and if they had a LB who could cover he would have stayed on the field.

THis LB group could be very very good.. Our defense is LB driven and eggs-cited to see it "come together"...

    J.Jones - Shazier - Timmons - Worilds - with some good depth...

Will be interesting to see what today brings. Still wish we had our 3rd round pick - there are going to be good players in that round and we're missing out... Hopefully we dont move up to pick a LS...

Eagles - man did they reach - I watch quite a few Louisville games and M.Smith in the first? wow

    enjoy,

    one of the idiots

One thing that really stood out in that video was that he said, "I want to be known as a great person before I am known as a great football player." To me that screams that he is selfless and going to be all about the team.

While I am still bummed out from passing on Dennard (and seeing the Bengals scoop him up), I am excited to see what Mr. Shazier brings to the table.

38 seconds in, its hard to tell but i wanted to illustrate what kind of athlete he is, i cant count the numer of times ive seen linebackers just fall over when they adjust their run at fall speed and he has tremendous balance, and ive seen him go a lot more horizontal than that.

Now they're going to need a big NT in the middle to take some of the punch out of the stronger RB"s
or this guy will get run over. I dont know what it is about these fast little LB Colbert likes so much.
If they wanted speed inside they should have just took Pryor and groom him for Troy's spot.

Oh, and I am seeing his number is going to wear 56???

2K did you here the commentators reaction to the pick ?

He might!! end up being a good player but he was a reach at 15 and wasnt BPA.
Almost every year this is disappointing over the last 8 years.

Dont give me they know what there doing BS because the have built a 8-8 football team
with almost no probowlers and up against the salary cap limit every year.

You should see some of the comments on Johnny Asswipe, then you get the people from Mamby Pamby Land saying don't be a hater. What is there to like about the kid? Arrogance, smugness, cockiness, self-entitled, annoying, grating, contemptuous, and supercilious. Those are not qualities I admire.

This is our 7th draft together as a group, each year we learn more. IN 2007 I was bumming because the Jets jumped up to get Revis, and our new coach took Timmons, somebody I did not think was as good as Revis.

Revis is considered great, but to me the kid is self-important and greedy and held franchises hostage with his salary. Meanwhile Timmons has a ring and never said Boo.

There are some DB's in this draft that will be over-valued because of their exceptional height. I have my guy pretty high up and a few guys behind him should be there end of 3 and mid 4th. Have some faith. The early run on CB and WR doesn't scare me, but if I were at the table I would consider WR before some of the favorites are wearing other jerseys. JMFO

  11. Shazier's last 5 games were crazy good....70 total tackles and 3 sacks compared to Mosely's last 5 games 47 total tackles and 0 sacks

History suggests the Steelers will wait until the 3rd for a wide receiver and as deep as this group is maybe they wait til the 4th.

He's a tackling machine. First start as a freshman ...

    15 tackles vs Penn State

Can we see what this kid does in the NFL before we crucify the team for taking him, breed? The Steelers obviously thought highly of him because they wasted no time turning in the card for him. Lets see what their plan is and how it goes.

Not problem waiting on a WR.. Couple of players I like later - kid from 'Bama for one...

It won't matter. He could win rookie of the year and he'll still call it a terrible pick.

If he's like Timmons we will have to wait till his 2nd contract comes up before he
produces. This guy is going to need a couple years in the weight room. :/

LOL you crack me up, breed!

Shaz is physically like Timmons, but Timmons was young when he was drafted and lacked game experience. He was playing behind two guys who lead the #1 defense in the league two years in a row, so forgive him for not starting day 1. Shaz is competing against a 2nd year 6th round pick and a free agent stopgap player so you'll see him early and often.

Weight room, yes. He needs to gain 10 lbs and that will slow him down to a 4.55.

Timmons began producing year 2 with 5 sacks in only 2 starts. Speed kills.

this isnt the nfl of the 90, there arent 260 pound full backs flying in to your face all the time, and i suspect they wont put ryan in the a or b gap for run support unless its likea designed blitz of sorts, i think they will use him on the outiside and utilise his speed and balance while dropping him back so they can use his...you know..speed and balance along with solid pass coverage, give him a year or two and this will be one of those times where we look back and say ' why are you guys so mad all the time?'

timmons is good, shazier could be as good, have faith in your coaches, its not remotely a bad pick no matter how you look at it really.

also timmons wasnt bad when he entered the league, his issue was over pursuit, and he worked on it, not everyone wins droy or goes to the pro bowl, you want meaningful starters- and i think you have that. so take a chill pill and put the razor blade down and leave your wrists be.

Thats not true beach. I have no problem admitting when im wrong.
I was WRONG!! about Curtis Brown good ST but very bad CB.
CB like QB is very hard to tell who is going to be good in the NFL this is why you try to get
The best college has to offer and hope for the best. I did want Kyle Fuller but I cant blame
    not getting him on Colbert.

When your drafting this high you dont take players thats might be good 3-4 years from now
because your paying them starting money. You want them to learn and get experience their first
and be at least a satisfactory starter in their 2nd.

If the Steelers were smart, last year they would have taken Jamie Collins with there 2nd
round pick. He actually can play both ILb and OLB positions.
Tyler Effert should have been there 1st round pick. Dual receiving TE's would took the
pressure off having to have a true #1 WR.
That would have let the Steelers get a good CB to replace Ike.
Who do they have now, allpro tub warmer Allen and Gay ( who actually played pretty good last year )
but is a nickle CB at best.

There is a couple more DB's left hopefully they use there head and get one.
