    It was 2007 for Brady.

    Okay.

I just thought I would share a fan's viewpoint on bites' Manziel comment. You guys want to continue on and on and on and on about how shitty our front office is . . . knock yourselves out.

It must be nice to have a front office that NEVER screws up a draft and hasn't had to try and find that elusive franchise QB.

No we had the 80's Lyman: David Woodley, Mark Malone, Kent Graham, finally got close with Neil F. O'Donnell in the 90'sbut then he throws the Super Bowl away. Then more guessing and retreads: Kordell, Tommy Maddox, and at one point Mike Tomczak was our best option.

I am not knocking Cleveland for Couch, Kozar, heck not even Mike Phipps.... but I have been on forums yelling over and over Quinn sucked and Manziel was a d0uche. Your FO just proved my instincts right, that is all.

I do not hate the Browns. I hate (in order). New England, Mel Kiper Jr., Ravens, Cowboys. Actually I am indifferent on Cleveland to be quite honest.

You're right but still comedic genius. For the record I hated Clausen big time and that spiked haired Clown from USC too, Matt Barkley. My latest "he is going to suck QB" was AJ McCarron, who was more benificial from Nick Saban running a semi-pro team and surround him with First Round NFL caliber Offensive Linemen at the NCAA level.

And yes, I am still FUMING over the Landry Jones pick. The guy screams SUCK but not "Jimmy Clausen suck" .

I have a really cool idea for this years Draft Contest. And BTW, let's all be clear on the rules and point scoring BEFORE the draft.

My thought is that most of us are advanced, I mean we know withing 1-2 players the top 10 picks, everyone does, big whoop de doo. How about this list, 60 small school sleepers. You get to pick any 10 off this list, but you aggregate total has to be at least 260 points, so the 60th ranked player is 60 points down to Jaquiski Tart who is ranked number 1 (1 point). This keeps people from picking the top ten, that's cheating. AGAIN, you the worst you can score is ZERO, no negative numbers,

From my perspective it isn't about the draft. 75% of the draft is luck, 25% is how much risk a team is willing to take on a questionable player. The problem with Cleveland has been their lack of patience. 8 head coaches in 15 years? It is virtually impossible to build a winning team when you have so much turnover.

Cleveland, Washington, Dallas, Miami, Oakland, Buffalo.... and there are others. One commonality is the owners' lack of patience. Good teams take years to build because personalities, schemes, and talent all have to merge. Continuity is hugely important to avoid a team becoming a patchwork of players and coaches rather than a unified team of people. The best thing about the Steelers is the ownership. It all flows down from them.

The Jets are going trade the 6th pick to the Eagles so the Chipster can pick Mariota. In return, the Jets will receive a player and picks. They will now be known as the Philadelphia Ducks rumor has it.......There will be 10 or more Ducks on Kelly's roster.....Not a good way to build a team considering the Eagles just traded Shady to the Bills for a Duck LB.......

Cleveland can trade with Oakland or Washington to jump the Jets. I think Jacksonville will
Listen to trades and then go Fowler. The Raiders trade with the Browns and pick up 12, 19. Filling 2 holes: WR / OT they pass on White but end up with Parker or Strong. Plus they add an OT like Andrus Peat, giving Carr a target & some protection.

Yeah, it was really insensitive of Al Lerner to up and die like that leaving the franchise to a son who didn't want to be in the football business to begin with. I have to give Randy credit though. He honored his father's wish and [del]neglected[/del] managed the franchise for the whole ten years.

The Browns have actually done a very good job outside of QB over the past few years. I couldn't believe they took Johnny Manziel over Bridgewater with the 22nd pick last year. I'm actually glad they passed on him.

I will not be surprised if it's the Browns and not the Eagles that trade up to get Mariota in the draft.

I would be VERY surprised to see this happen. And disappointed. Mariota is the anti-Manziel off the field. But both of them came into the NFL (or will be soon) having never operated out of a pro-style offense. It's been reported (don't know how factual) that Mariota has never taken a snap under center in a game during his college career. As such, he has never had to take a 3, 5 or 7 step drop, with his back to the defense, turn and find an open receiver.

Would you give up two precious 1st round picks for a player that has never had to do that? I'm not saying he can't, but (IMO) the Browns have way too many holes to fill elsewhere just to catch up to the rest of the division roster wise.

Mariota is everything physically and mental that Manziel is not. Mariota already has a degree with one year of college eligibility left. He's got the frame and brain to play NFL football. I don't care if he's never taken a snap under center. He doesn't turn the ball over and he's a leader. He's got enough arm. He's got the smarts of Wilson and the physical ability of Kapernick. He'll learn how to take a snap under center. He's coach able and committed.

The Browns are a QB away from being a contender. The Browns GM is rumored to be extremely interested in Mariota. The future Browns QB coach is tutoring Mariota. I personally hope you are right that the Browns down't take Mariota. I don't want him in the division.

There was a reason why Manziel didn't stay with Oregon. His name was M-A-R-I-O-T-A. Deja Vu?

    Steelers just signed a QB,
    Tajh Boyd.
What a joke this management is turning into.

  15. steelersking M.V.P. Steelers

Maybe that spells the end of Landry Jones. I fail to see how bringing in a forth arm for training camp makes management a joke though...

  16. rarebreedsj Franchise Player Steelers

The Steelers are in need of OLB, SAFETY, CB, RB and the first thing they do is bring in an arm for training camp ? :/

FA hasn't officially started so they can only sign street free agents ir their own, so Brandon Graham Buster Skrine and Mccourty are off limits for another 3 days. Who exactly would you like them to sign right now? They'll probably go after Worilds and maybe Graham, but they'll probably go into draft day with Thomas and Mitchell as the safeties. Polumalu will be cut or retire, Allen is going to be 33 and will probably be there after the draft if the Steelers don't address the position. I expect the Steelers to resign both McCain and Blake.

Don't expect them to sign a veteran RB till the second wave of free agency at least. It appears that C.J. Spiller will have some suitors so that will raise his price, doubt Reggie Bush will sign for the minimum...Stephen Jackson? No thanks, great guy but a lot of wear and tear on his body. Wouldn't be surprised if the team goes with a rookie draft pick for the 2 games Bell will be suspended. Bites and others have listed a few RBs in later rounds the Steelers may target...Bell's heir at Michigan State looks like a possibility.

Now if the FO doesn't address any of those positions in the draft or FA then yeah a lot of posters will be right with you in criticizing them.

They always have at least 4 QBs in camp. What is the problem here?
