Ryan Shazier is fast enough to be a safety, I think is more to the point.......

Read an article that Tuitt has weight problems and tire's easily if overweight and is slower. They also said he looked good because he played with good players around him. Also said that Bryant had some off the field problems. Has a kid or two and had academic issues, so didn't play in the Bowl game. From Yardbarker.

You would think Bryant's academic problems would fuel him to make the team, especially with a kid. As for Tuitt and some of the articles I've read, I'll take a wait and see attitude. Yardbarker doesn't usually have their own writer's. They usually go around and find articles that are written and post most of them. They tend to put many articles of Ed Bouchette's reasonings are. Although a lot aren't and some are......

A QB probably not going to be invited to the 2015 Combine. University of Rutgers QB Phillip Nelson. Arrested for kicking a Minnesota man in the head twice while he was down, after a bar altercation. A real tough guy there, Rutgers tossed his Loser ass off their team. He had just transferred from Minnesota. The injured man is still fighting for his life.

Okay I will admit it, he wins the douchebag of the month award over Manziel and McCarron.

  5. Bryant has already come out and said that the reason he left school as a junior is to take care of his family. The kid sounds like he made some mistakes, but has a good support system at home and is very driven to work hard. Barring very serious injury, I feel like he can catch a few "cheap" touchdowns.

Intersting article on Howard Jones on Steelers Depot. His nerves got the best of him in Indy, he actually ran 4.3 hand timed for scouts
He is very raw and explosive, not much experience, but you don't find 235 LB's who can run 4.3. In fact, Pittsburgh had to outbid Arizona to sign him as an UDFA.

I expect our offense to kick azz this season. Ben finally got on the same page as Haley. Mike Munchak is a really good oline coach, our backfield is a strength instead of weakness, we have a top 5 WR in the league in Brown which should make it easy for Wheaton, Moore, Bey, Bryant, Miller, Bell & Archer to get open. Bryant & Miller should be nice redzone targets. This could be the year us Steeler Fans don't have to worry about going into cardiac arrest every time the ball is snapped.

All this undersized nonsense doesn't even make any sense. You act like the guy is 225lbs.

    Ryan Shazier combine 6'1", 237lbs
    Patrick Willis combine 6'1", 242lbs ... 3-4 linebacker
    Ray Lewis combine 6'1", 240lbs ... 3-4 linebacker
    Navorro Bowman combine 6'1", 242lbs ... 3-4 linebacker
    Mychal Kendricks combine 5'11", 239lbs ... 3-4 linebacker
Luke Kuechly combine 6'3", 242lbs ... capable in any scheme
Bobby Wagner combine 6'0", 241lbs ... half his snaps come in 3-4 scheme
    Daryl Washington combine 6'2", 230lbs ... 3-4 linebacker
Sean Lee combine 6'2", 236lbs ... excelled in the 3-4

Do you even watch football outside of Pittsburgh? Do you watch any other 3-4 defenses? Find me two better linebackers than Navorro Bowman and Patrick Willis. You're telling me 5lb weight difference makes them 3-4 capable and Shazier a safety? It's just complete nonsense Breed. Wake up man.

I think we've covered this to death in various threads but linebackers don't need to be 255 or more anymore, they need their speed and to be technically sound in shedding blocks. Coverage is so reliant on speed and athleticism these days.

And lastly- just wait a while before you think your team screwed up, trust them especially considering they have a history of scouting well.

According to Lebeau (from his own mouth), he is looking for some rookies to come in and contribute right away on defense. Mainly because the Steelers have lost too many veterans. The main players he hopes can contribute as they get more experience are players that show improvement each game. Those players will get a ton of playing time if they show improvement. The main players he's hoping for is Shazier and Tuitt. Wheaton and Bryant are supposed to fight it out for starting spot opposite Brown (Moore the slot receiver). Bell is a good runner and the OL should be better. I think defense is going to be the main concern. A lot is going to depend on the rookies drafted.

You got me there beach and yes I watch more teams play than Pitt.
Unfortuately my area gets force fed the Eagles :/

I watched some highlights of Shazier he seams to be a very hard hitting LB,
so more looks like he should be a good player for us.

Had my heart set on yet another CB only to have the Steelers take an ILB.

Shazier wasn't on any of our radars, but after looking at his play a little closer he looks like a really good player.

The Steelers are also looking at Zumwalt very closely, out of UCLA I think. They think he can do a variety of things. They told him to pay attention too IL as well as OL. They think he can play either position. Zumwalt thinks he'll being playing in different area's instead of one specific position. This of course could help him make the team taking over for injuries at any linebacker position.....

Speaking of Zumwalt, he had a hideous 40 time at the combine, but in a private workout he was timed at about 4.3. I am pretty sure he can beat out Carter for a roster spot.

  17. igloofn68 Guest

Zumwalt said his nerves got to him, which was the reason for the bad time at the combine Gidion. He IS much faster. He let his nervousness get to his brain. They also brought that up in the article. Thanks for bringing that up. I forgot to mention it. :)

  18. In the big games this kid showed up.....Stanford 9 tackles, Oreg 14, Zona 10, USC 8 and bowl game VT 10 and 1 Int....he will b a Spec Teams demon to start and eventually work in the LB rotation....6th round was a steal for an athletic LB coming from a big time school

Now we know why rarebreed is often in such poor spirits! The Philly fanbase is wearing down his natural Steeler resilience! *HI*
