Kenny Stills was gone, not a fan of Escobar, Nassib might have been a more value pick. The WR class was just blown up, lots of guys flew off the board. With Wilcox I will not be looking at my main man Earl Wolff now, at least not in this mock.

names for WR, RB. TE please, that is where I am headed.

    to date

    1. Jonathon Cooper
    2. Kevin MInter
    3. Jamie Collins
    4. JJ Wilcox

    Roc,

I need to go Offense next, the WR run was inbetween my picks, twice, chit happens. CB just flew off the board. I would rather draft a big fast safety than another tiny CB. We got William Gay for the slot now, CB was not as pressing as the Henny Penny fans make it out to be. In the real draft I doubt Colbert waits until round 5 to address WR, that is just the way this one unfolded.

As far as WR goes my 2nd and 3rd options I believe are still available from the PM I sent you.

Or I might start pounding the table for my guy MW in the 5th.

    Ny,

still alot of WR talent on the board - Also throw in Chris Harper WR Kansas St.... now that we are in the 5th round...

Also - look at the CB form San Diego State had a nice E/W shrine game and could look at a rising TE from San Jose State... Otten or the TE from mich state... if he is still on the board....

    enjoy,

    bb

He'd be a good pick too.... but I'm still do not know why he left the team... Is there a 007 in the house?

    enjoy,

Listening to Dave Te Thomas, this guy is fantastic. High grades on JJ Wilcox, he does not like Jones, Patterson, or the UConn kids. loves the WVU WR. He likes Cooper, doesn't think he'll be there and Werner as I politely disagree with Beach, he thinks he won't be able to drop. He likes Jamie Collins as well, but Kevin Minter never came up in the podcast. He did like two LB's in round 2, Kashem Greene and Arthur Brown. For DL he is very high on the Willams, Jesse and Brandon. He also mentions the ILB we liked late in the draft out of Florida State, VInce Williams, I guess Williams is a theme here. I have to listen it to again, sometimes he talks fast and throws names out I miss because of backround noise or the guy just flat out talks a mile a minute.

Great draft so far, MW will be a #2 from day one at his position.

Leon McFadden - gone - came off the board shortly after you took JJ Wilcox..... I think the RB from Florida is still available and the one from the Aggies... but red flags on the aggie...

I know you want to go Offense here - but this CB from Lincoln land is going to be a steal in the 5th....

    enjoy,

The Reason I liked Dave-Te Thomas, he called out Colbert. For as much praise as he gets, he deserves some criticism. In the last 5 drafts, out of 42 picks, 21 are out of football. Only 15 of those players are stiill on the team. 15/42 is a good percentage in baseball, but not football.

Before the hate posts come in, I understand late picks are usually not going to make a good team, but my argument comes right back to the first two years. NOBODY from 2008 is on this team. One player is on this team from 2009, and he was a first rounder. Guys that's not good, the Steelers really need to hit one out of the park this year, like 6 out of 8 need to stick.

I'm on board with using that, it seems pretty accurate, although they don't have everyone rated, I looked at the S board and didn't see the kid from Richmond, Cooper I think was his name.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but who is Dave-Te comparing Colbert to? That's my only gripe when people attack Colbert's record. Put the evaluation in context. Evaluate him against his peers.

It reminds me of the criticisms we've heard of the Mendenhall and Hood selections over the years. Even with the value of hindsight no one could point to a guy he "should have taken". Now that more time has passed Duane Brown looks like a nice '08 alternative but no one would hang their hat on him in 2009-10. He took years to develop.

Colbert has put together a body of work that equals anyone in football. Yes, he has his bad years but so do all the other really respected talent evaluators like Jerry Reese, Ted Thompson and Ozzie Newsome. A simple google search will show you Ozzie would like a redo in 2010. First three picks... Sergio Kindle, Terrence Cody, Ed Dickson. He took a flyer on an injured Art Jones in the 5th that looks like it may pay off - just in time for him to reach free agency. Think Keenan Lewis.

Ask Thompson how he feels about '06 and '07. Twenty-two selections and he has four guys left including a kicker. Jerry Reese would like another crack at 2011 I bet. The jury is still out on Amukamara and the rest of the class has produced absolutely nothing.

You can't deny Colbert had opportunities to grab better players up and down the draft. So did every other GM. It's not a perfect science but if you look at his body of work Colbert does as well as any of them.
