I am Dead set against moving up & giving picks away. Moves like that end up being another Booker Reese Conundrum .

Here is Daniel Jerimiah's top 50.

See how he had Maxx Williams early-mid second and did not over-rate too
Many DB's, but had my man Byron Jones from UConn. I doubt Krapper or McShart had that pre-combine. I just wish I had been more vocal, kid can play.

  4. I know we all want to start putting together who the Steelers should look at and who they should draft, but none of that will even get defined until they figure out what they do in the offseason. The need for secondary help, pass rushers, another tight end, and a backup running back won't go away. Those are all things the Steelers MUST address during the draft. However, if the Steelers can sign Woirlds to a reasonable deal (which is truly 50/50), then the need for pass rushers still exists, but not with the immediacy that it once did. I still think the Steelers will son Moats as an insurance policy, regardless of what happens to Woirlds.

In all reality, the Steelers probably don't have a shot at the top 3 or 4 OLB's in the class, but that is fine considering this class is stacked with linebacker talent. I wouldn't be surprised to steelers wait until round 2-3 to address this, only because I can see them going secondary in round 1 and again in round 3-4. They can find another running back on day 2 or 3 to backup Bell and can grab some O-line depth along the way. The Steelers will be fine.

Unless they know 100% the player is the next Troy P.. I'm also dead set against moving up in the draft. I'd much rather move back... there is no such thing as a sure thing in the draft.

    Eli Harold, DE/OLB, Virginia
Eli Harold was on the cusp of being a first-round prospect entering Indianapolis, and he may have secured his spot in the opening frame. Harold ran a 4.60 40 with a terrific 10-yard split of 1.56. He also looked good in the field drills, and he managed to clock in 7.07 in the 3-cone, which was one of the fastest times.

That's the latest from Walter's on name that has been batted around.. I dont buy it.. Can someoine say Huey Richardson?

or Venon Gholston, or Mike Mamula, or pick a RB from Baylor in the 80's... :-X

Talk about over-reaction, but I saw Byron Jones mocked in the first round. WTF. I do think he goes second round, probably the Jets, they will reach, unless Hundley is there or Petty. Someone is going to love the 3rd QB and move up in the first. Which team in the 20's is missing picks, and which team in the 30's has picks to give away?

I know Quentin Rollins is athletic, long, but is he BPA at 22, doubtful. Colbert could go CB if the pool is not decimated by the time his clock starts. Really Trae Waynes is the only top tier CB. I know some are gong to crap when I suggest this, but they could go DL. Phillips and Brown really upgrade McClendon and would not only push the pocket to disrupt the likes of Tammy Babybunch, but also stuff the run. Goldman is listed as a 4-3 DT, reminds me of Ziggy Hood, so maybe not a fit.

Start thinking about the top 20, basically who goes, then let's look at the leftovers. Teams may or may not be scared after last years 1st round CB class really disappointed. Basically some of those CB' were not BPA and were need/reaches. Which translates to passing on Peters, Collins, Rollins, etc.., We shall see.

Draftek, holy moly are they out of whack.

Some crazy ones: Maxx Williams 13th overall. Trae Waynes 17th. Are they on crack??? Leon Orr to the Steelers. (wouldn't even take Mark Gorczak's instructions and was thrown off the Florida Team). Some of the 5th round picks. David Johnson, Doran Grant. sure. Steelers taking Alex Carter in round one, passing on Jordan Phillips, DJ Humphries, and La'el Collins. I know they like Beachum but Collins and Humpfries would be an upgrade IMFO.

I see a huge run on WR in round 1 this year, like 6 of them. Teams trying to replicate the success of Mike Evnas, Kelvin Benjamin, or Odell Beckham Jr. The new NFL you need 24-27 pts. per game to win on a consistent basis.

Bill Parcells said it best. You need a QB, a guy to protect the QB, and a guy who can get the other guys QB on the ground. Now in 2015 you need a guy to throw to.... so your top 4 positions are QB, LT, DE/LB, WR. I would then say CB is the next most valued spot. The two best CB's in the NFL are Sherman and Revis. Ironic how the Seahawks played the Patriots in the Super Bowl. *WRITE*

  10. I also see a run on WR's. Last year, the class was pretty stacked and this year it isn't QUITE that good, but there is still a lot of talent. There are a lot of teams looking for a spark at the top half of the draft and, after both top QB's are off the board, I expect 5-6 WR's, 3-4 O-lineman, and at least 4 linebackers before the Steelers pick at 22. That is A LOT of talent left. Who knows?maybe someone will be stupid and select an RB in the 1st as well.

Steeler's Depot latest mock has us taking Scherff OT from Iowa at 22.. I'm all on board with that - I was one of the ones talking about Zack Martin last year - he turned out pretty good. I think Scherff could make a great OG.... I also like Erving from Florida St depending how the draft plays out....

I really like Kenny Bell. He is a flat out FOOTBALL player. He is very coachable and will do what he is told to do. A humble kid who always feels he has to prove something. I'd be ok with the Steelers using a 6th round pick on him. The kid would bring instant toughness to a unit a feel lacks it.

Life has been getting the better of me recently (mostly in good ways, so don't worry), but I'll post a controversial post-Combine mock for us ASAP.

Good deal. For me the battle with cancer was a mere stepping stone compared to complicated issues I face on the homefront. The draft keeps me from getting depressed.

RE: Kenny Bell. I am telling you this kid screams Steeler. I like the fro too, maybe he will play like one of the dudes from the 70's. If I recall Lynn Swann had the fro going on as a rookie.

I agree with NY and everybody expecting a run on WRs in the first round this year. I fully expect three WRs to be off the board before the Steelers pick. If White, Cooper, and Parker are gone before KC picks at 18 I expect to see Strong be the fourth WR taken before the Steelers draft at 22. Some people don't expect the rookie WR class to have as much impact as the group from last year. I personally think the new no touch after 5 yards rule will allow rookie WRs to flourish in the NFL. Add DGB to the group and there is a real chance that five WRs could go in the first round.

  16. demolisher43 Franchise Player Steelers

    1. Landon Collins, S, Alabama
    2. Nate Orchard, OLB, Utah
    3. Byron Jones, CB, Connecticut
4A. Ben Koyack, TE, Notre Dame
4B. Josue Matias, OG, Florida State
    5. Ty Montgomery, WR, Stanford
    6. Xavier Williams, NT, Northern Iowa
    7. Andrew Donnal, OT, Iowa

The Combine boosted the stock of Trae Waynes and other commonly-mocked-to-the-Steelers prospects, but has done anything really for Collins. Collins gets pushed down to us because of it. Orchard is in a similar situation in the second round. Jones, however, saw his stock rise and we pick him in the third because of it.

    Dont hate me either Mock.....

    1) Brandon Scherff OG Iowa - Yeah - I love the road graders.. We play balt and cinncy - good inside Dline players - H.N. Geno Atkins.. Need to control and win games in our division.. we do that - we go to the playoffs regardless of strength of schedule

    2) Hauoli Kikiha OLB UDub... Pretty obvious we need help here.. Steelers are letting Whirlpool test the market

    3) Jesse James TE Penn State - Well be a need in a year or 2 - gives him time to develop - good athlete

    4) Eric Rowe CB Utah - We haven't gone early on a CB in years - why start this year ( I like the kid from Uconn too.)

    5) Clayton Geathers SS - UCF - hits like a truck - sometimes overly aggressive - but rather that than wave at ball carriers

    6) Tyler Varga FB/RB Yale - Instant ST player - can catch the ball, and I'm betting scores the highest of this group on the wonderlick

    7) Antwan Goodley WR School that shall not be named.. - again brings toughness - built like a brick not afraid of the middle of the field

    subject to numerous changes...

    enjoy,
