That was kind of my thought as well. Could fetch some nice picks for him too.

I hope Johnny Douchebag has a killer pro day and some team blindly charges in. He's an exciting college athlete who is going to face players with a different speed. It could get ugly and ill just lump him I'm there with other Kiper misses(the list is growing)

I would say Clownet goes #1 overall if they think JJ Watt can teach him how to be a year round
D player & put the time in. After tradu
Ing Schaub I think they're sold on Bortles, that is who I would take. Flashback to 2006 and Casserly passing on Young & Bush. My feeling is that you take Bortles, Moses, & a passer rusher top of the third or later. QB & OT are going to fly off the board, but the depth at DE and this entire draft will allow them to pick from a pretty deep pool. I think the DE from WVU Will Clarke is a guy you can grab in the fourth round.

Just read an article that quotes Mark Cuban saying the NFL will implode in the next 10 years? Didn't say what his reasoning was. But imo, the NBA will implode in the next 10 years. They are losing tele ratings every year to the supposedly lowly NHL...I think the NFL has to be careful of all their new rules. Many people don't like em.....

    NBA = Boring!

NBA sucks because 1 player can carry a team on his back and win a championship. Teams that show class like the Spurs are non existent .

  5. Smurph Guest

The problem with the NBA is not that it's boring. It is that the "salary cap" is a complete joke, allowing 4 or 5 teams to accumulate all the best players. I am glad to see the Pacers crash the party this year against all the "dynasty" cities.

Mark Cuban is just a rich little Dick. The NBA stands for Nothing but Azzholes. You get a bowl game between East Jabru State & North Bumphuc Univetsity and it will get higher ratings than some lame basketball game on Christmas. The NFL owns Thanksgiving and douche.bags like Cuban are trying to replicate that success on a similar Holiday. Pfffffffft not happening .let me ask any sports dan when the draft is and I will guaranfreikingtee they assume I am asking about the NFL draft. I have NFC when any other draft is and I could give a frog's fat Azz if it's televised or not.

If the NFL falls the NBA will have already crashed and burned. The NFL has a hard cap that ensures a competitive league! The NBA has free agency rules coupled with a soft cap that allowed the Celtics, Lakers, and Heat to build super teams.

    Keep dreaming Mark Cuban!

  8. I think this would be a dreamy draft for the Steelers;

    Steelers draft

Donald or hageman #1 - chance to draft back

2nd round dee ford - for outside linebacker depth and special teams

    First pick round 3

Keith Mcgill CB utah or jean baptiste CB Nebraska - either one

    Comp pick 3

Donte moncreif WR ole miss or martavious Bryant Clemson WR - both big targets

    Round 4

Donte Johnson N.C. State CB - will end up being better than CB pittsburgh selected earlier

    Comp round 4

Dri archer - splash 3rd down player/ special teamer

    Round 5
James hurst OT North Carolina - this guy can start in two or three years

    Round 6
Ryan carrethers ark. State NT - serious 3-4 NT, possibly right now

    Round 6 comp
Kent state ILB Roosevelt Nix - college D lineman who moved to inside LB for a invitation game, has serious 3-4 ILB potential, and school pedigree

    Round 7

Larry Webster Bloomburg OLB project with a lot of upside potential. Could see him making the transition to tight end if speed rusher doesn't work. Former basketball guy.

Don't want to rain on your parade but Pittsburgh traded away this years .3rd pick to Cleveland. Also Aaron Donald is a DT in a 4-3 I don't see a fit. Dee Ford may note make it out of the first round. I
Like Moncrief but falling to. 97 would be a miracle, stranger things have happened . I also
Like Carrethers but Hurst will be snapped up by a team desperate for OL
help, earlier than you think, he had a real
Good showing vs. Clowney . Dri Archer is a luxury pick I would prefer they go with someone like James White or Kevin Norwood . They have a small speedy guy already, Kashif Moore.

  10. I really think, the the Moats signing, the Steelers pretty much put the kabash on drafting Mosley. I have no doubt they will draft an ILB, but not in the first three rounds. At this point, I think the 1st round pick would be Dennard, Gilbert, Evans, or trade back. If all three of those guys are gone, this draft went nuts and there will be a QB or someone valuable the Steelers don't need that will fall and they can find a trading partner. Cleveland has 10 picks or so and a bunch of holes, so I wouldn't be surprised to see them make a play.

Did you guys read this over on Steelersdepot, not sure how much of this is true, they wouldn't be putting this much effort into a smoke screen would they?

    http://www.steelersdepot.com/2014/0...a-lot-of-research-on-michigan-t-taylor-lewan/

I know he had a good combine and pro day, and I understand Gilberts contract is going to be up at the end of the year, why not prepare yourself for that a year ahead.

I didn't like to hear about the possible jail time at all.

    Roc,

My opinion.. regardless of the off-field stuff.. I'm not that wild about Lewan. I watched several U.Michigan games this year and you can see his un-discipline issues in his playing.. He also got overpowered some.. Yeah - He looked real good at the glorified track meet (NFL Combine) but for me - if he is there at #15 - I'd take a pass.. and as the article states - maybe the Steelers were more interested in Schofield - who would be a much safer pick later in the draft. Lewan carries way too much risk (without the off field issues) for me..

    enjoy,

  13. burghball Guest

To add... I'd be much more comfortable with a player like Zack Martin OT/OG from Notre Dame than Lewan at #15.. Z.Martin is position Flexible who had a real good senior bowl vs the better competition. Do I think they will draft Oline first round? no.. I think at this point it will be CB or WR.. leaning toward CB unless both the top guys are off the board.

  14. I was assuming that moving back in round 1 would land us a 3rd pick

  15. I also think that Donald is being typecast as a 4-3 guy. He moved all over Pitt's line, and it didn't matter where he lined up, he put up numbers. Now, I'm not naive, but some players, like Donald, overcome the "typical" prototype position standards. There isn't a more decorated player in the draft, period! If his tape isn't enough, look to the senior bowl where dominated soon to be NFL linemen. If that's not enough, look at his combine, his numbers were better than even many of the outside linebackers let alone the defensive ends and D- tackles.

I would take him in a heartbeat at 15, steelers ran a four down linemen sub package last year over 60% of the time anyways. If a guy like this can create serious pressure 1 out of every three downs, corner becomes much less important, see Dick LeBeau philosophy, and how Pittsburgh has won superbowls. Didn't win any with Woodson, and I have a hard time seeing denard or Gilbert living up to those expectations. I believe Dee Ford will be there at 47. What we will probably see is the QBs not go as high in the first round, but the action picks up in the second round, which will bring Garopolo into the mix with McCarron, which will slip Ford two spots, fortunately to Pittsburgh. After that, Hurst is a bit of a pipe dream but it would be really great if he also fell. Do you have a 7 round idea of what might work?

When he gets rolled over defending the run in the NFL, your accolades will be buffered.

    What, I just...what? Proof?

Looked to me we ran 2 down linemen a lot - with McLendon not in the game... see the new NFL passing league...

Remember the punter from Auburn. Steven Clarke. His propensity to have punts inside the 5-10 yard line is well worth a 6th round comp
Pick. When he's in the NFL I think he'll be a weapon. Two things to remember about close wins and losses and the factors that influence outcomes. Turnovers and Field position .

I know some of you are really high on Ebron at 15, but I've always been kind of sceptacle of him, seems like his ego is way too big and is already affecting him.
    -----------------------------

So, are you one of several people hoping the Pittsburgh Steelers draft North Carolina tight end Eric Ebron in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft? If you are, you might want to close your browser right now.

According to Tony Pauline of draftinsider.net, Ebron's Tuesday Pro Day didn't go so well. Pauline goes on to say that the 6'4" tight end dropped a number of passes during the day and looked poor in drills to boot.

Unless Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert changed his schedule, he was present to see Ebron poor showing firsthand.

While Ebron might very well be drafted somewhere in the first round come May, 15th overall appears to be too high for him. While he can function as an in-line blocker, he has a lot of room for improvement in that area. In addition, it appears as though he could use some improvement as a pass catcher as well.

During his college career, Ebron registered 112 catches for 1,805 yards and eight touchdowns.

Told Eric Ebron/TE/North Carolina did not look good at pro-day...dropped a number of passes and generally looked poor in drills..

I think the Steelers are going to pass on this guy.
