Come on breed...they have a 90 man roster to fill and they currently have 65 guys under contract, including Boyd. You are going to see alot of other "nobodies" and "has been's" and "never will be's" signed over the next couple of months leading up to minicamp.

Sometimes those camp bodies can do some good. George Johnson was supposed to be a camp body, he stuck to the Lions 53 and was recently tendered.

At least pick up someone that can push for 3rd string.

How much worse than Landry Jones can he be? Lol.

Don't even get me started on this 4th round disasters. The OHLY worse pick than Jones was Danny F'n Farmer. *ROSE*

Kevin Colbert personally met with Taj Boyd, Dabo Swinney sut up the meeting. Just because the Jets cut him, doesn't mean much. Their talent evaluation skills sort of resemble Ray Charles Driving a bus.

Two more names in the hat I am adding onto my big board, pretty sure PIttsburgh is looking at them. Where and when, not sure.

At some point Willilam & Mary alumni are going to convince Tomlin to look at their talent. In the 2015 class you don't have to look very far to find WR Tre' McBride. I have some very positive notes on him from the Shrine Game. I like his game and with Lance Moore (or less) out the door, a window of opportunity opens for a guy to come in and make this team behind Brown, Bryant, and Wheaton. There is actually 2 spots open on the 53, even if they resign DHB, who is a ST standout IMFO.

The second dude is another WR from East Carolina, he is just one of those kids that is a Football Player, Justin Hardy. Both of these WR along with Kenny Bell are mid round finds that Colbert loves to discover. All 3 of them are similar sized at 6-0 or 6-1 and 195-205 lbs. I think they pull the trigger on one of these guys, especially if they get that 4th round comp pick like I think they will for Emmanuel Sanders signing with Denver.

I know Stephone Anthony is climbing boards, but to GB at 30 seems a little high for my liking. In fact if Ted Thompson does in fact go ILB, I think they take the thumper from Miss. State, McKinney. In Charles Davis's mock on nfl.com, he has McKinney going two spots earller to Denver. Also at 27, Dallas taking Denzel Perryman. Does anyone buy into 3 ILB at the end of round 1?

I've thought the same thing for awhile. McBride could end up being one of the big steals of the draft if he goes in the middle rounds.

I like the Tajh Boyd signing. Landry Jones has shown zero since being drafted. As long as the Steelers have Gradkowski around odds are the 3rd QB isn't going to see the field unless it a gadget play...Tajh Boyd might give the Steelers some gadget play options.

According to rotoworld, Landry Jones is one of best clip board carrying Gatorade Dispensers in the NFL.

I like the Moats signing, it gives Colbert a known commodity at OLB, ILB, ST. Can he be upgraded, sure. But there is more to the story than that. Sorry Gil Brandt, you lost it when you said the Steelers needed DL help. If that were the case then they would have not been toying with dropping Cam THomas and have cut Brett Kiesel.

As I have said, and they said it last night on path to the draft, NEVER go into the draft with a gaping hole and NEED. Behind the draft is not just what you are hoping for, but what other teams are doing. I expect the Steelers to add a CB to the roster, not a Revis, but someone so that teams drafting behind them are not jumping up and grabbing the CB they think they want.
Or even worse, a run on CB's in the teens and at 22 the board is decimated.

Hindsight is 20-20 but they should have worked something out with Keenan Lewis. I am confident that he wanted to go home to New Orleans, but the right offer might have kept him in Pittsburgh and solidifed one side of the secondary. Give Colbert credit, they paid Allen after the gaff, but it just has not worked out. And also credit them for letting Mike Wallace go, now the Dolphins have egg on their face and a guy who quit on his team.
Speaking of cancer, Buck FLount. Sure he got a ring, but his role was backup, walking off the field and being with Bell on Pot-Gate, punched his ticket out of town.

Here is the thing on RB, I am sold on David Johnson. he is perfect to spell Bell and is a similar back with great upside. You start checking all the boxes; Size, Speed, SPecial Teams, blocking, ability to catch the ball and run the route tree. What do they say, if you like him in the third, you take him in the second. Some team is going to do that, But I don't think it's Pittsburgh. I wonder if they sign Ben Tate, at least he has been in Pittsburgh cand has 6 months to be more prepared this time around, or someone like him. I think CJ SPiller is a third down back, and wants too much money.

We all took pot shots at Jerry Jones, but he is the one lauging at us now. No, not Romo the H---. it's Travis Frederick. He got the best Center in the draft and solidified his OL. Just because 95% of the drafting community gave him a 3rd round grade, means jack Schitt. I had Leveon Bell as a third rounder, Steelers saw it differently, they got their guy.

So when 22 comes up in 51 days, don't expect the obvious ,and don't knock the pick. I am trying to come up with a short list of who I think they will target, and it might even be Maxx Williams. Don't forget the prefer underclassmen in general from big conferneces. I actually hope it is Alvin Dupree and they wait on CB until the second round, but there is a chance he is gone.

Brian Baldinger did a top 10 mock last night, he went out of the box and in the end his logic was pretty solid. Being a former NFL Guard, you would think he would give out 3 linement top 10 picks, but he didn't. He actually had one guy, Scherff going to the Giants. But.... Gregory, Beasley, Ray, and Fowler all going and the Jets passing on Mariotta, and he fell to the Rams, the Raiders passing on White with a real need at WR, but Leonard Williams was still available. So if this happens, then there will be a run on OL and or WR in the teens and I doubt Dupredd makes it to 22 because the edge rusher pool just evaporated.

Tyler Lockett, WR, Kansas State is a guy we really need to watch. He was productive in college as both a returner and a receiver.

    Kent State
The Kent State workout is over, and tight end Casey Pierce, a Combine snub, performed exceedingly well.

Pierce, who measured 6-3 1/2, 244 pounds at the Senior Bowl, ran 40 times between 4.69 to 4.74 on a fast turf. His other marks included 36.5 inches in the vertical jump, 9-10 in the broad jump, 19 reps on the bench and a short shuttle time of 4.22. He zipped through the 3-cone in hand times which ranged between 6.83 to 6.87. Only one tight end at the Combine was comparable: Blake Bell who ran a time of 6.85s.

Pierce looked good catching the ball for the 17 teams on hand, including Baltimore Ravens tight end coach Rich Angulo. The Philadelphia Eagles are scheduled to work out out Pierce in the coming days.

Didn't forget Lockett, i was leaning towsrds rounds 4-5 w/ the wideouts. Depot is a good site but.... i fail to see Beasley available @ 22 or David Johnson there in the mid 4th. Some scout will bang the table for this player. Their mock I think may be wishful, JMFO

Word is Keenan Lewis want gyaranteed $ or out of New Orleans
According to Steeler Depot. Revis singed with Jets, now Hoodie will be in the market for a CB. I hope Seattle grabs the player he wants right before the clock is up. :-* we also have yhe Bungles picking right before Pittsburgh, glad they play a 4-3.

Here is a mock I believe in, it 's not the cookie cutter mock you 're used to:

Even though that mock still has the Seahawks picking 31st, I like it too. It's both ballsy and plausible, down to that Husky corner going to us at 22.

I think you left out TE in your Seattle statement at 31. With the Signing of Graham, no need to draft Maxx Williams.

I think the need for a top tier WR and a top tier OT along with LB or Edge rushers are going to take precidence over the CB's. I don't see the run on them until middle second. Buyer beware regardless because it is so hard to predict good corners from College to the NFL.

if you look at the 2014 class, the guys who made an impact on their teams were Offensive Linemen, Wide Recievers, and Linebackers. (Kahlil Mack, Zac Matin, CJ Mosley, Kelvin Benjamin, Odell Beckham Jr., Mike Evans, Anthony Barr, Sammy Watkins, etc.. )The guys not living up to their first round grade were predominantly corners. (Gilbert, Dennard, Fuller, Roby).

    A couple pro day notes.

Mile College cornerback Travis Lee, who met with the Pittsburgh Steelers yesterday, is at Alabama's pro day and will be meeting with a contingent from the New Orleans Saints.

Landon Collins stood on most of his combine marks but participated in position drills. He was solid but not outstanding and definitely did not look like the top-12 pick some have tabbed him as.

Receiver DeVante Parker will be in attendance to participate in position drills and root on his teammates. Parker, who's been a very busy man, will stand on his combine numbers. The big receiver has already worked out for the Pittsburgh Steelers and has official visits scheduled with the Miami Dolphins, Tennessee Titans and Baltimore Ravens.

Thanks for the info! I wouldn't mind if Collins slips to #22....we know the Steelers don't put too much stock in these workouts.
