Damn, did NY get into a fight with the lion at the zoo again?! I keep trying to tell him not to go into his cage, but NO!

Steelers allowed 1050 yards rushing int he first 8 games and then only 799 in the second half of the season. Now it could be teams passed more on them in the snd half or the Rush D actually got better or it could be a combination of both. The two big keys to their turnaround are the D started forcing turnovers (14 in 2nd half vs 6 in the first half) combine with the Offense keeping the ball in the second half giving it away only 7 times in the second half compared to 17 (11 in the first 4 games) in the first half.

Also the offense averaged 28 points a game in the second half of the season. When you score more it forces your opponent to abandoned the run and pass a lot more.

    I have kind of adopted the role of "NFL Historian". So far I have three articles up and posted that attempt to walk the reader through the earlier years of the NFL. To make it easy for all of you to find them, here's a link to my page;

    http://live4sportnetwork.com/frontend/author/lyman/

Over the course of researching for these articles a number of story lines jumped out at me and I will attempt to bring these stories to you as I go forward. My plan is to let the young pups on here debate the pros and cons of individual players, games and/or seasons while I will look at the league in much larger buckets of time.

Any feedback would be appreciated (I have thick skin) or if you would like me to look into a specific aspect of the game, let me know.

    Thanks in advance.

P.S. L4SN is working on the "All Posts by Jason Smail" banner on this page . . . They really are mine. :|

{edit} Yup . . . they're working on it. Now it reads, "All Posts by Mathew McKinnie" :D

I've read one of those articles and was very impressed. Read like a professional article and very interesting. Will read the others soon. Well done.

Outstanding work Lyman. All three articles were great. I did not know that Art Rooney sold the Steelers at one time - color me educated.

It's funny, I thought your avatar was just a joke but now I know it's a portrait of you in your youth! *ROFL*

Are you trying to imply that there was football being played PRIOR to 1972???

    FIE!!

    FIE I SAY TO YOU!!

TAKE YOUR EVIL, SERPENT TONGUED STORIES OF FALSITY AND PEDDLE THEM ELSEWHERE OLD MAN!!

Is anyone else getting emails from
    scott Atkins of scoutfantasy.com ??
(Pertaining to a podcast on Fantasy Football)

My Fantasy is mock drafts and the war board. I will not root for any other team or their players unless they're beating up on Bradybunch or helping the Steelers playoff chances

    Nope - Not me...

Yeah - I dont root for any other teams either...

That is why I had to stop writing about the Packers. I only do Steelers, I have no love for other teams anymore.

  12. firehalo Guest

    what other teams?

  13. gidion72 Legend Steelers

The ones we have to beat to add more Lombardi's.

  14. igloofn68 Guest

Why would anybody root for another team unless it was going to help the Steelers anyways? Although there are teams I don't like and root against, haha

  15. I know it's a particularly slow time right now, but after reading an article in the tribune review, I wanted to see everyone's thoughts.

Because Jason Woirlds only has season under his belt, is playing on a one-year deal, and they had very little depth at OLB for the future. The team brought in Arthur Moats in free agency to help assist this year and for the future. Obviously, we haven't seen much from him yet, but does anyone think the Steelers are giving him a year to learn the defense so that they can replace Woirlds in 2015?

  16. manosteel9423 Franchise Player Steelers

Well, Moats is also on a one year deal, so its no lock he will be here in 2015 either. I think Moats was a guy they knew had position flexibility that could start in a pinch and be effective. I don't think they see him as a long term starter at any position on this defense. He would be a stopgap at best.

If Worilds has a great year and doesn't get a long term deal, he'll be franchised next spring.

Mano, spot on ... here's proof. This guy seems like a great fit both defensively and ST. Attitude and gratitude count imo and his injection of both feel good. TWT...

makes a good point of recognizing a good defense, playing on it and finding current comparisons ...
bringing it all, speed strength positional flexibility intelligence and 4 yr. pro experience, to the Steelers.

This looks like a solid pre-season acquisition.

Installment #4 is now up and posted.

And they're still working on the "All posts by . . . " banner. Now it reads Tim Campbell.
