I have used draft tracker and the ratings, is Lance Zierlin son of Larry Porn Sender Zierelin, ? I am open to any positive suggestions, every year we as a group miss a prospect and I end up addiung another 25 to CMA. If anyone says an athletic OT like Humphries or Clemmings in not in Munchak's plans, I am all ears. For that matter even Adrus Peat, hey I am listeneing.,

I will discout any notion of a guy wo cannot drop as an OLB, because as beachum has demonstrated situational pass rushers have real value. But.... I can be convinced NOT to draft Kikaha because he is really stiff. We don't need LB's who will be beaten like a red-headed step child everytime a TE or RB crosses in front of him. IOW the LB's have to have some semblance of cover skills like Woodley and Harrison. A lot of times it is more play diagnosis and watching the QB's eyes than shadowing the receiver.

Yes, Lance is Larry's son. (He "interviewed" him at the combine) I'm thinking its Man/Power mostly, if the Steelers are going to draft a more athletic OL he will need to hold up (functional strength)(Especially for a guard). I think the tackles could be in the Steelers plans.

The cover skills of many of these OLBs will be a work in progress, they were 4-3 DEs in college and weren't asked to cover too often. I'm not sure which ones will be a liability in coverage.

Most years there are 20(ish) 1st round grades, this year maybe much fewer (depends on grader). The draft will get to a point where a player is 2nd round caliber but goes in the first round. Maxx Williams might have a 2nd round grade on the team that drafts him, but goes late first round. Travis Frederick was such a player. (and many teams had even lower round grade than 2nd)

I got a big omission, Rob Haverstein from Wisconsin, no upper body strength and it looks like he relied on his size at the NCAA level, won't work in the pros.

Contrary to popular belief, I can take constructive criticism. Beach reminded me how Ereck FLowers is a mauler, big, powerful, close to Marcus Gilbert, so I have him above some of the more athletic guys.

The kid that intrigues me is Danielle Hunter. One minute he is the next Lawrence Taylor, the next play he is Lawrence Fine. (this Larry ----> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HG7dmCjz534 )

  7. This isn't surprising. A lot of mocks had him going to the Steelers in round 1, but I just don't see it. Steal in round 2.

  8. steelersking M.V.P. Steelers

Very unsurprising update: Lance Moore was released according to NFL.com. Couldn't beat out Justin Brown for playing time and really had 1 memorable catch this past season. DHB probably won't be resigned so theres a spot for a rookie to slide into, or possibly last years 3rd rounder Dri Archer will see the field more. Archer had a forgettable rookie year, but I really think if you give this guy some touches in space he will have a huge positive impact next season. Ben missed him one game where Archer was wide open on a wheel route. Had Ben seen him, easy 6. I expect Archer to have a couple long TD plays next season if he can stay healthy.

  9. Between now and the new League year, I expect the Steelers to cut Cam Thomas, Ike Taylor, and Troy P. It is very evident the team is making room to make a splash in FA. I expect them to sign one of the available pass rushers on day 1. I expect them to sign Brandon Graham, then sit back and wait until the dust clears and grab a few guys from the second wave.

This still doesn't alleviate the need for pass rushers in the draft, but does give the team some breathing room.

Do you guys think this would be a good move for the team?

I think Graham would prefer his hand in the dirt, but he could go to a 3-4 team as well. Money talks.

  11. nybites M.V.P. Steelers UCONN

I am not buying into Kevin Johnson at 22, even with Graham as a pie in the sky FA, Worilds is walking, Jones is an enigma, Harrison is borderline Jurassic, and Moats is unsigned.

I am really doubting Bud Dupree is there at 22, some team will snap him up. But that means an OT or a CB will slide, so it's a waiting game. I have some crazy draft predictions:

By the time Pittsburgh picks, 5 WR will be taken. Cooper, White, Parker, Strong, Green-Beckham. The logic is this, even though it is a deep WR class, there are a handful of tier 1 guys, impact players who will make your team go from 18 points a game to 22 points a game. I do think Gurley and maybe Gordon go first round, but end of the round. Of the 3 second tier QB's, only 1 has a shot at late first, with a team leapfrogging the other teams top of the second. Possible Trade partners include the Colts and the Patriots. Colts need a RB and they can move back. New England trades all over the map.

Quew, The Lions are thinking DT now with Suh about to hit the market, no ?

Grahams a good fit for the Steelers 3-4

  14. I thought so, and he seems to be the guy that makes the most sense, as Justin Houston is out of their price range (and franchised) and it seems that the team has no interest in re-signing Woirlds unless he comes back at a reduced rate (which absolutely no one expects him to do).

Graham is apparently seeking a deal for 4 years, $30 million, with 20 Million guaranteed. That being said, many feel he was miscast in the 3-4 and would be much better suited as a 4-3 DE. The pool is pretty thin at 3-4 OLB, as Pernell McPhee is the only other person I would really be okay paying a high rate to, but he is supposedly seeking something along the lines of 10 million a year, which some teams could absolutely pay (the Colts are supposedly pretty interested and have a ton of cap space).

We scouted Graham and he was great at the senior bowl practices.
We all thought he Would be awesome as a 3 -4 OLB because of his size and speed.
4 - 3 was not a good fit for him.

  16. Steelroc74 Franchise Player Steelers

I go with Dupree, I think he can hold the edge better than Harold, already has the mass we've been missing at OLB, these JJ types at 245 are getting pushed around.

  17. Steelroc74 Franchise Player Steelers

Rarebreed your the LB expert, what's the 411 with Graham, I thought Reid had a Hybrid "D" where he would fit in with the eagles, but didn't seem to pan out?

  18. rarebreedsj Franchise Player Steelers

He tore his ACL the first year.
It takes a good year to come back and be 100%

At 6 -2. 265 his size says he's more of but not limited to a OLB
    in the NFL.
There's probably more 9n him if you Google it but I know I'm not alone on this.

T-Minus 30 minutes until path to the draft. One of these days I will Tweet Daniel Jerimiah and tell him to PLEASW give us late round Diamonds in the Rough. Enogh of the top 20 or 50, that's easy peasy, give us the round 6 guys who have the ability to start one day.
