    @NY:

Just had to throw this out there, you saw Kam before anyone that i know off, a good year almost before he was even mentioned in the draft build up the next year, and in my estimation, he was the best defender on the pitch in that superbowl ( right there just ahead of CLiff Avril).

Hats of to that eye man. what a find.

Great call on Kam... there's a kid in this years draft that has a similar skill set.. In Fact - I was scouting Florida State early in the season for LB Christian Jones when #22 Kept flashing.. Telvin Smith - Kid is all over the place. Played a lot of OLB for the Seminoles.. But at 6'3" 218lbs.. he easily fits in as a Kam like safety... Love to see the Steelers draft this kid and make him a safety.

Telvin Smith is more Sean Spence than Kam Chancellor. Would the Steelers make Sean Spence into a safety?

I disagree with ya there Q... Sean Spence is 5'11" 231lb.. These 2(Spence and T.Smith) are completely different body types.. and yea - no way Sean Spence is safety material... but Telvin Smith just may be.. in fact I've heard draft pundits discuss that conversion. The kid is a ball hawk and very good tackler... We'll see were he ends up... he may be best suited in a 4-3 defense.

You just saw the team the AFC is going to have to measure against for the next few years or so barring any injuries.

Our Talent evaluators better raise their game, and find some diamonds, cuz that's exactly what Seattle did, found those diamonds in the later rounds that are producing.

Yeah they had a couple key trades or FA transactions through the last few years Lynch, Avril, Harvin but most of it has been through the draft.

Telvin Smith is a linebacker plain and simple. 4-3 OLB or Will, or 3-4 ILB with good NT in front of him. I recall that Larry Foote was playing at 220 with Hampton in front of him. The only way I'd even consider the risk of trying a LB at safety is with a lower round pick and Smith isn't going that low. I have him right around the spot Spence went.

Teams will be trying to copy Seattle in the draft, (larger CB, and DBs in general) will go higher than a lot of people expect. Pushing some smaller corners down..

See a Steeler 2nd round pick named Carnell Lake played LB at UCLA. He turned out pretty good at safety and is currently on staff. I'm not saying it's going to happen - but you can't rule out the possibility re T.Smith. I have heard talk( I believe during senior bowl practices see Mike Mayock and company) of the possibility. We'll see in 6 months where and to what scheme he is drafted - and after that.. what spot he ends up playing - You're probably right OLB in a 4-3 as I mentioned before also.

I could not agree more. Expect Seattle to cut Sidney Rice (7.3 mil), Miller (6 mil) and maybe Mebane (5.1 mil). That should free up money to resign Bennett and extend Thomas and maybe Sherman without having to restructure any contracts. We all know how pushing money forward puts teams in bad spots.

I think John Schneider might have catapulted himself into the top GM position.

While there is a lot to like about Smith. I have seen him going before the Steelers 4th rd pick. With the current roster I think taking him would be too much of a luxury pick. Is Thomas more of a FS or SS. I would rather see the Steelers drafting a guy who has more coverage skills for FS. Then again, they need to find out if Ike is taking a pay cut and moving to safety or not by draft time.

Jimmie Ward is a fit for Ryan Clark's replacement

For what it's worth Wexell loves him to play right where he is - Inside Linebacker. Says he sheds blockers and finds the ball very well for his size. Personally, I find it hard to believe he could hold up in there but James Farrior played at 220lbs and when he did bulk up (2009) to help with all the punishment he couldn't cover Burghball.

Nice list NY.. Since I'm doing the Oline this year.. I agree with Cyril Richardson, Mewhort and Lewan being overrated.. Not sure what they see in Lewan.. I watched a couple of UMich games this year and Lewan was just average -

I'll add Dakota Dozier OG/OT Furman as a a "sleeper" and underrated player along the Oline.. A kid to watch on draft day..He had a nice Shrine game

    Offensive Guards:

    David Yankey OG Stanford
    Xavier Su'a-Filo OG UCLA

Gabe Jackson OG MIss St - a riser
Dakota Dozier OG Furman - This kid looked good in the Shrine game
    Brandon Thomas OG Clemson

Cyril Richardson OG Baylor - Did no have a very good Senior Bowl - looked real bad vs quick first step and speed guys - one demensional power player
Anthony Steen OG Alabama - injury flag
Joel Bitonio OT/OG Nevada - Had a nice shrine/senior bowl...

    Day 3 picks:

    Chris Watt OG ND
    Jon Halapio OG Florida

    Trai Turner OG LSU

Question for the draft evaluators.....defensively since we play a 3-4 when you take a 3-4 position like a DE or OLB do you rank those that just fit our system or do you just do the overall position anyway?
