler brass have other plans for him?.. My guess is that Butler and company knew where they wanted to play him when they drafted him... but yeah - all the draft sheets/blogs/sites had Timmons listed as an OLB

NY - usually remembers stuff like this... maybe he'll chime in or someone else that has a better memory than I do..

    enjoy,

    bb

Yes he was listed as a OLB, but everyone here knew the Steelers were going to use him in the middle

Timmons was an OLB in college but was drafted to be Footes
replacement and that's where he started.
He played OLB for a very short period when Harrison got hurt but that was it.

Timmons was an OLB. Ironcially Carnell Lake was a LB at UCLA, now a coach. The bonus is that when Woodie went down, Lake was able to play CB and even made the pro Bowl a few times.

Rumors are that if Shark cannot be the SS, then they will slide Mitchell to that spot, and draft or sign a long FS. Eric Rowe, Durrel Eskridge, and Cody Prewitt are those types of guys in the draft. And I guess you can throw Holliman in there, but he was a Center Fielder who plays like Rahim Moore from a few years back. Going back to the 70's, best Center Fielder was Paul Krause for the Vikings, he wore #22, and no I did not Google that.... *SHADES*

Since I started making a league-wide mock draft, it's become really hard to put together a Steelers-specific one. I'm second-guessing myself and questioning my own parameters. Frankly I can barely do it without practically putting together a wish list, which sacrifices objectivity and credibility.

Would I love nothing more than to see the Steelers go defensive backfield + pass rusher with picks one and two? Absolutely, but both of their TEs are over 30 and McLendon has a chronic shoulder problem. Everyone is going crazy over RB because this is a deep class and we saw how badly our offense needs Bell without depth, but the WR class is just as deep and Brown is almost as important to the team as Bell. What if Brown goes down? Let's not kid ourselves, the offense would take a hit with just two viable receivers who find success now in part because Brown occupies the #1 defensive back for the other team. We can't slobber over Jay Ajayi (whose weaknesses are ball security and blitz pickup, two key things we want whatever rookie we may draft this year to do well) and totally ignore someone like Nelson Agholor, whom Lance Zierlein calls a "dangerous punt returner" who "will improvise to get open for scrambling quarterback." Not even counting Agholor's other quality traits, that sounds like someone tailor-made to work with Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown. Yet, he's not even given a modicum of spotlight because he's a WR and a second-round prospect.

At least WR, with only four guys signed to the active roster from 2014, has a hole to fill, as does OL. From a strict numbers standpoint, RB has no hole. We have four tailbacks signed to the active roster who played in 2014, and drafting someone else would give us five before cutting someone. No gameday roster has that many running backs. The Steelers seem excited to have DeAngelo Williams, and Williams seems excited to be in Pittsburgh. Josh Harris hasn't shown anything, but at least he has NFL game experience. The Steelers are still counting on Dri Archer to do something on game day too. Who's to say whatever rookie we draft won't fizzle out completely and be a wasted pick? It's easy to look at what we have, look at the talent at RB this year, and say, "Yes, I would trust any rookie, give me," but that doesn't follow very sound logic. RB is obvious; the Steelers saw it too and signed Williams as insurance. The draft is about securing the future, however, and what would happen if we lost Brown or any of our interior offensive linemen at a crucial time, with the roster we currently have? We're screwed then too. People aren't thinking about what could happen - only reacting to what did happen.

Any position except QB, C, and ILB is up for the taking with all of our picks. As long as they're all good players who can contribute well, it shouldn't even matter.

Holliman is interesting. On day 3 I wonder how hard he'd be to pass up.

You can probably take Chad Brown off this list too because he played ILB his first few years in the league, so he was not drafted for the outside spot.

Pete Prisco has the Steelers picking Ronald Darby now, a corner who is moving up fast, is a junior and ran track. Put in a 33.7 at the combine, 5'11", 192 lbs out of Fla. State. Along with P.J. Williams who is also a junior and will leave early for the draft as a junior. Darby is coming up the boards fast as scouts keep talking about him. After the Steelers pick, the team behind them is predicted to take Jalen Collins, another corner......Haven't heard much about Darby until today. What does thou think?

Wow, that's a reach. Taking the 8th ranked CB in the first round? No way I could see that happening, especially with Collins still on the board - who Tomlin ate dinner with just last week.

  13. rarebreedsj Franchise Player Steelers

Tomlin had dinner with Kirk Cousins a few yours ago too
but. your right about the CB's.

I'm hoping for a CB or Dupree. Dupree kinda reminds me
of Jamie Collins in New England.

What I think: I forgot more about the draft than Prisco knows about it. He's a Hack

Man I love this site, but I wish they served Midol and Cranberry Juice to some of the posters in here... Love the info you guys give on the college guys coming out. This thread makes me look like a draft guru with my friends. I thank you all.

    Good catch.

I think everyone's right on this one. Immediately after he was drafted:

Then Timmons injured his groin in his first spring practice, Woodley and Harrison (both previously unknown) were tearing it up and they also had Haggans. It made the transition to the inside a pretty easy decision, where according to Keith Butler they planned to use him on passing downs anyway:

They wanted him outside and they wanted him inside. No wrong answer on this one.

Depot is a little late with that nugget, i pointed out all the Juniors and big conference ties years ago.

Hey mockers. Eagles meed a CB, Chip Kelly was at Byron Jones' pro day in person. Jones ran a low 4.4 and confirmed what I already knew. Is he BPA at 22 if Dupree, Waynes, Johnson, & Collins ste gone?

  20. rarebreedsj Franchise Player Steelers

the Eagles need a wide receiver With Macklin gone they really don't have a number 1 receiver anymore.
