Nate Orchard DE Utah 6'3" 251 lbs. He had 84 tackles, 21.5 for a loss, and 18.5 sacks in the PAC 12 in 2014.

He's not big enough to play DE in a typical 4-3 defense. Perfect for a 3-4 OLB. Currently projected as a second round pick. He's got more than just a bull and speed rush. The kid is far more developed than many pass rushers that will enter the draft. I expect his draft stock to rise after the Senior Bowl...much like a kid I liked last year, Dee Ford.

Warming up to Clive Warford, Heath cannot play forever. Hope and pray he's there in round 3. I think WR DL and OL are not off the table in round one, but on the back burner. This team needs secondary help and pass rushers. Between McClendon and McCullers, they got serviciable bulk in the middle, not sure if I would use pick 22 on a NT, namely Danny Shelton. I watched a few Washington games and came away unimpressed, he got moved out of the way more often than not. He is lighting up the Senior Bowl practices, great, but let;s see how he looks in the game tomorrow.

I wonder if Demo has a mock updated, I sill like some of the guys we have been talking about and I woder if there will be a huge gap in Safeties. Looks like Jaquiski Tartt and Duron Smith are falling back into the 3rd round on mocksI did not see Tartt play, I mean who has seen Samford this year? But inevetably teams will push a player up based on value. Need OT's to protect the QB and you need Safties to cover the TE.

If LeBeau was still the DC, I would guess Doran Grant in the 4th. However, with Coach Dad gone I wonder if we go a draft without calling and Ohio State player?

Tomlin's from that area, but I doubt he's the only coach who knows about this kid and it's not recruiting. L-Trail could be an "Elephant" though...haha!

2015 Senior Bowl: 10 prospects who helped themselves
By Dane Brugler | NFLDraftScout.com Senior Analyst
    January 23, 2015 3:55 pm ET

The 2015 edition of the Senior Bowl will be played Saturday, but the heavy lifting is already done as all 32 NFL teams were represented in Mobile this week to evaluate prospects during daily practices. The game itself, scheduled for 4 p.m. ET on NFL Network, carries some value, but the majority of scouts and executives have already left town, having seen what they needed to see.

Below are 10 Senior Bowl prospects who opened eyes this week and helped themselves in the minds of NFL evaluators.

OL Ali Marpet, Hobart (6-4, 307)
It's not easy for a player to go from Division III to the Senior Bowl and stand out in a positive way, but that's what Marpet did this week, more than just holding his own during drills. He did a nice job squaring and with excellent body coordination to latch and play sticky against some of the best pass rushers in this senior class. Marpet might be ideally suited inside at guard in the NFL, but he proved in Mobile that he's worth a draft pick.

CB Kevin White, TCU (5-9, 180)
During practice drills, White displayed the athleticism needed for the position with natural movement skills, swivel hips and explosive footwork to redirect his momentum in any direction. Measuring 5-9 and 180 pounds with arms under the 30-inch benchmark, White doesn't necessarily look the part, but he is a top-notch competitor who doesn't back down physically, attacking the catch point with a "my ball" attitude.

DT Carl Davis, Iowa (6-5, 321)
After playing mostly a one-technique role for the Hawkeyes, Davis didn't have too many splash plays on his college game film. But when put in one-on-one opportunities in Mobile, he was near unblockable, using his initial quickness, brute power and natural leverage to shine during drills. Davis was already considered a top-75 draft pick entering the week, but after this week, he might have cemented himself as a top-50 prospect.

WR Jamison Crowder, Duke (5-8, 174)
It can be tough for a 5-8, 174-pound wide receiver to stand tall in this type of all-star setting, but that's exactly what Crowder did this week, showing the best combination of explosion and polish at the position. He has a tiny catching radius and small hands (8 3/8 inches), but caught everything thrown his way during drills, showing the ballskills and separation skills that will appeal to teams in search of an impact slot target.

    DE/OLB Nate Orchard, Utah (6-3, 251)
Despite a record-setting senior season at Utah, Orchard wasn't considered a first-round pick entering the week and was far from being a top-100 lock. But he forced evaluators to take a second look after he routinely flashed during practices, winning with edge speed, long arms and active energy. Orchard has his limitations, but he also uses his bag of tricks to be effective, reinforcing that at times the end result is more important than the process.

DT Danny Shelton, Washington (6-2, 343)
Shelton entered the week with a good amount of hype and he lived up to the expectations, showing off rare movement skills for a 343-pound body. He also has the upper body power to match, but got away with bullying blockers in college and needs to develop his hand technique for the next level. As the week winds down, Shelton is the prevailing favorite to be the first player drafted from the Senior Bowl rosters.

RB David Johnson, Northern Iowa (6-1, 224)
Looking like a linebacker during the weigh-ins, Johnson was another small school player who immediately proved that he belonged, especially as pass catcher out of the backfield. He doesn't have the traditional frame for the position and might be best suited as a hybrid H-back role, utilizing his ability as a receiver and blocker in pass pro. But regardless, he's a versatile prospect teams would love to add to the depth chart.

    OT La'el Collins, LSU (6-5, 308)
Just like his game tape, it didn't always look pretty for Collins in Mobile, but more often than not, he gets the job done. Seeing reps at tackle and guard, he showed the same grit and determination during drills that he does during games, extending and selling out on each snap. Collins will fall off balance and overextend himself at times, but he also showed that he can recover and finish his blocks. He reinforced the first round grades being thrown at him.

FB Jalston Fowler, Alabama (5-10, 264)
Although he's tagged with the fullback label, Fowler showed that he's much more than that. With only 12 carries as a senior for the Crimson Tide, he was an afterthought on that offense, but after seeing him during Senior Bowl practices, it was clear he was also underutilized. During drills, Fowler was quick through the hole with decisive quickness and the pop to brush off contact, keeping his feet and rumbling to the second level.

    G/C Shaq Mason, Georgia Tech (6-2, 310)
It was easy to see Mason's body control and quickness in Georgia Tech's triple-option offense, but it was near impossible to truly evaluate him until seeing him outside of that scheme. This week in Mobile provided scouts that opportunity to judge his talent in a pro-style look and Mason didn't disappoint. He made the easy transition and even took some snaps at center, which might be his best NFL position.

    ------------------------------------

Couple guys on that list I did see this week and Like a lot besides the obvious ones like Shelton, etc....

D.Johnson RB N.Iowa - would be a real nice day 3 pick - and I think that is where we should draft a backup to L.Bell - no earlier.

Shaq Mason - Did not mention him before - but looked good during one v one drills

Ali Marpet OT/OG/mabe OC - looked really good for A div 3 player - was not overwhelmed as Rollins, Hodges were..

enjoy the game today - 4:00pm NFL Netwrok.

    BB,

Happy Birthday. Also it's funny how all these players are moving up, well other than TJ Clemmings who is now a 3rd round developmental tackle. Somebody will slide, me hopes it's this cat Clive Warford. Not a deep class at TE, but the Minny kid comiing out helps. I also believe Funchess will go early second, he just has too much talent. Konyak is another in lthe line of NOtre Dame TE's that will be a solid pro. My gut tells me that Jack Nicklas's grandson will run a fast forty and pust him ahead of Warford, someone like Hoodie looking to replace Aaron "Hitman" Hernandez.

Speaking of that, if those buttholes in Fuxboro did have the ball boy lower the pressure I hope Goodell has the cojones to take away draft picks. To some this is a non story. But to me it shows a pattern of an organization looking to secretly bend the rules to get every posible advantage. Then they start pleading the fifth. Something's rotten in Massachsetts and it's not just the drivers.

    Thanks NY,

Yeah I like the Walford kid too.. I project him now as the best (will be) TE in this class - its thin. He'll be a nightmare to cover. Not wild about Nicklas's grandson - my opinion.... we'll see.

I dont like either the Seahawks or the Pats - but now find myself hoping the Seahawks win and win big

    enjoy,

There are a couple of CB prosepcts that might make terrific Safetys in the NFL.

PJ Williams is as solid a run support DB in college as it gets. He has good size at 6-1 196.
Not sure about his speed which might make him a better Safety then CB.

Like BB has mentioned Quinten Rollins is another DB with decent size at 6.0 203,
Solid tackler, good ball handling skills and can jump, helping with TE match ups.

    Just My Opinion

One thing is for certain, the game will not be high scoring. the QB's that commit to these games are career backups hoping to stick to a roster. A few exceptions ehre and there. My biggest gripe is that the agents soften up these kids and two guys who could move up into the first round with a solid game are Rex Hundley and Kevin Hogan. But since they have been pussified by agents not to get injured you get guys like G. Howie Sux and Willy Makit. . I feel that they feel risk outweighs reward and they advise the second tier QB's to avoid the game. Man, you never play to not get hurt, that is how you get hurt. Same crap at the combine, you get that "I'll make all the throws" (at my pro day under a scripted set in familiar territory). this is your interview with all 32 teams present, draft class this missed

In speaking with evaluators at a variety of teams, you will hear some mixed opinions on Florida State cornerback P.J. Williams. Some teams love Williams' ability to be a physical press man corner and think that if he runs well, he could be selected in the back half of the first round. Other teams point out that Williams was beat in coverage at times in 2015 and struggles in off man coverage. Some teams have said they have Williams graded firmly in the second round. Williams' 40 time at the Combine could have a big impact on his draft stock.

^^^^^^ Found this on Walterfootball. Doesn't look like P.J. Williams is the guy for us.

    Here are a few more.

    • One of the most impressive players on the field has been Washington defensive tackle Danny Shelton, and sources say that Shelton has also been impressive off the field in the team interviews. Shelton's family has been through some tragic things, but (Shelton) has come out of it with a great outlook and is getting high-character marks. Teams have also asked him about if he feels he's only a two-down player and his response is he's a six- or seven-down player. He doesn't need to go to the sideline to regain his wind, as he conditioned himself to play against up tempo offenses in college so he feels and plans to be ready to stay on the field with good snaps for all four quarters. Shelton has aced the Senior Bowl.[/*]

    • One player who has had a mixed Senior Bowl is Iowa defensive tackle Carl Davis. He has displayed a nice skill set with strength, size, and a burst. However, Davis has flunked the team interviews. He has said he didn't work hard in practice at Iowa because he was going against young scout team linemen and he didn't want to risk injury against some overzealous underclassmen. He told teams that he should only play about half the snaps in a game in order to be effective. Teams felt he came across as very arrogant and lazy. Davis is going to need to turn that around before his Combine and pre-draft visit interviews.[/*]

    • Sources say that Duke guard Laken Tomlinson has done a lot to improve his draft stock. Early in the 2014 season, teams were disappointed in Tomlinson and felt he was a day-three pick. However, they liked how Tomlinson played in the back half of the year as well as his performance at the Senior Bowl. Now, they view him more in the Round 3-4 range.[/*]

The last one should come as no surprise to burghball.

The Steelers are drafting in the back half of the draft.
Anyone can get beat at times but not everyone is as good as he is upfront
and why I think he could be a very good SS.

  15. nybites M.V.P. Steelers UCONN

Some observations, really liked the OG Tomlinson, I thought Shelton played well but not top 10 well, anyone else agree or disagree? Loved the toughness of Clive the Drive, got popped and got right back up. Good hands, now he may be gone late second early third. That Konyak kid is interesting, got the TD but he does not have that gear teams are looking for.

Abdeer Abdallah, no freiking way, hands are like puny, he fumbles too much. Games are won and lost on the slimest of margins, and one turnover one way or the other can decide a game. For example, if Fumblehall had not fumbled vs. the Packers the Steelers may already have 7 rings.

Thoughts on next Sunday, I would like the Patriots to be a first. The first team to admit to losing 5 Super Bowls that is. Well maybe that is a stretch, they don't admit to much.

  16. Ny, Broncos have lost 5 SB's, still would like the Patriots to join them though

  17. As long as our 1st rounder makes a big impact I don't have a preference, for that matter the top 3 picks, keep doing that and in no time we'll be back to being on top year after year.

According to walter here's a list of the teams that have had meetings with players at the bowl games:

    http://walterfootball.com/ProspectMeetings/ByTeam

Why are we not on this list? I'm baffled, if we have the opportunity to interview the players at the bowl games why not take advantage of that? I know there's a limit to the number of in house visits, and a number of interviews your allowed at the combine. If you are also allowed to do this at the bowl games why aren't we?!
