Beasley came in bigger than advertised, he is gong to blow up today, trust me on this one, he will be gone before we pick. I had him at 22 a while back, his stock is rising. Peters interview is pretty much the key, he has the best mirror skills in the draft.

The knock on him is that he allows shorter players to contend for the ball, he doesn't know how to go u and get the ball at it's highest point. He could certainly use some basketball training, specifically rebounding.

A guy we all like, Jeremy Langford, ran a 4.4. I am hoping he lasts, seems to be the best backup to Bell they could draft. David Cobb disappointed he pulled a quad in the 40, he was another back I liked.

List of guys I do not like after yesterday.

Sammy Coates- inconsistent, does not catch the ball naturally, has attitude issues JMFO
Michael Dyer- looks lost trying to catch a pass.

    Need to look into more:

    Tre McBride

    Chris Conley http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-s...r-2015-combine-workout-warrior-212710807.html

    TOLD YOU SO:

    Kenny Bell

Fastest 40, tied for fastest 10 yd split. Looked decent dropping and opening hips. I think you're right. Move him into the top group.

Anyone see Green-Beckham's gauntlet yesterday? I missed it. I think someone is going to jump on this kid early. Can't teach his size and physical ability.

    Feeling pretty good about:

    Kenny Bell
    Vic Beasley
    David Johnson

all guys I had mocked to the Steelers.

I went cold on Kikaha because he looked stiff at the Senior Bowl. Nate Orchard does not look good dropping and changing direction..., but guys who looked a little bit better in that drill were Linden Trail and Za'Darius SMith. Nobody knows what they have with Shane Ray but I think he slides, not just because of the foot injury, (he'll work ou and runt at his pro day).but he is another version of Michael Sam, just more gifted.

here is an article with the same opinion as mine.

    Hearing Tomlin loves Shane Ray.

Geez, I sure hope not. Unless Tomlin loves him as a 3rd round pick, that is.

What is it you don't like about him? He's not anywhere close to resembling Michael Sam. Not sure how you would even compare those guys other than they both played at Missouri and were SEC Defensive Players of the Year.

I'd bet Five Figures you've never seen the guy play.

I saw a guy who gets frustrated and starts getting chippy and the PF flags fly. saw a guy who is explosive off the line and stiff in the hips. Beasley is a better fit but will not be there at 22. Ray gets to the QB no doubt, but so didn't Michael Sam. I hope it's moot and some team takes Ray before Tomlin & Co. goes on the clock.

If Jacksonville passes on Leonard Williams, they're out of their mucking find, assuming both QB's are off the board. The first pass rusher off the board will be Fowler, then Beasley, then Gregory. Where Ray goes is anyone's guess. Chicago seems likely to take Shelton, and the Giants may be replacing JPP, not sure how that situation is developing I don't follow the NYG

I've only seen the highlight videos of most of these guys, and I was not impressed enough to put a first round grade on him. A highlight reel should make you salivate when it comes to first round players IMO. I wouldn't be disappointed if he was taken in the 2nd, but I think there are plenty of other guys who should come before him - hence my 3rd round comment. That could change if his workout is impressive, but I just don't see a first round pick for him.

It's just that the Steelers need secondary help and Ray is an undersized DE which makes him an iffy OLB prospect.
Also, going on what I just read from the link above.

And I should clarify that I am talking about the Steelers only. Ray may do fine in a different scheme in another city, but I don't want the Steelers to spend their first pick on him.

Man it is time to break the mold in Pittsburgh. I want a freakin' pass rusher and I don't really give a crap if he's not great at dropping coverage. Terrell Suggs doesn't drop in coverage, Tamba Hali doesn't drop in coverage, Robert Mathis, Dwight Freeney, Mario Williams, Elvis Dumervil, John Abraham, DeMarcus Ware, Aldon Smith don't drop into coverage.

Doesn't have to be Shane Ray, it can be someone else but it's time to put a guy on the field that just rushes the passer and if he can't play full time so be it. Dumveril only played 600 snaps last year, those 17 sacks still count. Shane Ray can rush the passer. His first step is scary...

So you read one article, citing one scout and you take it as an opportunity to slam Tomlin with absolutely zero first hand knowledge on the subject? Typical...

Saying it figures is slamming Tomlin?

    You're funny

Shane Ray had a solid career at Mizzou. his Jr year (2014), he was DPoY for the SEC, he had 47 tackles in 14 games... BUT 22 of those tackles were for a loss plus 14.5 sacks. here are the more impressive aspects of Shane Ray:

    Tackles for Loss
    [22] 2nd in NCAA 2014
    [22] 1st in SEC 2014
    Career SEC** [34] (13th All-Time)

    Sacks
    [14] 3rd in NCAA 2014
    [14] 1st in SEC 2014
    Career SEC** [19] (14th All-Time)

    Fumbles Forced
    [2] 7th in SEC 2013
    [3] 2nd in SEC 2014

here is another quality to consider. Ray was ejected from a game this past season for "targeting", which translates to, he plays mean. that's what the Steelers need, a mean player. bring me a dirty, rotten scoundrel even if he's a DE, i don't care. is he a 1st rounder? i'm not sure. if he is what he seems to be, then it may be worth the gamble. we all know that the Steelers desperately need to upgrade their secondary, but the best DBs probably won't last to pick #22, so the rest of them can be plucked in rounds 2 and 3.

    NY,

Re - Coates - no thanks - has one of the worse drop ratio's of all players coming out this year.. Same goes for the WR that Mayock likes - Mayer(sp) from Washington St - no thanks...

I said it after the senior bowl - I like that LB from Clemson - Stephone Anthony - and after the Combine the box is checked.. Not sure if he is a Inside Only or not - if not - well worth a look... Moves very well.. etc... if he drops to day 3 - real good value..

    enjoy,

Where is the video of Shane Ray losing his cool and costing his team? Sorry that Mizzou game I caught I had a big red flag on him, maybe that is why I am biased. Hoever, after watching Shaq Thomspson yesterday, NOPE, my bad. He finds the ball, he is a guided missle, but I wonder at 228 how he holds up against a pulling NFL Guard.

Back to Ray, he may be BPA at 22, and his toe may cause team to pass. Remember with all the good tape out there, that is a highlight reel, they don't show you the bad tape at times I think we get caught up in the hype. I remember me and Mano liking the 5 technique that jumped out of a swimming pool, Jarron Gilbert, he was out of the league by 2011 and went 68th overall in 2009. My point is that you have to watch several games not YouTube highlight reels.

The draft is a guess, even Mel Kiper gets a few wrong... :D but my guess is to pass on Ray from what I saw. Kid could interview well and have an awesome pro day, and if he's a Steeler I'll root for him.

Another guy I would pass on is Linden Trail, slower than expected. The 40 is not everything but I wouldn't want a 4.9 guy on the edge constantly not being able to chase anyone down. The Patriots tried a slow LB out of Florida in the second round, Brandon Spikes, Hoodie upgraded him to Jamie Collin3 years later, end of story. Spikes if you remember was involved in the eye gouging incident and ran a pedestrian 40 at the combine. (5.05). NE also took another character a few rounds later., He is currently in an orange jump suit on trial for murder.

Two guys I want a closer look at. Eli Harold out of Va, and Davis Tull out of Chattanooga
