"Logan Thomas QB VATech - can't throw the ball in ocean... but how sweet he may (that's may) look at TE.. Kid is 6'6", can run, can he catch? I think this may be a better spot for him in the NFL instead of QB... thoughts?"

I posted that to a friend of mine on facebook yesterday - a kid that likes to talk draft living on the west coast....

I think Logan wants to play QB but he sucks... any thoughts on him making that conversion to TE? Not sure how hard that would be....

I like Logan Thomas. Granted he has a ton of bad tape.... (understatement)
I just think he should be nowhere near starting on the next level, as a backup to a good QB, and a team full of QB coaches he could be a good backup. He has some special things that no other QB has in this draft. In a couple years he might develop in a good pinch starter. For my team I like him quite a bit.

Just because kids are 6th rounders or UDFAs doesn't mean they sneaked by GMs. I figure after the 4th round, I'd rather be an UDFA than a drafted pick.. because than I'd pick where I thought I had the best chance of making a roster.

Don't know if this would work.......remember the QB I think his last name was Jones from Oklahoma, ran a blistering 40 for a QB, the Jaguars drafted him to become a WR, then he just became a hot mess after that. Like you said who knows if he can catch, adjust to the ball in flight, run good routes, that is way too big of a project to take on for any team.

    Roc,

I think the Jones you are talking about had major off field issues - Coke being the big one.... Kid was a mess

Matt Jones. A freak physically. 6'6", 242 lbs and ran a 4.37 40 at the combine! That was the first year that nybites and burghball and myself were really in to all this draft stuff and I remember really wanting the Steelers to take a flyer on him. So glad that the Jags took the flyer instead! His career was a debacle thanks to substance abuse issues. According to his bio, he's a radio personality now, so hopefully he's cleaned himself up.

    Manook,

First - congrats on the Hockey Gold to canada!..

Second - was it you that mentioned the kid from Saginaw? Jeff Janis? Like what I saw from him.. as a 3rd(comp) or 4th round pick...

For those doing mocks: The a Patriots inteviwed Jenkins, Ammaro , Fiedorowicz, & Niklas. TE is their target. They also spoke to Ryan Shazier per Walter Football

Thanks, you know that hockey is a big deal in Canada because they changed the liquor laws so they could serve alcohol at 7 a.m. for the game! *DRINK*

    Big win.

As for Janis, it was me that said to keep an eye on him. I liked his combine, but I always thought he would measure well. The thing that soured me a bit on him was his Senior Bowl wasn't very good. He was virtually non-existent in the practices and the game and I was really hoping to see him step up against the tougher competition.

I think he has all the talent to be a good football player in the NFL, but I would not be interested before the 5th round at this point. There are too many more polished receivers in this draft that have similar skillsets to Janis. If we can steal him on the last day in the 6th or 7th round, I would be excited, but the 5th is the earliest I would want to take a shot on him.

I didn't notice him at the senior bowl so you're point is on the money... didn't even know he was there...

Mayock has the Colorado State center as the best in the draft, kid from Arkansas is slipping I like Gabe Jackson much more than Cyril Richardson.Mewhort blows the kid out of Nevada, Boitino, is a better prospect and goes ahead of the Buckeye.

On my end I need to drop the Gators theybwre slow and stiff st times in the drills .

  15. burghball Guest

yep - agree - I got to move The Nevada kid up - Not sure what to make of the Bama OT... since he is hurting.... but he didn't look like a 1st round prospect eventhough many have him mocked there...

Saw a top 50 list somewhere - maybe CBS - has Billy Turner OT as a top 50 pick.. I dont think so... early 3rd round at best.. Too much talent in this draft for him to slide into the 2nd.

The gator DB's were not impressive at all....

2014 NFL Drfat - Offensive Center rankings:

    Updated: 27-feb-14

Not a great class of OC's this year and I highly doubt the Steelers draft a pure OC this year. Maybe a kid that is position flexible - but only on day 3.

    Day 1: round 1

    Nobody

    Day 2: rounds 2 and 3

Weston Richburg C Colorado State -nice senior bowl and combine, I moved him up as the 1st OC off the board

Tyler Larsen C Utah State - another tweener who helped himself at the senior bowl

    Marcus Martin C USC

    These 2 - stock dropped:
    Travis Swanson C Arkansas
Bryan Stork C Florida State - I had him higher earlier - but watched their bowl game - late 3 early 4th

    Day 3:

    Possible earlier Day 3
Russell Bodine C UNC - Had a nice combine - need to see some tape - may move into the back end of round 3 - can play OG or OC

    Gabe Ikard C Oklahoma - an OC/OG

    Later Day 3:
    Jonathan Harrison C Florida
    Corey Linsley C Ohio State
    Zac Kerin C Toledo
    James Stone C UTenn
Matt Armstrong C Grand Valley State

2014 NFL draft - Offensive Guards:

    updated: 27-feb-14

    Day 1 picks

Zack Martin OG/OT ND - may be able to play all 5 spots with OG being his best chance as a pro-bowler

    Day 2 picks:

I think these 3 slide into early to mid second round:

Xavier Su'a-Filo OG UCLA - best pure OG on the board - round 2
Gabe Jackson OG MIss St - a riser, a mauler type - round 2

David Yankey OG Stanford - not impressive at the combine - stock dropped late #2 or early #3

    Round 3:
Dakota Dozier OG Furman - This kid looked good in the Shrine game
    Brandon Thomas OG Clemson

Cyril Richardson OG Baylor - Did no have a very good Senior Bowl - looked real bad vs quick first step and speed guys - one demensional power player
Anthony Steen OG Alabama - injury flag

Russell Bodine OG/OC UNC - position flexible - underclassmen

    Day 3 picks:

    Chris Watt OG ND
    Jon Halapio OG Florida
    Brandon Linder OG Miami
    Kadeem Edwards OG Tenn St
John Urchel OG Penn State - was not impressed with him - looked better at the combine than I thought he would
    Spencer Long OG Nebraska
    Ryan Groy OG Wisconsin
    Andrew Norwell OG Ohio State
Brain Clarke OG Bloomsburg - got owned by his teammate in the shrine game
    Zach Fulton OG Tenn
    Austin Wentworth OG Fresno St
    Trai Turner OG LSU

FYI. : NFL network lists T, S, CB as the biggest needs. Unless they are implying or inferring DT, they are off their game.

Don't crap a sailboat if they go RB in round 2. Given the 4.70 40 Ka'Deem Carey may be sitting there. @ 46 . *WRITE*

Any word on Delmas? I like Dione Buchannon kid @ 46 myself.

  20. burghball Guest

Sailboat? I'll crap a BATTLESHIP if we draft a RB in round 2 - you know how I feel about RB's that early... yikes...

I'm with ya with Buchannon - Like him at 46 - kid is a hitter and a ball finder...
