I gave round 6 done & a third if the way through round 7 stay tuned &'will
Post my mock in the next few days. We're just over 4 weeks until
The main event, can we pit together a big board as a team or am I stuck again like last year ?

  2. burghball Guest

let's team it.. I had OG, OC,OT listed out..... a few pages ago.. and there were folks assigned to positions back a few more..

Time to get started.. Who is good with Word? or Xl? or what ever it's called - I think Beach?

    enjoy,

    one of the idiots

  3. My second attempt

    1. Houston Texans-Blake Bortles, QB UCF
Owner Bob McNair really seems to like Jadaveon Clowney, however I think the Texans and head coach Bill O?Brein opt to take their new franchise quarterback. Bortles fits what O?Brein looks for in a quarterback and it will be interesting to see how Bortles develops under O?Brein. A franchise quarterback may be all the Texans need to bounce back as a playoff contender.

    2. Atlanta Falcons-Jadaveon Clowney, DE South Carolina
Trade! The Falcons address their biggest need with perhaps the best pass rusher in a decade. The Falcons are no strangers to moving up in the draft (Julio Jones) and what better time than now for them to do so.

    3. Jacksonville Jaguars-Teddy Bridgewater, QB Louisville
I?m not sure Jacksonville can justify not picking up a franchise quarterback any longer and Bridgewater fits the bill. He could step in immediately and re-energize a franchise that needs a spark in the worst way. I could see them going with Khalil Mack to help a dismal pass rush, however they simply cannot put off getting a quarterback any longer.

    4. Cleveland Browns-Sammy Watkins, WR Clemson
If Michael Lombardi was still in charge I would say Johnny Manziel would be a slam dunk here, however with a second 1st rounder they may wait to address the quarterback position later in the first or in the quarterback heavy 2015 draft. Sammy Watkins is not only the best player available here and would give the Browns a dangerous duo between him and Josh Gordon, but the Browns have very little behind Gordon.

    5. Oakland Raiders-Greg Robinson, OT Auburn
The whole gaffe with Roger Saffold may have tipped the Raider?s hand. Greg Robinson would fill the need at left tackle and could be their blindside protector for the next decade. They lost Jared Veldheer to the Arizona Cardinals and could use Robinson to help keep Matt Schaub upright

    6. St. Louis-Jake Matthews, OT Texas A&M
The Rams will need a new blindside protector with Jake Long?s return to 2014 in question after an ACL injury and Sam Bradford?s extensive injury history. Jake Matthews, who was once the consensus #1 tackle, is good value here for the Rams and could anchor their offensive line for years to come.

    7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Khalil Mack, OLB/DE Buffalo
Quarterback could make sense here, however after recently signing Josh McCown and with Mike Glennon showing some signs of promise last year it is likely they opt to go elsewhere. Head coach Lovie Smith is a defensive-first guy and the Buccaneers could use another pass rusher off the edge. Mack would be a steal here after a huge combine and could be a contributor from day one.

    8. Minnesota Vikings-Derek Carr, QB Fresno State
The Vikings and their fans would be thrilled to see Bridgewater available when they pick, though that does not seem likely. Derek Carr is a bit of a curve ball pick here with Manziel still on the board, but the Vikings have shown a ton of interest in the Fresno State product. Their quarterback carousel between Matt Cassel, Josh Freeman and Christian Ponder last season was disastrous and the team has not had any long-term stability here since Daunte Culpepper. Cassel did re-sign with the team, however he is better suited to be a backup.

    9. Buffalo Bills-Taylor Lewan, OT Michigan
Mike Evans is a possibility here, however with the deep wide receiver class it would make sense if the Bills decided to wait on a receiver. Given Doug Marrone?s background as an offensive lineman and line coach coupled with the need to protect EJ Manuel?s blindside this could be a fit for Lewan. Eric Pears struggled last year and Manuel struggled to stay healthy last year, so it would make sense for Buffalo to protect their investment at quarterback with Lewan.

    10. Detroit Lions-Justin Gilbert, CB Oklahoma State
A big question before free agency started would be whether or not the Lions would go wide receiver or corner with their 1st round pick. However after locking up former Seahawks receiver Golden Tate, Detroit opts to fill their hole at corner back. Gilbert is considered by many to be the #1 corner in the draft and would give the Lions immediate help at the position.

    11. Tennessee Titans-Anthony Barr, OLB UCLA
With the switch to a new 3-4 defense, the Titans will be in the market for a good pass rusher. Barr offers both that and good value at this spot and can take some blockers away from Derrick Morgan or Jurrell Casey.

    12. New York Giants-Eric Ebron, TE North Carolina
The Giants could use a good security blanket for Eli Manning if they do not want him to repeat his disaster of a season last year. Ebron is on the rise and has been linked to the Giants. Manning relied heavily on Jake Ballard when they won the Super Bowl in 2011 and Ebron could be his next safety valve.

    13. St. Louis Rams-Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, FS Alabama
Mike Evans would make sense here, however Jeff Fisher is never shy about adding defensive play makers and the team could use some in the secondary. Free safety is one of the Ram?s biggest needs and Clinton-Dix just happens to be the top guy at his position and fits around this area of the draft.

    14. Chicago Bears-Aaron Donald, DT Pitt
The Bears could go a number of ways on defense. Chicago may riot if Chris Conte starts another game at safety, however Aaron Donald is too good to pass up in this instance. Donald?s stock skyrocketed after a great combine performance and would be a day one starter for the Bears.

    15. Pittsburgh Steelers-Darqueze Dennard
Dennard is a perfect fit for the Steelers, who are much in need of a couple of physical corners. Ike Taylor is likely entering his final year with the team and the Steelers will need someone to pair across from Cortez Allen. They have shown interest in Dennard and he would fit well in Dick Lebeau?s defense.

    16. Dallas Cowboys-Mike Evans, WR Texas A&M
The logical pick is Timmy Jernigan, as he would be a perfect plug and play defensive tackle for Dallas. However, this is Jerry Jones running the show and time and time again he has proven he will go with the guy that will give his team publicity and overall pizzazz. Evans is a playmaker who could stretch the field and help take pressure of Dez Bryant, which is exactly the type of player Jerry covets. Evans is also a local product and Jerry does not shy from adding those.

    17. Baltimore Ravens-Calvin Pryor, FS Louisville
The Ravens have a need for a free safety and Pryor teamed with Matt Elam would give the Ravens a formidable safety tandem for years to come. Calvin Pryor is a physical safety that the Ravens would love and is also a rangy safety that covers a ton of ground, which could bring back memories of the Ed Reed days.

    18. New York Jets-Marqise Lee, WR USC
Another easy pick to project. Even with the signing of Eric Decker the Jets still need to give weapons to Geno Smith in order for him to succeed. The team also seems to be interested in him after having a private workout with Lee after his pro day. Geno Smith was anywhere between promising and awful last year thanks in no small part to a bad supporting cast. With Lee and Decker in the fold, it should become more clear whether or not his struggles was due to his receivers or his own ability.

    19. Miami Dolphins-Zack Martin, OT/OG Notre Dame
After the whole Richie Incognito-Jonathan Martin fiasco last season, the Dolphins will be searching for some new lineman to help keep Ryan Tannehill upright. They added Brandon Albert to replace Jonathan Martin and Zack Martin is skilled enough to be a stud guard. He is also a high character player, which the Dolphins could find attractive after the aforementioned bullying scandal.

    20. Arizona Cardinals-Timmy Jernigan, DT Florida State
Darnell Dockett was once teammates with Emmitt Smith on the Cardinals, in other words he is no spring chicken. Jernigan either could redshirt a year before being Dockett?s replacement after 2014 or could afford the Cardinals to move on from Dockett?s big contract before the year starts.

    21. Green Bay Packers-CJ Mosley, ILB Alabama
The Packers add another play maker on a team that could certainly use one. Mosley could step in and start from day one in Dom Capers?s defense and could be their leader for the next decade. He provides a stalworth in the middle of a defense that could use the leadership.

    22. Philadelphia Eagles-Kyle Fuller, CB Virginia Tech
Fuller has been on the rise since the end of a very good 2013 season and just happens to fit the Eagles? biggest need. Even with signing Malcolm Jenkins their secondary still needs work. Cary Williams and Brandon Botykins are not bad starters, however the team has no depth behind them, which is a must have in today?s pass happy NFL.

    23. Kansas City Chiefs-Kelvin Benjamin, WR Florida State
Free agency has not been kind to the Chiefs and this pick could go a number of different ways for them. However, Kelvin Benjamin is the type of player that could help take their offense to the next level. He is a tall receiver that allows them to stretch the field, which they did not have a lot of success with in 2013. Dexter McCluster also happened to leave for Tennessee, so they could use another receiver.

    24. Cincinnati Bengals-Dee Ford, DE Auburn
A corner like Jason Verrett is an option here, however after just having lost Michael Johnson to the Buccaneers the team could look to find his replacement. Ford is a fast rising prospect after a strong Senior Bowl and pro day that has a knack for rushing the passer. Him teamed with Carlos Dunlap could give the Bengals two forceful pass rushers off the end.

    25. San Diego-Louis Nix III, NT Notre Dame
The Chargers need defensive lineman at all positions, however after ranking 29th in rush defense in 2013 a nose tackle that can clog the middle may be the biggest area of need. Nix is a big and athletic nose tackle that will force double teams. Kony Ealy is a consideration, however with the team giving Dwight Freeney a paycut it seems like they are going to go with him as a starter in 2014.

    26. Cleveland Browns-Johnny Manziel, QB Texas A&M

History has a way of repeating itself, just as the Browns passed on Brady Quinn in 2007 just to get him later in the 1st round the Browns do the same with Johnny Manziel. Cleveland purged their roster of quarterbacks and Brian Hoyer has not shown enough to warrant passing on Manziel, who immediately becomes the face of a starved franchise

    27. New Orleans Saints-Kony Ealy, DE/OLB Missouri
Ealy provides great value to the Saints at 27 as they continue to re-tool their defense. The defense showed a noticable improvement in 2013 but could still use another pass rusher and Ealy offers just that. Victor Butler is a question mark after a torn ACL and having another quality pass rusher in the pass happy NFC South could never hurt.

    28. Carolina Panthers-Odell Beckham, WR LSU
The Panthers lost their their top three wide receivers in 2013 to other teams and have only added Jerricho Cotchery. With such a deep draft class at receiver this could be a position that is double-dipped at. Beckham is a rising prospect that could immediately help out Cam Newton, especially as a speed receiver out of the slot.

    29. New England Patriots-Ra?Shade Hageman, DE/DT Minnesota
Hageman has drawn comparisons to Patriot great Richard Seymour as a dominant inside presence on the defensive line. He instantly makes a team that was one of the worst against the run last year better and can play NT or DE. He could start at DE and move inside down the road if the Patriots and Wilfork have any future tensions.

    30. San Francisco 49ers-Jason Verrett, CB TCU
Carlos Rogers was just cut by the 49ers, but corner may have been a big need even if he was not. Tarrell Brown and Chris Cook are not bad players, however they could still stand to add more bodies to the position. Verrett may be undersized, however he is a physical player that plays bigger than his measurables and would fit right in with a physical 49er defense.

    31. Denver Broncos-Marcus Robinson, CB Florida
Even with the addition of Aqib Talib, the Broncos still need have a need at corner. Gone are Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Champ Bailey while Quentin Jammer, who was already declining, will be 35 in July. Robinson would give the Broncos a fresh young body in the secondary that could end up being a quality starter across from Talib.

    32. Seattle Seahawks-Brandin Cooks, WR Oregon State
Seattle does not have a lot of needs, but wide receiver is a position that can use an upgrade. Golden Tate left to Detroit, Sidney Rice was released and Percy Harvin?s health is unreliable. Cooks is a great value pick for the Seahawks here and would give Russell Wilson a speedy playmaker.

    4 reaches. I don't see it.

  8. nybites M.V.P. Steelers UCONN

2 of my list of 4 just went.

    Gilbert and Barr.

Leaves me a few choices. And Lewan just went to the Giants at 12.

Rams desperately need a FS, hopefully whoever has them is on the ball.

Pittsburgh selects Darqueze Dennard, CB, Michigan State.

  10. LoveTheSteelers Franchise Player Steelers

Just looked at a list of Steeler prospect contacts on SB Nation - http://www.behindthesteelcurtain.co...14-nfl-draft-steelers-prospects-meetings-list

We know that the Steelers often draft players they have brought in for visits. Also interesting is how many contacts they make.

Darqueze Dennard was seen at his Pro Day, and was in for a visit
Justin Gilbert - Combine and Pro Day
Kelvin Benjamin - Combine, Pro Day
Mike Evans - Combine, Pro Day
    Donte Moncrief - Combine, visit
Kareem Martin - Combine, Pro Day
Louis Nix III - Combine, Pro Day
Stephon Tuitt - Combine, Pro Day, visit
    Calvin Pryor - Combine, visit
Eric Ebron - Combine, Pro Day

I think there may be a clear indication of who they are looking at in rounds 1-2. Tuitt may be a lock in the second round if he is still on the board, simply because they are watching him so closely. It also shows that they are open to several different positions in round 1. I love their free agent signings even more now that I see the freedom they have in choosing their first pick.

That would have been +100 if possible!

  12. Baramay Guest

I guess I am in the minority, I don't think Dennard fits the Steelers defense. He plays press or press bail over 55% of the time. At the combine he did not show a good backpedal and Mayock said he is a press guy and that is how you will need to use him until he develops in off coverage. I think Fuller fits the Steelers best but he might be a slight reach at 15.

  13. LoveTheSteelers Franchise Player Steelers

Dennard did what was asked of him and what best helped his team. Yes, it will take time for him to learn the Steelers' system, but he is capable of playing in any system. I like Fuller too but I think Dennard is a play maker.

  14. manosteel9423 Franchise Player Steelers

Baramay...I agree that Dennard is a press/press bail CB and that hasn't been the Steelers MO in recent years. However, it wouldn't surprise me to see them take Dennard for that very reason. The way to beat the elite QBs of today is to play that type of coverage. Playing the softer zones that the Steelers like in the secondary to avoid big plays is great against average QBs who can't make those quick reads and keep long drives alive with the short passing game, but it doesn't work against the Tom Brady's and Peyton Manning's of the world.

The Seattle Seahawks frustrated Manning in the SB by playing the same Cover 3 that the Steelers routinely play behind their zone blitz packages, but they had the outside CBs in press bail coverage, taking away the quick screens and slants that Manning uses to avoid those pressures, but bailing into zone coverage shortly after the snap to take away the deep plays too.

It takes a certain type of player on the outside to pull that off, which is why most teams can't do it, but with Cortez Allen and a guy like Dennard, I think the Steelers could try it. It would be a big shift in philosophy for Lebeau, but you can only ignore the results against elite QBs for so long. At some point, you have to make a change in your scheme, as long as you have the players to run it.

  15. nybites M.V.P. Steelers UCONN

I'll stand by my pick.Mosely, Gilbert , Barr,Mack, Watkins, Ebron, Martin, Lewan, Robinson , Matthews & Evans were all gone.

  16. Speaking of which I can try to get one for receivers as well. I got a little sidetracked having to write 60 some odd scouting reports for the site.

  17. LoveTheSteelers Franchise Player Steelers

Add Allen Robinson - combine, Pro Day
Daquan Jones - combine, Pro Day

  18. jcsteelfan Franchise Player Steelers

Spot on! What the Seahawks defense does in coverage is the new model for beating the elite offenses in the NFL. Dennard is the type of corner that will flourish in that coverage.

  19. nybites M.V.P. Steelers UCONN

To further extrapolate on Dennard and how press man beats dink dunk & douchebaggery, go
Back to 10/31/11 to see how Tammy got his a.ss kicked by Pittsburgh and why.

  20. nybites M.V.P. Steelers UCONN

    Two examples of beyond clueless:

Mel Kiper predicts 15. Pittsburgh -Odell Beckham Jr WR LSU

Pete Prisco predicts Clowney will be better than LT

If you combined their brains and stuffed them up a bumble bee's a.ss, it would be like a ball bearing rolling around inside of a boxcar
