Its a good place to start... But just a quick glance at OC and I'd move some players.. No way is the OC from USC bette than Brain Schwenke... that's just one example that we would need to shuffle some players around...

but as a starting point - sure we might as well get something up.

    beach,

What I am saying is over the years Colbert has done well, lately not so good, just looking at 2008,9 it looks pretty sucky. Compared to the Raiders,Colbert is a God, but some other teams have been outdrafting us, and those teams are catching and passing us. Do I expect 8-8 again, not really, but I don't see 12-4, unless the guys taken in the draft help the club. Dave-Te really liked two players, Ike Taylor, Jason Worilds, it was not all gloom and doom. And 2009, Ziggy enterring his 5th season, has done a good job, but not as well as I expected from a guy taken 32nd. With a full season under his belt, and this being a contract year for him, I hope he doesn't shuffle off to Buffalo like Kraig Urbik did. :)

    No

The Steelers need better run blocking along with a good checkdown TE, MW gives them both right away.
He's rated around 5th or 6th round so drafting him in 5th is about right.

Colbert/Cowher combo was just better than the Colbert/Tomlin combo.
I dont think that Tomlin's picking bad players just ones that dont fit the system. If he has a 4-3 background and picking players that fit what he was looking for then it stands to reason why most of his defensive players havent turned out to be as good as the ones leaving. IMO ofcourse.
Colbert might just see good players, the two of them have to decide if that player is going to fit what your doing.

Terry Hawthorne is off the board... 49ners took him end of the 4th round...

Just a random comment, but I've been watching video of Philip Thomas and other safety prospects and I can say confidently that Shamarko Thomas is the much, much better of the two. Admittedly, video is limited of both, so the sample size is not what I'd like it to be. Philip's stats seem impressive, but a cursory view of his highlights have enough "why the hell would the QB make that throw?" moments to see why.

That being said, Shamarko is a short shit, but he plays physical and his speed is very evident on tape. If we're hoping to groom a "playmaker" replacement in the secondary I'd give him the chance.

Then there's the 'Cuse factor. Wasn't Anthony Davis (did I get that right?) also from Syracuse? Mr. I-guarantee-a-victory-over-the-Pats. What an asshat.

I'd like to see Shamarko get invited pre-draft.

    Anthony Smith and yes Syracuse.

Is the competition at Miss. State a good enough indicator to accept ? If so, this kid Darius Slay has got a lot to offer and may be available later rounds...

Oh yeah, lol, there must've been a reason why I forgot his name. I think Anthony Davis is a tackle with the 49ers and likely would have played the safety position better than Smith.

Yeah I respectfully disagree. The fact that Wallace and Lewis left in free agency doesn't make it a bad draft ('09). If anything, it was the great find in the 4th round in 2011 (Cortez) that made them feel comfortable letting Keenan walk. They certainly had the money to pay him and elected not to. They offered Wallace a mountain of cash last summer and he rolled the dice looking for more. Again, a 6th round pick the following year gave them the confidence to move on without him.

If you want to criticize '08 that's fine but Mendenhall's 4200 yards and 31 TDs falls pretty short of the bust label so many like to place on him. He helped us win a lot of games and cost us very little. If he wasn't such a bone head he'd once again be the most talented runner on our roster which is unfortunate considering our O-line is looking better at this point than any he ever ran behind.

    MOS,

Darius Slay will most likely be taken in round 3. My feeling is that Colbert's targets in round 3 are: Jonathon Franklin, JJ Wilcox, Corey Lemonier, BW Webb, Steadman Bailey, Brandon Williams, John Simon off the top of my head.

    beach,

We can agree to disagree, but we can agree that this draft class is pretty important to improve the roster. :)

    21. Vikings- Jon Bostic - LB - FLA. round 3

Do you think this is a realistic pont in the draft he may go, and would you take the chance and go WR in round 2 and get Bostic in 3???

  15. nybites M.V.P. Steelers UCONN

The Steelers might not be high on Bostic, just because we are. On the other hand, 4 drafts in a row with a Florida Gator perhaps.. or not. Chris Rainey just proved again that character is so vital in the NFL. Three guys I would love to see go to the Steelers in rounds 2,3,4. Kasheem Green, Steadman Bailey, JJ Wilcox. Round one, I have changed my mind so many times I lost track. It keeps coming back to Cooper, the pick will probably be Vaccaro or Richardson, whom I like but as a 3 technique.

How about this guy, a converted QB at Oregon, transferred to K State, not a burner by any means but uses his body to gain position, remind you of anyone.........a former bulldog?

    Roc,

They're 2 different types of WR... Harper I have been high on for a while - really like the body type.. .

I'm alittle concerned with your guy from Wash st - do we really know why he quit the team? the key word being quit.. one I do not like...

and as I stated before - need to take a hard look at the 2 from VATech - both have nice size.. and they were hampered by a QB that struggled with Accuracy

    enjoy,
