Yes he would! I've been talking about the kid for two years. He'll be gone in the first two rounds. Steelers aren't going to use a pick on a RB in the first 2 rounds.

With the current situation I don't think there is any way the Steelers don't use at least two picks for the secondary in this draft.

If Worilds walks and J. Jones stilll hasn't lived up to a #1 potential, then I can see a LB and DB taken in the 1st 2 rounds. But if none are left to take the risk, the Steelers should take the BPA. I don't think teams should reach too far when drafting for needs in he early rounds......Take risks in later rounds.....

Now that LeBeau is out we might as well start looking at pass rushing DE's
    Tampa2 is on its way.

I would like to know the scheme before I spend a few hundred hours figuring out who they are drafting. Sometimes prototypical does not fit the scheme, but certain players fit any scheme. Example yesterday was Tim Jernigan playing in the 3-4, he's a Warren Sapp type 3 technique all day, but had success playing the D Line for the Ravens.

Other than Jay Ajaji I would not use a draft pick on a RB unless they get a comp for Sanders, probably a 4th or 5th.

The 50 biggest draft busts of all time, as written by someone clueless. They left out a whole bunch of busts including JaMarcus Russell and Vince Young. 2 Steelers I picked up on while scanning the article, Huey Richardson and Tim Worley.

In the last 10 years I think I got some QB's right, I will admit I whiffed on JaMarcus Russell, then again most everyone else did. but.... Matt Barkley, Jimmy Clausen, Johnny Manziel, Brady Quinn, just saw the suck in them. I think Jameis Winson is out of the league by 2018, given the current NFL conduct policies. I also think Kevin Hogan is a sleeper and Brett Hundley goes in the first round with a trade up to jump the team who passed on QB's in round one. I think people forget that although it is a higher risk to take a 1st round QB, you had better be right, but you also have them under contract for an extra year. Which could be good, or could be bad. Linemen will dominate the first round. I will be surprised if Landon Collins falls to Pittsburgh, after watching Matt Elam just whiffing badly on a crossing route, good safeties are just hard to find. One reason Seattle is playing next week is the tandem of Chancellor and Thomas. Along with unbelievable speed from their LB's. Maybe the STeelers will figure out how to utilize SHazier, he fits that category.

Well, now with LeBeau out the door, that all but guarantees Troy will soon follow. That makes safety a need even from a numbers perspective.

Generally, I hate making something a need based on "quality of play" because it's so subjective. The corners weren't terrible overall (except Allen and Taylor), and we should have enough to fill a roster if the only one we let walk is Taylor. We have more than enough actual projected holes on the roster to fill, too much to worry about a supposed problem area.

Safety is a need we'd have to fill through the draft. No free agent would likely be available who'd be good enough or cheap enough.

One of the best pure 4-3 DE's in this class is Shalique Calhoun, IMFO.

    Calhoun is staying in school

Good, The Steelers ain't drafting him anyway. Theydon't have the players to suddenly convert over to a 4-3, I mean heck thre are enough good LB on the roster you want 4 of them on the field.

so you don't think the main problem with the defense last year was lack of pressure on the quarterback

I think the scheme needed some adjusting with the new rules. Mainly the cushion consistently allowed in pass coverage. Good QBs can pick that apart especially since after five yards the DBs are no longer allowed to redirect the WR. Constantly bringing Polamalu up to the line and leaving a nice big hole and no help on the backside was a big issue.

It's hard to get pressure when the other team can get the ball out quick. The Steelers don't have dominate pass rushers but the coverage scheme allows for quick passes and nullifies the pass rush.

Half of it yes, the other part while doing an ok job (not good enough) is that the secondary is just not talented enough back there. They don't have the height to stick with many of the WR's that are on rosters, they lack closing speed, and coverage ability. The lone bright spot was gay this year. When you're basically down to ST lifers you need to start drafting more talent in the secondary.

I agree but Colbert won't reach. I would crap a Catamaran if Landon Collins falls to 23. Team needs speed, closers, basically what Troy & Ike used to have. Unless Arik Armstead makes it to 56 I would stick to the back 8 on D w/ the first 2 picks. 2 small school safeties I like a lot: Derron Smith & Jaquiski Tartt. I was right on Kam Chancellor, a guy with a similar build is Eskridge out of Syracuse

You mean the same needs they have had for oh say 7 years ? :)

Collins would be an excellent pick. I suspect his stock is only going to rise as the draft gets closer.

The latest mock I saw shows the Bucs going with Leonard Williams over Mariota or Winston. I can't imagine the Bucs passing on a potential franchise QB. If the Bucs aren't going to take a QB with the first pick I think it's more likely they trade the pick with a team like Cleveland than it is they use the pick on a DT.

I agree with Dungy on Mariota. He's going to be a very good NFL QB. The talk that he is a system QB is silly. He's the complete package. People who knock him say he's a system QB. I say he's a guy that maximized the system he was given to run. No character flaws or giant ego. Finished his college degree in three seasons. His tape says he can make all the throws and read a defense. He can outrun most defenders. He's got wheels and knows when to use them. I like everything about the kid.

I was a big Russel Wilson fan a few years back. I didn't like him more than Luck but I did like him more than RG3. Last season I argued that Bridgewater was the best QB of the draft. Consider the guys Bridgewater was throwing to and he had a pretty good rookie season. I hated Johnny Football. I'm grateful the Browns didn't take Bridgewater.

Winston has the skills but lacks the self control and discipline to succeed in the NFL at this point. Watching him yell at the coaches and make stupid decisions against the Ducks only solidified my opinion of Winston.

Hundley was projected as a first round pick last year. If he doesn't go in the top 20 picks he's going to go in the second round or get drafted by a team trading back into the first round to get a QB.

I would love to have Collins but if not him Pj Williams
    Is a Steelers type CB.
Watch his highlights, he is excellent in run support and
could possibly be a pro bowl Safety if able to make the transition.
