    sb,

You're really high on the kid out of Vandy. Havn't seen him at all. What's he like? What NFL player would you equate him to?

That's basically what I'm thinking with the OL. We have no depth inside. With the way our injuries always happen it would be nice for once to have a roster where keeping up to 10 OL is worth it. Think of 2014 as kind of a 2010 for OG. In 2010 we double-dipped at OLB because we had absolutely no depth, albeit with little to show for it.

By the way, let it be known that I didn't like Worilds when we drafted him and never completely warmed up to him, but I trusted the FO to know what they were doing, and I don't bash him today.

I did like Thaddeus Gibson as an edge-setter, though. I think he had something like 32 reps on the bench press.

I wonder where Gibson is. I still say he could have been good depth if we kept and developed him. Other teams appeared to have the same idea.

    colbert needs to getback to BPA sure there are lots of holes but its one draft at a time. guysi really like qnd think they're solid;

Jake Matthews duh, not rocket Sciene.
Mike Evans- he is producing in the SEC, and is MAKING Manziel look better, see above.
Anthony Barr- not sure if he makes sense with Woodley and Jones on the roster, but the Steelers pass rush is amemic and it exposes the age in the secondary.
Kahlil Mack- sure he plays for Buffalo, this kid is a stud.
Kyle Van Noy- just relentless, student of the game, no red flags.
DaQuan Jones- Solid NT, he's stout at the point and that is what the Steelers need instead of getting gashed up the middle.
Yawin Smallwood- yeah homer pick but he makes plays and is NOT a liabilty in pass coverage. He would form a very good tandem next to Timmons.
Deonne Buchannon- dude just reminds me so much of Carnel Lake, and who better to coach him? He can be a PF machine, hopefully he's coached to not go Kemo on anyone.
Brandon Cooks- Ive seen Oregon State play and although he's small, he just gets open. and once he has the ball.... LOOK OUT.
Pierre Desir- for now I'm sold, hopefully he steps up at the Shrine or Senior Bowl.

Watched some of the C.Mich vs Ball State game last night -the RB from Ball state stood out to me.. #4 - good vision - very patient - set his blocks and a good burst... I got to do a little research on the kid..

tonight - a couple of good ones..

    Baylor vs Oklahoma

    Stanford Vs Oregon

If this kid enters the draft, he would be a perfect Steeler TE FSU Nick O'Leary he's a junior, the kid can do it all, very under the radar for some reason. Reminds me the most of Heath, 2 TE's like that would be dangerous, don't know which one is going out or staying home to block or if both are going out on patterns, has very good hands, lowers the boom on contact and always falls forward after the catch, gets positive yards. I think he has the Attitude and toughness that this bunch is lacking.

You don't know how fast I'd accept that job!

  8. Well I'm still in college and relatively early into my journalism degree but I am hoping to use it to get into NFL Draft coverage. That would be a dream to have a career centered around it or at least in part.

Speaking of which I'll take my turn at my first mock after this journalism class.

What do you guys think about Justin Gilbert CB OSU, he can contribute on ST right away, is a kick returner, and punt returner, is one of the most experienced CB's in the big 12, has anyone seen him play?

Watched a good bit of the Stanford vs Oregon game last night.. Man - was that my kind of game - I smash mouth team vs a Spread.. Stanford held on for the win.. but totally dominated the line of scrimmage... Lovely.

Can't single out to many players.. The LB from Stanford Stov.. talked about him last year - kid is a football player - not sure he has the size or speed for the NFL though... Might find his niche as a backup/special team player at that level..

The Oregon QB reminds me of Colin Kap but more polished at this stage.... fast.. strong arm.. Good QB - his arm looks stronger than Bridgewaters.. 2 different players - will be interesting to see where these 2 fall and how successful they become.

Burgh, What do you think of Stanford's DE's they play the 3-4 too don't they? Started watching it then I just couldn't keep my eyes open last night.

Mariota ought to stay in another year and develop. Kid isn't ready for the NFL yet.

I like the physical running of SR RB Tyler Gaffney. I hadn't watched much of Stanford this year but I was impressed with the physical play of their O line and Gaffney. The kid picked up 1st down after first down last night. I'd be interested to know what his YAC was last night.

David Yankey is going to be a solid G in the NFL.

The Stanford D played fantastic last night. They weren't supposed to be fast enough to hang with Oregon.
