Minter is a solid pick also so either one should help the Steelers in the future.

    Jamie Collins

Collins was a high school quarterback who led his team to back-to-back state championship games in his sophomore (when his Franklin County (Miss.) squad got the win) and junior seasons. After arriving in Hattiesburg, coaches? conversion of Collins paid immediate dividends; playing as a reserve in all 13 games, he accumulated 48 tackles (three for loss, two sacks). During his sophomore year, he moved from safety to linebacker due to a mid-season injury. He started seven games, playing in every contest, garnering honorable mention All-Conference USA honors with 76 tackles (three for loss, 2.5 sacks), intercepting two passes and breaking up two others. He was again put on the honorable mention squad for his work starting all 14 games in 2011, in which he totaled 98 tackles (19.5 for loss), 6.5 sacks, and eight pass break-ups. As a senior, Collins tallied 92 tackles (20 for loss), 10 sacks, four forced fumbles, and five passes broken up. This excellent senior year earned him first-team All-Conference USA honors.

At this rate, Collins is gonna end up at LT by his third year.

For those keeping score : Mike Mayock >>>>>>> Rob Rang. Blidi Wreh-Wilson is not the 101st BPA, he is a top 5 CB on Mayock's list. Lots of talent left for round 3. My targets in no particular order: S,CB,OLB ,WR ,TE, NT, RB

I love His progression every year though, it shows he's very coachable and willing to do anything to help the team and do it well.

Also tons of QB talent, 5 should go before pick 79. Barkley,Manuel,Nassib, Glennon, Wilson and Jones still on the board. And Bray and Scott are 3rd rounders. Just pushes someone back to Pittsburgh.

I can see how guys love Collins @ 48, when we do the big board you guys need to beat your drums for him. If I didn't go Minter and went with Hunter or Reid I really like Bostic and late in the draft Vince Williams could be a sleeper. Luke warm on Reddick, Klein is solid IMFO.

  14. Great pickup in Minter. If I had to throw some names out for round 3 I'd say Jonathan Franklin, JJ Wilcox, Stedman Bailey or Markus Wheaton

  15. Hey guys,

What do you guys think of Khaseem Greene? After watching some tape, my analysis is below:

The Steelers had Rutgers LB Khaseem Greene in for a visit on Tuesday. He is projected as a 2nd rounder, but could be taken in the 1st by teams antsy for a versatile inside/outside linebacker. He played a 4-3 OLB in college, but could easily transition to a 3-4 ILB/situational pass rusher. Greene actually came to Rutgers as a Safety, but bulked up to play linebacker. His size and speed are a very rare combination, and his coverage skills are a huge commodity. Tomlin is probably very interested in his versatility, as he can be used in a lot of situations. As teams continue utilizing two TE's, it is very important to have athletic Linebackers that can match up with them and the Steelers would be smart to look his way in round 2.

Greene came off the board a few spots before I picked. It seems the Steelers are interested in LB's in this draft, they are bringing in a lot of them. This draft will no doubt be similar to 2007 whre two high picks could be LB's, one inside, one outside. I like Greene, Big East DPOY two years in a row. Yeah it's not the SEC but UConn, Syracuse, and CIncy have some real talent on D,

I think the Steelers would have to pass. Ideally in the 3-4; you want an athletic ILB and a thumper at the other spot. Having to athletic ILBs could be worrisome, especially late in games, if a team is trying to run on you.

  18. nybites M.V.P. Steelers UCONN

Timmons is the cover guy, Foote, Sylvester are thumpers. That is why I went with Minter, a thumper to replace Foote.

My logic applies to round one as well. You need a guy with quick feet to come in and play a zone blocking system. Foster has heavy feet, but I like him as a spot starter. Beachum has quick feet, competition for the LG spot. But Cooper is a stud, best OG in the draft for pulling and the guy can be Pouncey's backup, a much more polished player than Doug Legursky.

  19. Yes, I think you need a "thumper" per say, but the "thumpers" tend to be terrible in coverage. With so many teams moving to 3WR/2 TE sets, it is important to not have a "weak link" that can create match-up issues. Kevin Minter, while he is widely regarded the #1 ILB in the draft, has the same issues as Greene and "prefers to spin away from blockers rather than take them on directly."

Sylvester and Foote are both on 1-year deals, Spence may never play again, so the Steelers NEED another ILB to pair with Timmons and for the Linebacking corp to become as great as it has been.

and that is why I took Kevin Minter with the 48th pick in the Collaborative Draft. He is the #1 rated ILB, over Manti- Slowgo and Alec Ogletheif. In my opinion and bb's take, Cooper is the #1 OG, so with two picks I took what I thought were the best at their position in the draft. The real event, who knows, have to see how it falls. No way on Earth is there any chance that 1 QB will be taken in the first 62 picks, no way, no how.
