not really,, Worilds is currently on a one year deal. LeBeau and Butler might think Shazier goes right next to Timmons and they stop the running up the middle crap.

LOL I was actually talking about Pouncey. But he wasn't 15 was he?

I dont think so, i think letting woodley go said they had faith in jason. this is simply a team getting the man they want.

The most baffling first-round pick in years. I am flabbergasted. Shazier wasn't even on my radar. He's listed as a 4-3 OLB, but the Steelers have to be thinking ILB. ILB killed the Steelers last year. BUT-- this guy is skinny as a rail and fragile too. He'll have to gain about 15 lbs. to be as big as Farrior or Foote, and both of those guys were undersized. A project and a reach.

He fills a need (in a year or two, once he's gained 20 pounds of muscle and learned a new position); but there is no way he was BPA-- or even close to it.

Anyway, it's done now, and he's a Steeler. I am going to hope for the best.

    He would.

Shazier is an athletic freak of nature. There isn't a linebacker who matches his lightning-in-a-bottle speed. He produced at Ohio State and had a down year last year.

Prior to 2013, he WAS ranked this high on most big boards. Even I raised an eyebrow when I heard his name, now, though.

I look back to 2010 when I HATED the Pouncey pick and refused to entertain the notion that he could have been the pick at 18 prior to the draft.

Great point Indy.. And now that he is a STEELER - I'm behind him to be a success.

I wish Tomlin and Colbert actually read this forum.
    They SUCK!!!

  10. They were at Dennard's pro day and Tomlin ran drills with him. They must have seen something they didn't like. That being said, I think he will be a good solid pick.

Skinny as a rail? I hate to bring up the hammy video again but he's not anything close to skinny as a rail. He's built like a shick brithouse.

No, he's an ILB. He will play the Buck for Lebeau. He's a smart kid, vocal kid who can call the defense. He is exactly what this team needs at ILB.

With a bigger need at CB I can understand the disappointment, but I much prefer this pick to Mosely. Period. Shazier will be an impact player.

Told you if we pass on Mosley he will be in purple twice a year.

I guess the Sean Spence experience is over?

Awesome! We can now argue Mosley vs. Shazier for years!

Great pick for the Ravens.... and we'll get to see him twice a year

Well...this should be interesting...the debate will rage on for years on who got the better LB in the 2014 draft!! :D

Shazier has LeBeau's influence all over it.

No, he was 18. But I remember that year too. I was among the Pouncey haters.
