Interesting, I just read a stock down report and Benjamin was on it *WALL*

  2. I always trust myself....these other guys just want stories and controversy

  3. On the subject of tall receivers, what is everyone's opinion on Brandon Coleman? Dude is huge at 6'6" but I'm not a fan. Not physical, bad route runner, slow acceleration and gets knocked off balance too easily. Showed he can make the big play in college (22 YPC average) but he always seemed to be underwhelming.

  4. demolisher43 Franchise Player Steelers

Possibly worth it late. I'd be fine with picking him in round 6 or 7. The Steelers may not actually be terribly interested in an early-round receiver.

  5. The guy I would really like to see in Pittsburgh is......

This guy is strong, quick as a cat, instinctive, has 4 legit pro pass rush moves. So his arms are 1.5 inches shorter than most D linemen, and he is only 6' 1 inches tall. I know a football player when I see one, and passing on this guy based on height, weight, or scheme is simply not smart. It was one thing to develop a scheme and draft accordingly prior to free agency and the salary cap, but now, as you can see, your team can look completely different within 2 years. Couple that with the flavor of the week offenses like run and shoot, wildcat, spread, and read option AND the silly annual rules changes to prevent defenses from succeeding. If you can't be flexible with your schemes then you can't be an NFL coach. If I am Pittsburgh Steelers GM and/or coach and Clowney, Gilbert, Watkins, and Evans are gone, I take this kid over everyone else in the draft. Similar players - Danny White, Geno Atkins, John Randall, Jack Youngblood, Dwight Freeney, Elvis Dummerville and Jarred Allen. To a man, 3-4, 4-3, nickle, dime, or amoeba defense, these guys are nearly un-blockable one on one, and tough to double. I'll take that any day. Pressure is more important than secondary coverage. Ask Peyton Manning and Tom Brady why they lost the majority of regular season games, playoff games or superbowls, and they will tell you that pressure from the defense disrupted their offense more than any schemes in the defensive secondary. I promise that if the Steelers can find a way to pressure QB's next year, pick up a 2nd or 3rd round CB and WR, everything will fall into place. If we draft a top corner, and have no pressure like last year, our defense will once again be mediocre. A top wide receiver in this draft after Watkins, Evans, and even Beckham, isn't going to produce much more than Saunders or Cotchery did last year, and I feel that Wheaton will step in and offer that. I am all in on best player available, and if it's Donald, we have to take him.

Since you really didn't mention the guy by name eggs-cept "Donald" I assume you are talking about Aaron Donald from Pitt and not Donald Duck... I think he goes to NY Giants and will be off the table..

    enjoy,

    one of the idiots

  7. beachbum Legend Manager Steelers

If you draft Aaron Donald and turn him into a two-gap player you are stripping him of everything that makes him a great player. He's all about first step quickness and penetrating - basically the exact opposite of what we ask our d-linemen to do. That's why Ziggy Hood is a Titan. At 6'2" with average arm length he was being controlled by o-linemen instead of the other way around. Playing the 5 technique is about length, keeping o-linemen off your pads with good arm extension and you don't scrap a scheme that has experienced the success the Steelers have had because you like a particular player.

  8. steelersking M.V.P. Steelers

Ziggy Hood is a Jaguar isn't he?

Dennard would be a better fit in the Steelers Defense than Donald would...they are in much bigger need of a corner.

  9. beachbum Legend Manager Steelers

You're right. Was thinking Al Woods I guess.

I'm the GM for the Steelers in the second unofficial collab mock draft.

If anyone wants to PM me thoughts on who I should pick, lists of players to look at, etc., I'd love to pick your brains.

  16. demolisher43 Franchise Player Steelers

I kind of hope the Bengals try to draft Ford. He won't realize his full potential in an NFL 4-3. He would serve the Eagles better at 22, and Ealy, a 4-3 DE, would serve the Bengals better at 24. That's not a criticism of you, because these NFL teams are liable to blow their first pick anyway.

The Titans won't be interested in Donald if they're running a two-gap 3-4. Move Anthony Barr up to their pick and you have a winner, IMO.

I think Brandin Cooks will be picked well ahead of 26. Again, that's just my opinion.

Finally got to publish my mock, 7 full rounds. I'm under nybites as a contributor.

Nice work! - If it's me picking and Lewan is still on the board as he is in your draft - I'd take him at #15. I think the CB spot is deeper thru the draft and after about the middle of the 2nd round the OT is going over the cliff... talent wise.. I'm not wild about either M.Adams or "Oh my Leg" Gillbert.. Also the WR class is deep. just my opinion - I'd go Lewan

    enjoy,

    one of the idiots
