Glad to see you around beach. But come on man. Don't you remember 2008 and Bruce Davis? Nobody liked that pick ! My double- U tee Eff picks are Landry F. Jones, Dri Archer, & trading up for Shamarko Thomas.

Trading a draft pick to a team in the division will do that. I remember a pick similar to that. First two years he was on special teams. He started in the 3rd preseason game this past year. When Tulloch went down to Aaron Rodgers' voodoo dance, he, Tahir Whitehead stepped in and performed well.

Thomas could be that player for the Steelers. This would be 3rd year for Thomas??

Yes this is Sharmako's 3rd season, as is Jarvis Jones. As Steeler fans were are optimistically hoping their time is come. I have a lot of faith in Tuitt, he showed something last year. Shazier got hurt and it was almost like a red-shirt year.

    Quew, Anyone,

What is your thought on a couple of guys. Perryman out of Miami (FL), and Shaq Thompson out of Washington? You watch tape and they are all over the place. But you go to the combine and they test less than you expect. Steelers have a kid, Sean Spence, who fits that under 6 foot 230-ish guy who just makes plays. Size isn't everything but at some point you need some weight and strength to go with the speed at the next level. HUGE pro day coming up for Paul Dawson, he ran a 4.9 in Indy, that might even take him off some boards. Jarvis Jones ran a 4.8 and along with his medical/spine is why he fell to 17 and The Steelers. Kendricks is another smallish LB, but I think he bloodline sort of checks some boxes off and gives you some degree of non-bust.

Off Topic: This was on Facebook.

Really? I am at Harbor Freight today, and as I walk out some +/-20 year old kid is a Zombie. He has the snow shovel in one hand, and an extra large Dunkin' Donuts Coffee in the other hand. He's Pushing snow sort of half- assed off the sidewalk. Youth of today.... I got a solution. Let's shove the shovel up his ass, so he can walk and shovel and the same time. Plus It will free up his other hand for his smart phone.

Add a little levity for today. I do not blame anyone for losing interest in the draft, this thread. This is the Showpiece for Live4Sports IMHO. It will be 2 years old on Tuesday, with over 800,000 views. Pretty good stuff guys.

The most impressive workout of the day was turned in by defensive back Adrian Amos, another Senior Bowl participant. The six-foot, 215-pounder was clocked as fast as 4.38 seconds in the 40-yard dash and stood out in the bench press, as well, lifting the bar 21 times, which would have tied him for fourth among all defensive backs testing in Indianapolis.
    --------------------

Little write up on a kid I told you about from watching him in the senior bowl or East/West game...

Also - Donovan Smith OT PSU - continues to climb...

    enjoy,

What type of linebacker are you looking for? If you are looking for what Spence was supposed to be, Kendricks is that.

Perryman tested about what was expected. Have to see if he is more than Brandon Spikes (2 down LB). The way I look at it is: there is a a certain amount of athleticism you need to be on a football field after that its gravy/ some advantage. Dawson was hyped as a 2nd rounder-ish, I don't think he goes there now.. everyone in the NFL has some sort of specialty, if a team puts him in place where he can use his instincts, he'll do ok. (I'm not sure he starts though).

Most of us were consistent with NOT liking Brandon Spikes. Too slow and stiff, fit perfectly with Hoodie's scheme until he got his head out of his arse and drafted players like Jamie Collins. Who I think would have really helped the Steelers, but not as much as LeVeon Bell did, Steelers made the right pick at 48. You know what they say, if you like him in the third, take him in the second.

I am a numbers guy, but I don't think the combine and pro day are everything. As it turns out, tape doesn.t tell you everything either. When it comes to WR, I like to look at the 3 cone drill, it tells me who can shake and bake. Long speed is good, vertical is good, but that 3 cone drill is a good guage for who can get seperatoin. Obviously the vertical is who can outjump who, and the 40, wel who can pull away.

Here are my top two sleeper WR. I have had Kenny Bell pegged since the fall, just saw it, confirmed at the combine. You look at his numbers across the board, not to mention the 3rd fastest in the 3 cone for receivers, over 6 foot, close to 200 lbs, ran 4.4. The other guy is from East Carolina, Justin Hardy. Fastest 3 cone, descent size, catches everything. Colbert and Comapany are great at finding day 3 starting WR. (Mike Wallace, Emmanuel Sanders, Antonio Brown, Marcus Wheaton, Martavis Bryant) According to Haley, Bryant could be passing Wheaton on the depth chart if he puts the work in, he is that talented. One other guy, Tre' McBride, Thick guy who can be your depth on a team, may develop into a number 3. I know the Steelers wanted to keep Justin Brown, but they had to make a roster move due to the Bell Injury I believe.

With that being said, I realy hope they looke at WR or RB in round 3, not sure if you can pass on some of the talent that will be there. Just because the 10th rated CB is there on the beginning of day 3, why not take the 5th rated RB on your board?

Round one and two, sure go Defense. But as Ed Bouchette, who apparently knows more than any of us, they will go Defense in the frirst 3 picks. I hope not, only because if you keep drafting for need, you let a good player go past you. I don't mind them going TE but later on, not until round 5 or 6. Bouchette also thinks they will get little comp picks, I totally disagree and think they get a solid pick for losing Emmanuel Sanders. This is the pick where you can say, who truly is BPA.

Playing armchair GM, if these players were available, this is how I would draft.
    1. Marcus Peters
    2. Marcus Golden
    3. Jeremy Langford
    4. Davis Tull
    4C.Justin Hardy
    5. Tony Lipette
    6. Terry Poole
    7. Blake Bell

  11. nybites M.V.P. Steelers UCONN

Two WR bites, and one CB? Ah yes, Remember Richard Sherman was a 6-3 WR coming out of Stanford, that Pete Carroll took in round 5? I give you Tony Lipette, a 6-3 WR who was originallyy a CB, but they needed WR and had Trae Waynes and Darquez Dennard on the team.

    *SHADES*

From what I'm seeing Sanders isn't showing up, but if he does it will be a 5th round pick at best. Might get a 6th round pick also for losing Hood.

Hoodie's M.O. is to manipulate comp picks. He will be getting a 3rd this year and next. (Talib, Revis)

Unfortunately Sanders is cancelled out by the Mike Mitchell signing. Overthecap only has us projected to get a 6th for Ziggy Hood. I don't know why we wouldn't get a 7th for Ryan Clark...

Emmanuel 5M per cancelled out by Mitchell 5M per
Cotchery 1.6M per cancelled out by Blount 1.9M per
Woods 2M per cancelled out by Cam Thomas 2M per
Ziggy Hood - 6th round pick
Ryan Clark - 7th round pick?

There's some talk now that Collins may fall out of the first all together.

If it makes you feel any better, Mel Kiper has the Steelers drafting him in his second mock. *BYE*

    :)

Landon Collins is muscular and big. I saw him on the tele the other morning. He's supposed to be a big hitter that can tackle also. The main gripe against him is his pass coverage. One article I read said he's always, like, going downhill against the run but will occasionally get beat in pass coverage. The guy that wrote the article said he didn't think his pass coverage was so bad as to not be drafted in the 1st round though. Of course, things can change on draft day, right!

  18. igloofn68 Guest

With Worilds gone, don't the Steelers need a linebacker also? I think they need to look for one in the 2nd or 3rd round, if not the 1st round. CB is also a BIG need.......

Thing is you can mask deficiencies at DB if you have a pass rush and pressure the QB. A good set of DBs can be ripped to shreds if you have no pass rush.

I'll be very surprised if Collins is even available at 22. The kid can do it all. Too much smoke this time of year.
