It has happened before when a team decides it wants a QB. Not saying it is worth it for them, just that there are usually teams stupid enough to do it.

  2. What do you all think about the reports stating the 49ers are willing to deal to move up?

If the Steelers become a potential trade partner, I don't see the Steelers trading back this year unless the 49ers offer them a 1st and a 2nd rounder WITH Lattimore. However, if Dennard and/or Evans is there, not even a "Cleveland-esque" move is going to make them not pick one of those guys.

  3. The thing that many of us have to remember is that, while all of these mock drafts are great, they represent what teams SHOULD do. Keep in mind that, there is a reason many of these teams are continuously drafting in a "prime" location. Owners put pressure on head coaches and GM's to pick a certain guy, even if it makes no sense, and the team suffers as a result. We are very lucky the Rooney's let the football people handle the football stuff, rather than JJ who thinks his oil background and ownership gives him any knowledge or understanding of how to evaluate players.

Don't crap on JJ, he is the football genius that built the Cowboys of the early 90's, or so he would have you believe. Al Davis Jr. will keep it up well into his 90's ensuring the Steelers that they won't threaten us again for any SB winning records.

The credit for the Cowboys success in the 90's is due to the dumb ass from the Minny Vikings that made that trade - that gave the Cowboys numerous picks and laid the foundation for their 3 SB during that run... Jimmy Johnson? na - Barry Switzer - is he really smarter than a 5th grader? Highly doubtful..

Jerry Jones has no idea how to run a football team. Johnson left the Cowboys because Jones realized the numbers operations of a football team isn't as glamorous as personnel operations, and Johnson was the sole figure responsible for that in his time there. Jones wanted more power, and Johnson didn't want to give it up, so Johnson left the team with a $2 million bonus for doing so in 1994. Since then, and except for Bill Parcells, Jones has had a bunch of spineless hacks who must have little to no interest in managing a roster if they have any longevity in Dallas. He's been as effective an owner as Al Davis was late in his life. The Cowboys are about publicity first, football second, and that shows with the team's dreadful recent playoff history and extravagant palace of a stadium.

In addition, Jones has been a supporter to some of the scheduling, money-making changes the NFL has experienced which fans often criticize. He's poison for the Cowboys and the odor seeps out into the NFL as well.

I don't have a ravenous hatred for the Cowboys themselves, but I have no respect for Jerry Jones. As long as he's the helmsman, the Cowboys will never have playoff success. But hey, at least they'll have an owner in a Papa John's commercial! *CRAZY*

  7. I would argue that Jerry Jones is VERY good at being the Cowboys owner and running to day-to-day BUSINESS operations of the team. He got them a new stadium, a good sponsor, they are ALWAYS in the headlines and they are still an incredibly marketable franchise, despite average success over the past couple of decades.

Jerry's biggest problem is his ego. He wanted more control as the GM and has had plenty of busts, reaches, overly expensive contracts, and taking risks when it was unnecessary. He doesn't listen to his scouts and he doesn't give his coaches the ability to coach. He even went on the record saying that, even if he hired a GM, he would basically micromanage them so it's not even worth it.

This is why I say that we are VERY lucky we have the owner/GM/HC structure that we do?and the way that the franchises that are continually successful are. It's amazing that JJ doesn't see that. One has to assume that, when a team goes 8-8 and he's watching the teams go into the playoffs, the thoughts of how they are structured or what they are doing internally doesn't cross his mind.

  8. Jones puts together a team full of individuals that will get headlines and sell jerseys.

In other words you guys are saying Jerry Jones and Al Davis are kind of the the same with different personalities?

I think 1 of the more important things to remember (that some may have forgot) is that if you make a trade with the 49er's, your more than likely going to get one of the last picks in the 1st round! Close to the 2nd round. Is it really worth it? I think the 9er's like Evans, no? Probably a better Lattimore, who will probably go in the 2nd the way he's rising.......

I'm repeating myself but I would move back for the 49ers 61st and 77th. As it stands now we don't have a pick between 46 and 97. Moving back to 30 is worth it to fill that gap with two picks. I think that's Allen Robinson, Donte Moncrief, Stephon Tuitt territory.

You hit it right on the head beach.

49ers need a lot more than a WR with Aldon Smith fen up his status.

Yeah, I read that before Bum. It might be worth it now that I think about it. I would wait and see who's there before jumping in though. Sometimes great players fall ala Woodsen and Roehthliberger......

Would you make that trade if Barr fell?

Am I alone in hoping great things for Terrance West? Probably not, but I wouldn't mind if he's our pick at 97 in the least.

    Without a second thought.

Love the T.West story - but I think 97 is too early for West - Dont sleep on the RB's from Wisconsin (White) and the kid from Georgia Southern McKinnon.. both would be nice day 3 picks also.
