Steelers Draft and Mel Kiper sucks thread!!

  1. 1. Jarvis Jones OLB
    2. Robert Woods WR
    3. Le'Veon Bell RB (Franklin is my top guy but I see him going early and they like Bell)
    4. JJ Wilcox S
    5. Zach Dysert QB
    6. Denard Robinson WR/RET
    6. Elvis Fisher OT
    7. Michael Mauti ILB

I would not be surprised at all if they trade down if someone takes Jones. Colbert has said multiple times he wants a quantity of picks and really likes the players in rounds 2-4. I know some do not like Robinson but I saw Colbert was high on him back in February and the good thing about him is with drafting Woods they can let Robinson develop and play him on special teams. Another pick some may not like is Mauti, but the Steelers have shown a ton of interest in him so I get the feeling they secure him in the 7th. At that point reward outweighs the risk.

Interesting Article I read today re the Eagles 2010 and 2011 draft classes - they have one starter out of the group - a 6th round pick right now.. GM Rosen was saying that they made a mistake - picking for need vs picking Best Player Available.. and that this year - they are going straight BPA. If I can find the article online - I'll post it.. That is why - If Cooper is on the board at #17 - he has to be the pick.. unless they move back.. But dont worry - Coop will be long gone by then..

    enjoy,

Ok guys I'm watching Mike Mayock talk about his mock and he had us taking Jones due to us losing Harrison, not surprising but what is surprising is that Star ends up going to the cowgirls at 18, can you really fathom the Steelers passing a player like Star up for a coveted OLB? To me it would be way to good to pass up, him Ta'amu could battle it out, and maybe move McLenden to DE. I'd take that front Dline.

    Bb,

I was a fan of Marsh & Jarret, not so much on Graham

  10. Im sorry fellas, but wasting ur #1 pick on Star would b a huge mistake. The job of the NT is to occupy OL and let the LB's make plays. McClendon can get the job done and u can fill a more pressing need. Now, if u want him to play DE kinda like Ngata, then I could see the pick. U have to remember, Big Ben loves the TE and w Miller he had that security blanket....well hes gone for most of the yr so drafting Eifert fills an immediate need and also benefits in the future. I think they pick from TE, OLB, DB or safety in any order in round 1.

Show stopper looking at the mocks, Vacarro is going to the Rams. Eiffert to the Jets @13 is in the books, often. You could be right on OLB Jarvis Jones comes up a lot at 17 . Lotulelei as a 5-technique I heard that a lot, only if they don't plan on resigning Hood or moving him to the middle.( not a fan of that)

  12. I cant see NY taking another TE high in the draft.....they need a pass rusher and a DB after losing Revis. I think their 1st 2 picks will go that route.

Jets need offense really badly too, their offense sucked last year. How many games did they not score a TD in?

  14. Ya but it wasnt because of their TE. If they take a TE at 9 or 13 I wont blame the Jets fans for booing them out of the building. Hell if u want to score more pts take Austin over any TE or Warmack and just try and pound the ball.

Go to NFL.com there are 6 mocks and the latest versions have Eiffert to the Jets. Idzik is going to draft safe blue chip players to resurrect the mess Mike Tennanbaum made with crappy drafting & reaching. Ryan and Sanchez have one year left to turn things around. If I'm Idzik I don't even draft a QB in 2013, wait for 2014. Start fresh with a coach and your franchise QB in place. In 2013 draft BPA & add some building blocks. They can get a good CB at 41 and is Rhodes that much better than Taylor ? But Eiffert is going to be much better than Escobar or Ertz. JMFO in a nutshell Eiffert is one of the safest picks in the draft and it will help Sanchez.

I'd be pretty shocked if the Jets take Eifert that high. Honestly, I think they'd be better suited to take some other team's offer to move up so that they could garner more picks. Even if they keep both selections I can't see them not selecting from the following: Cooper or Warmack, one of two top corners (too many different opinions on this one), Mingo, or Austin.

As for Pittsburgh, I think my final wishlist are the following: speaking of Austin and Cooper, Jarvis Jones, Star Lucyinthesky, lukewarm but willing on Eifert (only because I like the prospect of Heath and Eifert, not Eifert as a replacement purely), Milliner (5 surgeries, but we're not talking 5 knee surgeries...he spread 'em out), or DJ Hayden (Cosell has me sold).

Players I hope to avoid: any RB, any WR not named Austin (Patterson, Hopkins: too early IMO), Xavier Rhodes, Mingo, and Vacarro.

Here's what I'm really praying to the gods for... a second round home run. I don't doubt that we'll do justice to the future of our squad in the first, but if we land a stud in the second I'll feel alot better about any and all that occurs afterwards (hell, I assume the brass will pull another WR gem in the 5th!, for example).

I've said this before on the forgotten site, the Eagles were drafting good players but they didnt fit there system. That pathetic wide 9 defense was just bad. Brandon Graham had a bad injury to his leg his rookie year. He played better towards the end of last season when there defensive system changed mid to late season. I fully expect Graham to flourish in 3-4 system they're going to in 2013.

Danny Watkins was just one of many bad OL the Eagles were reduced to. Soutland the new OL coach (Alabama's OL coach last year) thinks Watkins has the skill to be one of the better OL in years to come. Watkins seamed to have trouble picking up the Eagles scheme and with almost every other lineman new to the starting roll there was no help for him.

As far as the secondary goes I dont know how anyone can point to the draft picks being bad when every player in the secondary looked BAD!!! That includes Nnamdi Asomugha and DRC.

Thats the job for all 3 DL in a 3-4 defense. Pass rushing DL are 4-3 ends, if a DL in a 3-4 gets to the QB it's a luxury. Star has the size and skill to play all 3 positions and would be an upgrade over anyone they have now.
