DUH!!! The Texans and the Cardinals would love to make a trade for Ben. The idea of the Steelers trading Ben for a second round pick and conditional pick next year for Ben is beyond stupid!

Can you imagine how much better both of those teams would be with Ben at QB? The Cardinals would become scary good!

When you read something like this you have to wonder how many of these sports sites and sports writers have a clue of what they are talking about. Alex Smith was being replaced by a QB on the 49ers roster. For the 49ers it was be strapped with his salary and have a QB controversy all season or take what you can get for a guy that hasn't been as good as you hoped when you drafted him number 1 overall! The Steelers don't have their future QB on the roster and they aren't picking in the top five this year where they can pick up a franchise QB. Trade a franchise QB for a second and condition future pick? HOW STUPID!!!

    Guys,

Check the date of the article.

  5. beachbum Legend Manager Steelers

Check that ^^^^. The idiot is dating all his blogs 2013.

Still full of errors like Roethlisberger in the "last year of his contract" and comparing Ben to Alex Smith. That's pretty funny.

I will spare you my rant on why Johnny Football isn't going to make it in the NFL. Johnny has the talent but not the brain or the body. He's going to get destroyed!

Its a mistake on the website, beach. All of the recent rumors have 2013 dates on them. The article is clearly talking about the 2013 football season when it talks about Palmer and the Alex Smith trade and what it did for the Chiefs.

Ignore my other post...however, I think this qualifies as yet another entry into the "Beach admits he was wrong!" journal!! *YAHOO*

LMAO!!! I didn't notice the date! I was dumbfounded that he suggested Ben could be had for something comparable to what KC gave for Smith!

  10. The Jimmy Clausen is an alien wizard kinda did that for me.

Hey all I said was Check the Date! Please strike that from the journal. There should still be only one entry!!!

Isn't Mano's journal the one that reads like War and Peace?

Probably true but I'm an ESPN outsider(a guy who refuses to pay for Bullsheet information. ) truthfully I have no idea what big douche 's board looks like this year . If someone is an
insider give us some material for comedic relief.

beach, you could be right. Some of the better GM's have a theory, take the best ILB at his position in the draft. Evans and Lee would be the 2nd and 3rd best WR. Nix would be the best DT, but I am not sold on him, or the best FS in the draft Dix. However, I actually think Colbert will have the S out of Louisville rated higher. (Colbert went to the Rutgers/Louisville Game and it wasn't to scout Bridgewater ;) ) I am not saying they wouldn't take Eric Ebron either, best TE in the draft. Pick 15 "seems" early to some, but we also digested the Pouncey pick at depth, and he was clearly the best Center in the draft. In 2009 they targeted Alex Mack, and then Eric Wood went off the board at 28. In the second round they tried getting Max Unger and when they couldn't they traded back and ended up with Urbik, Wallace, and Lewis.

I am not sour on Ra'Shede Haggeman, I think he can be a good player, but I think 15 is too early for a guy who doesn't always give 100% from one play to the next.

FYI did you know that Mel Kiper Jr. has written several books on the NFL draft and sold Millions of Copies. I am curious by nature, so I tried locating one in my local Barnes and Noble. It was in the Fiction Section, right next to : Amelia Earhart?s Guide To The Pacific Ocean

  18. Wasn't that the issue on Heyward as well? I have soured on him a bit but if they get enough info and think that they can fix that problem with good coaching I'd be more in favor of it.

Heyward's issue was an injury he sustained his senior year. One reason why people loved him as a college player was his relentless motor.

If the Ravens are unable to resign Eugene Monroe, it puts Pittsburgh in a good position to trade back with Miami, so they could jump Baltimore for a LT candidate. A trade with Miami at 19th would net the Steelers the 3rd pick (19). This could give them flexibility to trade a 4th or 5th round pick to move up in the 2nd or 3rd when there are still some quality players available. The Vikings in the 3rd could be a good trade partner as they have many FAs this season and could be looking for quality depth.

Going the opposite direction, there seems to be a lot of love for Sammy Watkins as a future Pro Bowl WR, adding Watkins to the team could make Pittsburgh a top offense for the next 4 years. So what would you be will to trade up to?

    5th Raiders -(1)15, 2(14) and a 2nd next year
    7th Bucs- (1)15 and 2(14)
13th Rams- (1)15, 4(18) and 6th although most unlikely unless Watkins develops a red flags somehow

There could be an off chance of Barr or Mack sliding to 13th.
