  4. It's a real shame Aaron Donald probably wouldn't fit the Steelers defensive scheme.

Hey guys, saw this article in Steelersdepot.

Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Al Woods has quietly logged 76 snaps on defense so far this season with most of them coming at the nose tackle position in relief of starter Steve McLendon in the base defense. This past week, defensive line coach John Mitchell was asked by David Todd of ESPN 970 to talk about the progress Woods has made since arriving in Pittsburgh a few years ago.

"Al Woods has really made a lot of strides and progress since he's been here," said Mitchell. "He came back a little slow, a few pounds over weight. He's got the weight off of him, we've moved him inside from end to nose and we like to use him at end at times when we have to give Cam, Ziggy or Brett a rest. But I'm really pleased with Al. Al's a young guy who's going to be a good football player for us."

So does Mitchell see Woods as more of a nose tackle or a defensive end moving forward?

"Well, he's going to have to go both ways, because I go into a game with five, so my backup nose has got to play end, but we felt Al was more suited to be inside," said Mitchell. "He's got a big, thick body, he's heavy, he's a prototype nose tackle and we feel if we had to finish a game with Al at end, that he'd do an incredible job for us."

Just like defensive ends Ziggy Hood and Brett Keisel, Woods, too, will be an unrestricted free agent after the season is over. Being as the Steelers consider him a nose tackle that can play defensive end in a pinch, you would think they would want him back next year at the minimum if at all possible.

Like or not, the Steelers are happy with McLendon as their starter right now at nose tackle and with Hebron Fangupo also currently on the roster and under contract through 2015, you can probably forget about a nose tackle being drafted in the early rounds of the 2014 NFL Draft. Sorry, Louis Nix fans.

If the Steelers are to draft a defensive lineman early, they will more than likely be looking for another defensive end, being as there is no guarantee that Hood and Keisel will be back next season. Sure, they have Nick Williams and Brian Arnfelt currently waiting in the wings, but both are considered projects right now.

Maybe forward we shouldn't consider NT a priority in the early rounds!

  6. I've been hoping to see Woods get some extensive looks this year. He's had two great pre-seasons.

  7. I also saw Williams is 12th in tackles among rookies. Pretty good for a 6th rounder.

  8. Wisconsin receiver Jared Abberdabis is having a good game today. Could be an option in the 2nd.

Stock down on Cody Hoffman, after a 100 catch season in 2012 he's been struggling this year. Maybe a good chance to buy low on him.

  9. Anyone see Manziel's numbers today? What a turd.

    Yeah, lots of upsets today!

Oregon, Florida, Texas A&M, and a couple others.

  11. Manziel was completely exposed, pressure I'm and he folds.

What's interesting about Florida losing is Georgia Southern had no pass yards.

Mariotta also had a bad day vs a tough defense. He needs to stay in school.

The player or ther peson? because never mind, he's excrememtally gifted. Glad to see him FAIL again, cannot stand the punk.

The Punter for Michigan State was very impressive today, and all season long he pins the other team inside the 10 and 20 yard lines. Mike Sadler is only a Junior however.

Brent Urban was solid in a losing effott. With Hood and Kiesel without contracts, maye a 5 technique that Coach Mitchell likes will be part of the draft.

Marcus Mariotta with the bum knee is not the sam dynamic player.

Don't bet on Florida State vs. Alabama, my gut tells me Mr. DNA and Mr. DA are going to pull the plug on Jameus Winston. I actually felt bad for the Idaho kids, but even out classed athletically, they were more classy in defeat.

Duke is for Real, steelinNC has been talking a lot about them on Facebook. He was on CBS but have not seen him on this forum. Him, DCSteelerfan, and First-to-Six are also in communitions with me now and then.

Watching ESPN game day and half time has lowered my IQ. This just in Dork Nowitall is just annoying as F@$#, It's not like you got much choice that Schitt network has all the games. I lasted 1 nanosecond on Channel 208, as soon as I heard Beth Mo-Mo I was onto another channel.

I like the game of Rashede Hageman, could be a fit for the Steelers, he's a solid DT that could play the 5, not a lot of chatter on him. I like the taller DE's for Pittsburgh. I never liked Hood on the end, even though he's been a good Steeler, a hard worker. Basically I just think it's no coincidence that Cam Heyward, Brett Kiesel, and Aaron Smith are all 6'5".

The revolving door that is the best CB in the draft, man some of the guys like Purifoy are now mid second rounders. Florida continues to suck butt. Watched some of Michigans State, I was not wowed by Darqueze Dennard, but they basically didn't throw to his side very often, they picked on the Safties in the middle of the field. Great matchup coming up with Michigan State and Ohio State.

To some of the fans who read this thread, and enjoy it, I must disclose that my work schedule has been brutal. This is my 4th and final day off for this month, and I am working the next 14 days in a row. I watch tape on the DVR but it's not the same as live action.

  14. Max Copeland for Mizzou may not be the best center in the class but the kid os a guts and gritty player and an overachiever. I'd look for him as an undrafted player that's becomes hard to cut.

  15. Andre Williams another monster game, first ACC back to break 2000 yards. Arrow way up.

  16. L'Damian Washington, L'Damian Washington, L'Damian Washington.

I just don't see how draftscout has him as a 5th rounder, makes no sense. Bishop Sankey I watched last night, obvioulsy there's a reason he's ahead of Seastrunk now. We still have to question the work ethic of Carlos Hyde, it's part of the process. Man Arizona just shredded Oregon thanks to KaDeeme Carey and BJ Denker. I saw part of the game and after Oregon keep turning it over, you knew fate had dealt Oregon a Coke Hand.

  18. To build off that, I have no idea how he is not considered a Heisman candidate. Especially considering that Winston has his sexual battery case and no one else really standing out.

I was watching the Ok. st. Vs Baylor game and I didn't see Justin Gilbert #4 in the game anyone else notice?

  20. nybites M.V.P. Steelers UCONN

Yep and Johnny Dipschitt sucked rhino ass yesterday. I cannot imagine this beast of a RB lasting into round 4. If you saw my hyper=link, Williams is now in Heisman Discussions with over 2000 yards in the ACC, ,that's impressive.
