He told a NFL coach he was too tired to work out.

It was like farting in church, something smells and it's out of place. Did it actually happen is the real question and did a team with questionable ethics put it out there?

I would love if he fell to our 2nd pick.

  3. I heard it was false bout Benjamin

I am hoping we get a good CB in rd1 and Moncrief in rd2, unless Benjamin is still there. I think Benjamin would have a chip on his shoulder to prove other teams wrong if he fell that far. Think of Mosses first few seasons with the Vikings. By the time his second contract came up Ben would be retiring and we will have put a couple of more Lombardi's in our case.

Yardbarker is bringing up Varrett as one of the top 3 corners in the draft. If the Steelers could get Dennard and Varrett in the 2nd round, and they live up to their potential, they wouldn't have to worry about corner for a long time. But the Steelers don't have luck drafting corners early and they NEVER drafted a corner in the 1st round under Colbert's watch.....

I think Keenan Lewis leaving is still haunting the brass, they had Cortez and Keenan as the backfield of the future. If they hadn't given Woodley all that guaranteed money. (If "if" was quiff, we'd all get a whiff).

I don't like Clinton-Dix, I think Pryor is a better fit, he may be gone. At least one CB is off the board by 15, maybe two depending on what the sucky teams do with QB, pull the trigger or wait. I'd like to take a stab at the QB per team in need.

Houston- we have a problem. However, with the 33rd pick, it would not cost them that much to slide back ahead of Cleveland at 26 and grab Carr or whatever flavor suits them.

St. Louis- Yes the Rams, what has Bradford done, where has he led them. With Saffold signed, and Long coming back, not so sure if Greg Robinson is the need pick. They also hold the 13th pick. So at 2, 13, and 34 they can certainly fill 3 holes, If it were me I would grab a QB later, DB @ 13 and Greg Robinson @ 2, He's one of the safest picks in the draft along with Watkins, and Matthews, Jake Long is well Long in the tooth and who knows if he'll ever be the same. To me it makes the most sense to grab the Best QB available in round 2 or 3, see how the draft unfolds. Tom Savage is a hot potato right now and AJ McCarron is solid if not spectacular. Worse case, heck middle rounds Taj Boyd, Brett Smith, or Logan Thomas will still be there.

Jacksonville- You know what, draft Manziel. They need something, anything to fill up the empty seats. He is a high risk but if he plays anything like he did for the Aggies, they'll look like geniuses.

Cleveland- I'd pass on Manziel, playing Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Cincy twice a year, he is going to be hamburger by week 12. They like Carr, and bringing in Manziel for a private workout is part of the chess game. I think the fans want Johnny Azzhat, not sure if Zimmer will be all in. Why not take Kahlil Mack and fix the defense or pair Watkins up with Gordon and put the fear of God into Defenses. Then if Carr is still there when the Cardinals are on the clock, offer them 26, 35.

Oakland- Matt Shaub is a Band-Aid, if they stink up the League in 2014, then Mariotta and Hundley are coming out. FOr now, see who slides to them.

Tampa- I'd stick it out with Mike GLennon, there are enough QB available to give him competition. They need another WR or offensive weapons in General.

Minnesota- Heck the Carousel continues in the Purple Dome. If Bortels slides to 8, I think they're itching at the trigger. The safer pick would be the LB help they need in Barr or Mosley. Barr is big enough to play DE as well, and his upside is huge. Second round, Mettenberger could be there, or like they did last year, trade back into the first when they grabbed Cordarelle Patterson. Not sure how far up they have to move, but I think it's safe to say Cleveland at 26 if they did not grab a QB at 4, is their jump over target.

Tennesee- Ok Jake Locker is THE MAN, well kind of, well not really. In fact Keith Price put up slightly better numbers and you can draft him very late in this deep draft. They have a lot of holes, so maybe they wait on QB. Heck round 2 they're probably looking t o replace Chris Johnson.

Arizona- Carson Palmer was drafted in 2003, he's now in his 12th season. They've tried a variety of QB's, most of whom sucked azz. I mocked Manziel to them at 20, just because he does not have to see the field in year one. Speaking of, it's hard to predict this kid, he could go 3rd overall or fall into the 20's, but someone will take a shot, sure as sh.it.

Cincinnati- Andy Dalton, good QB, but makes some terrible throws, and can anyone see the Bengals going deep into the playoffs with him, I can't. You've got a stud in AJ Green, you've got Gresham, time to upgrade the QB. I think they go DB in round one, whether it's Fuller, Pryor, or TBA, but later on, there is enough mediocre talented QB in this draft, it's worth looking into the middle rounds. Or at the end of the draft, Bryn Renner could be a sleeper.

What do you think of Carr , QB out of Fresno, Bites? Does he have more potential than the others?

  8. nybites M.V.P. Steelers UCONN

Actually Bortles has the most potential, McCarren is the safest pick if you want to go 8-8 year after year. Manziel is the wildcard, he's classic boom or bust and most of us draftaholics question his durability. Derek Carr has the pedigree, some size, and the confidence, At 26 I think it's a reasonable gamble, or in the 20's in general. You know darn well Hoodie will want to trade out of 29. I think it depends on which TE is still on the board, at least 4-5 teams need a TE including the Jets and Packers.

My answer is sort of tangent, because well I just don't rate QB's very well, unless I know they will suck, example Jimmy Clausen and Matt Barkley. I saw that miles before the likes of Kiper started his over the top incorrect analysis. So here is what I know.

David Fales cannot make all the throws, weak arm.
Tajh Boyd doesn't read defenses as well as you'd like. I see a 3rd string backup that doesn't dress often.
    Garappolo didn't face elite competition.
Zach Mettenberger was injured, but where did he lead LSU when healthy with WR and RB weapons a few pro teams would die for.
Connor Shaw, Taylor Martinez- NO THANKS.
Keith Price- bring him in, solid kid, hard worker, won a lot of games in the PAC 12.
AJ McCarren- see above, he will be mediocre in the NFL, my best guess, maybe Christian Ponder-esqe.
Blake Bortels- not a finished project, not a lot of film on him because he didn't have the starts these other guys did. However you can almost see the clay being shaped and molded game by game as he keeps improving. Needs NFL coaching.
Bryn Renner & Brett Smith late round or undrafted Sleepers I would bring in
Logan Thomas- boom or bust, needs development, but what a chunk of marble you have to work with.

    Bites,

What about the Savage kid from Pitt? For some reason he's getting a lot of press lately.

Benjamin isn't a WR at all. He is a TE. Consider he is already 240-245lbs. What do you want him on.. 500-1000 calories a day?

Benjamin is a player more comfortable at 255 lbs than 230 lbs.

  11. nybites M.V.P. Steelers UCONN

I got him in round 4 I think You don't go from 6-7th to the second round overnight something was withheld , discovered. Leaked, or it's a smoke show. JMFO

  12. nybites M.V.P. Steelers UCONN

Funny the opposite was true of Marquis Colston he was more comfortable in the 230's.

Allen Robinson will be the pick @ 46 unless the Lions swipe him.

  13. demolisher43 Franchise Player Steelers

    Or anyone else.

Robinson could go as early as the 20s, I think.

  14. Quew....thats pretty funny....Benjamin is more of a TE...if he comes to Pitt and people were happy w the yrs Plax put up during his time here...Im going out on a limb and saying KB will b more productive.

It could be smoke screen but when you have the number 1 you dont have to really do that but more and more it seems they are going defense with this pick with rumor now coming that it will be Mack over Clowney

  16. As we get closer to the draft, I feel like a corner in the 1st round is almost a forgone conclusion. They have met with all of the top corner prospects, as well as some mid-rounders, and ranked them accordingly. Sure, they have also met with several WR's too, but the fact that they keep looking at Corners means, to me, they are going to get a corner in round 1. A lot of teams get cute with who they are looking at, trying to keep it under wraps and bring in guys they really don't want to throw everyone off, but that seems like an absolute waste of time and energy and not the way the Steelers do business.

Calling it now - Dennard or Gilbert with #15.

  17. nybites M.V.P. Steelers UCONN

It's hard to imagine that you really don't know by now, who your pick is. I mean it's not like you have to see where the cards fall. They had time to interview Mack, Clowney, and Asswipe at the Combine. I said it a while back, Kahlil Mack will be the best Defensive Player taken in this draft if you weigh out years played and production. Clowney and Azzhat are more splashy, maybe more of an audience draw. But you are trying to build your team, you don't want to guess wrong at 1 and eat that contract.

Bortles will be taken in the top 10, where I really don't know. Carr will fall later in the round, thinking 20's. If the Texans took Clowney or Mack then came back for Bridgewater at 33, I could buy into that. I personally think at 33 Morgan Moses is a value pick and all the OT's that could potentially start on the left side will be gone once Moses parts the red sea.

I am looking at Charlie Campbell's mock, came out yesterday. I have some issues with it, namely Shane Skov. Slow and not athletic enough for me. I understand you just signed Mike Boom Boom Mitchell, however...... taken 2 spots later is Terrance Brooks, S, Florida State. I am telling you I am really sold on this kid, he brings it. He also has ball skills and a nose for the football. The explanation for the pick: Steelers need LB help. Does anyone look at rosters, if anything it's DL and CB that are hurting. In round 4 he has PIttsburgh taking Bruce Ellington? IN so they would pass on DaQuan Jones, Yawin Smallwood, Pierre Dessir, Andre Williams, and Dakota Dozier. Round 1 taking Bradley Roby over Darqueze Dennard, Calvin Pryor, Kyle Fuller. Round 2 is Allen Robinson, I can only hope he lasts. Round 5, again, just throwing darts at a big board doesn't work. Jeff Pagin DL. Alabama, over Will Clarke, Andre Hal, and Trai Turner. WT/F Then the comp pick, oh it gets worse: Matt Pachen, OT, Boston College "The Steelers could use some OL versatile depth" Jesus H. Christ, REALLY?? Have you ever heard of Kelvin Beachum, who can play any spot on the OL ??? Class this [del]missed whiffed.[/del] oh forget it, no clucking foo.

Them moving back the draft really pisses me off. I look forward to receiving a birthday present every year because the draft always falls on my birthday somewhere, whether it is day one or day 3. It would have been day 3 this year. Turning the big 50
