I just read the Eagles might be looking to trade up for Evans WR. Trade back for a 2nd and give them a 4th and 6th/7th? Shazier or Haggeman in the 1st. Then Tuitt or Van Noy in the 2nd followed by Moncrief with the Eagles 2nd. I would feel very good about that start. Then Gaines at 97th, I would Costanza it after day 2, "Thank you very much" and leave the draft.

Just the other day bb was talking about he would like to see the Steelers get receivers with "more size". That is similar to a personal comment made to him by Mrs. bb.

I like Desir and Cockrell over EJ Gaines. are you talking about Phillip Gaines out if Rice? my sleeper CB is out of a Liberty. .Walt Aikens. Also Evans to the Lions @ 10 is a strong possibility

E J Gaines Missouri, he was avoided this year after being a preseason All Sec CB. I still want to look at Evans game prior to Missouri and after to see if he might have been injured. I also like Cockrell, Desir is a bit more raw, with upside. I have not seen anything to like from any Florida CB, besides they play press and have a strong pass rush. The two best guys in the secondary might still be at Florida. To me Gaines fits the Steelers defensive scheme. Fuller CB is also a possibilty at 22, he only had 3 receptions against him of 11+ yards on 23 targets. I have him rated over Dennard.

The reason for not taking a CB higher is the focus on the front 7 over CB, that is what the Steelers seem to do, because that works best in a 3-4 defense. (see 49ers)

Is there a consensus on who is the #3 ranked WR? I have seen different players on different websites in that spot. Are any of them worthy of the 15th pick?

  8. Yes Benjamin....just watch

No. Take the best player at their position not the 3rd best middle first. This does not apt to QB or LT obviously

Marquis Lee has been for a while. Then the consensus on the next 3 are Beckum, Benjamin, and Cooks.

QB - yeah - LT - If Zack Martin is still on the board he may (that's may) be the BPA at #15 and I wouldn't have an issue with that pic considering he is position flexible and we have 2 turds in Adams and "Oh my leg" Gilbert.

There will be someone good at our pick available. We will probably be surprised by the value we get at 15.

  13. I have to disagree, only because I REALLY only see the Steelers going one of two ways in the first round. CB MUST be the top priority, with Dennard and Gilbert/Fuller (whoever the Steelers have higher) being the first two choices and Mike Evans being 3rd in line. If the Steelers don't get ANY of those guys, they will probably be inclined to trade back with an itchy team that has fallen in love with one of the leftover "top-tier" guys. This draft is PACKED with talent, but that doesn't mean that every team will make smart decisions (see: Browns, Raiders, Vikings, Redskins) and Pittsburgh can certainly pounce on that opportunity.

Honestly, though, I don't see them drafting ANY o-lineman in this draft before round 6 (unless they somehow compile a bunch of picks) just because they already have 8 guys on the roster. I also think they are going to give Adams and Gilbert a year with a legit O-line coach to see if that is the deciding factor before moving on from them.

Personnel-wise (and based upon what they have done in FA), I see them going after the following positions in the draft: CB (2), WR, TE, OLB (2), speedy RB, DE (depth/eventual starter), NT (depth), Punter. This is ideal, but I wouldn't be surprised if they switched out one of the D-lineman for an O-lineman. These are the MAIN positions they need depth in and I'm sure they will find the guys to make this work.

  14. What is more important to the CB position w Pitt....physical play or coverage skills...example Deion Sanders vs Rod Woodson...who fits the mold of their defense....I always thought it was the physical play....if so Dennard is their guy 1st 5 picks.

    1. Dennard DB
    2. J. Matthews WR
    3. J. Bitonio OL
    4. J. Ellis NT
    5. E. Stinson DE

We don't need oline but if a stud is there at 15 you still draft them . Highly unlikely that one is there, but you never know. The last 2 years in a row we have had the best player at that position fall to us because other teams reach for need instead of quality.

That looks good to me - I could live with that draft.. Another NT to watch is the kid from Delaware - Zach Kerr

  17. Buffalo just traded for Mike Williams from TB....this may cause a trickle down effect for M. Evans but also may help w their decision 2 draft a CB.

  18. I don't think this automatically pushes them to Mike Evans, but it certainly would not be a surprise. They could use some O-line help, pass-rushers, MAYBE a QB, and some WR talent, so they could go a variety of ways at #7. Truthfully, if Khalil Mack AND Sammy Watkins are on the board, I wouldn't want to be the one that makes that decision. Keep in mind they still have Vincent Jackson, a tall AND fast receiver similar to Evans. Having a shiftier route-runner may be the way they go.

Even as exciting as Evans is, I would be VERY surprised if Colbert had a choice between Dennard and Evans and chose the latter. If it happens, I am okay with it and TOTALLY understand why they would go that route, but don't feel it would be a very likely scenario. Evans will create match-up issues, but having a potential shut-down corner will be MUCH more valuable than a pretty good receiver (see: Seahawks vs. Broncos).

    I wouldn't. Watkins!

  20. Sorry for the confusion...I was addressing the Bills needs now that they acquired Williams....they may go CB now that WR isnt a big need...I thought Evans was a good fit in Buff but now they can go in a different direction...would they b interested in Gilbert or Dennard?
