Kam Chancellor is terrible in pass coverage. And when I say terrible, I mean 34 year old Troy Polamalu is a better cover guy. But he's still a great player because he's smart and he's not asked to cover very often. Seattle plays zone probably 90% of the time. And all the other things Kam does (like Landon) are so special he's a force to be reckoned with and a guy that most teams in the league would draft in the 1st round if given another opportunity. NyBites got him in the 5th in IrishDawg's mock. Just sayin'.

p.s. Landon Collins has range. He can run sideline to sideline.

You could be right, but his stock does look to be slipping right now along with Shane Ray's.

My personal value on him is worse than the one I have Collins projected at. I think he is more of an undersized LB trying to play safety. His coverage is suspect, he takes bad angles when the ball is in the air and he does not have the same burst he had in 2013.

On my own warboard he is not in the top 32.

Where do you think he should be valued (pick range), who do you think he resembles in the NFL and what kind of ceiling do you think he has?

Best safety since the class of thomas (earl) of the top of my head. Ceiling? pretty high, whether he reaches it or not is anyones guess, but at current projection and skill, educated guess? top 15 talent, maybe top 20. i really like him and i cant beleive he is sliding in projections so im with beach, too much smoke. if he makes it anywhere near 20 or goes to PIT ill be pretty mad

Oh best case scenario? again of the top of my head...a poor mans charles woodson, i thnk he has better ball skills than you seem to convey, and his ability to diagnose plays is pretty epic, leader in the back and disciplined, ok hands, sure tackler, i like him

You do not pass on Landon Collins, period. You always take the best player at his position in the draft, regardless of need. So if 6 pass rushers, 3 corners are already gone, Collins is no-brainer. Does he upgrade Sharako Thomas, absolutely.

Any thoughts on my long corner transition on Tony Lipette? He did work out at CB, he did run past, and Colbert and Tomlin were in East Lansing.

If you believe Landon Collins is BPA at 22 then I cannot argue with your logic.

I do not, but my warboard rarely lines up with anyone else so I am comfortable standing alone on this one.

Do you take Landon Collins over Bud Dupree ?
    IMO , NO!!
Collins is or will be a good DB in the NFL but
for Pittsburgh Dupree will make the the entire defense better.

  8. nybites M.V.P. Steelers UCONN

I agree with Dupree, guess what, HE WON'T BE THERE. In fact Eli Harold could be gone too. That is reality. The last few drafts, Offensive Linemen have just bee picked thin like Velvet paintings at a Elvis Swap Meet. This year it will be edge rushers.

I'm really not a draft anyalyst, however I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night.

We thought Decastro and Mendenhall ect...
Would be long gone as well but I would have no objection to Collins
. He's the best at his position in this class and is a team need.

That is good outside-the-box thinking, but the Steelers place so much emphasis on production I'm not sure they would make that selection. Then again, they have picked guys like Buster Davis and Dri Archer just to see if it works out, and they didn't wait for the 5th round to do it.

I came up with this draft for the Steelers that I think sounds logical and to me is pretty satisfying. I'll start working on a league-wide draft after comp picks get released.

    1. Owamaghbe Odighizuwa, OLB, UCLA
    2. Byron Jones, CB, Connecticut
    3. Tyler Lockett, WR, Kansas State
    4. Davis Tull, OLB, Chattanooga
    5. Nick O'Leary, TE, Florida State
6A. Robert Myers, OG, Tennessee State
6B. Kaleb Eulls, DE, Mississippi State
    7. Andrew Donnal, OT, Iowa

    UDFA. Ranell Hall, WR, UCF
    UDFA. Joey Mbu, NT, Houston

To Lippet's credit (or lack of, depending on your persepctive), I don't like him as a WR prospect in the NFL. I see him never getting separation from NFL DBs because he's neither athletic enough to pull away on go routes nor does he run the routes he runs sharp enough to make it happen. Can he be coached? Yes, but I guess I'm spoiled in the sense that I'm used to seeing a Steelers WR come in and tear up the NFL immediately, and I don't see Lippet as being capable of following in those footsteps.

I'm with you ny in the sense that I hope they were in East Lansing to scout Langford, and possibly Trae Waynes.

  14. Don't want to nit pick but since I know you guys like to be accurate, Markus Golden spells his name with a k.

Also, not to beat this Missouri horse to death, but a good depth pick in the 6th or 7th round is Braylon Webb. He's got pretty good size for a safety (6-1, 205). He's not the most athletic but he's smart and fast, seldom is he out of position. He's nothing special but is a stable, steady, player and I could see him playing very well in kick coverage.

2 WR 2 OL but no RB

  16. steelersking M.V.P. Steelers

I could understand if they don't draft a RB, but I think they will. It is a deep class, and Williams is a very short term backup and who really knows what Harris has? Archer will never be a traditional RB so it would make a lot of sense to draft another RB. Harris can be on the PS, Williams hasn't been great with durability so the team could use another back.

Looks like the Steelers got a 7th round comp pick...pretty sure the consensus around here was that they'd get at least a 6th round comp pick.

    22
    56
    87
    121
    160
    198
    239
    252

Those are the Steelers' draft picks. Let's get to work, fellas. *SHADES* *DANCE*

  19. Am I the only one who thinks teams getting comp picks is a little retarded. Every team has the same chance of signing free agents including the current team. Why should they be compensated with a pick? You don't lose a comp pick for signing someone who was cut, whats the difference.

  20. burghball Guest

With the 252 pick in the 2015 NFL draft... the Pittsburgh Steelers select:

    Kyle Loomis P, Portland St.

Army 82nd Airborne... good enough for me and besides that - he can punt

    enjoy,

    bb
